Julia Stiles Also in the Running For Spider-Man 4

Sure, Rachel McAdams has denied being cast in Spider-Man 4 as Black Cat, and Sony Pictures calls the web reports mearly “internet rumor”, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a bit of truth to the story.

UGO has learned that Julia Stiles has met with a casting company in New York City to discuss joining Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4, and we’re pretty confident the role is still that of Peter Parker’s love interest/antagnonist Black Cat.

Last week we also found out Sony had put out a casting call for a new female lead for the fourth Spider-Man film, and that Romola Garai (Amazing Grace, The Other Man) has auditioned for the role. Garai, McAdams, and Stiles all fall into the near 30-year-old age range, and have a similar look. You might also remember that a new source confirmed that Black Cat is in the screenplay, but the character is now the daughter of the new man in charge of the Daily Bugle, who just happens to be one of Spidey’s new villains (which one, we’re not sure).

But you said there is someone else in charge of the Bugle... does this mean that J.K. Simmons' brilliant J. Jonah Jameson won't be involved? Or are they going to have him elsewhere, like as the mayor?

I always imagined Julia as Mary Jane, in fact I wished Raimi casted her as MJ.
To any /Film staff, if any of you are good with photoshop, take that pic of Stiles and put in red hair. Much better than Kirsten Dunce.

This does not seem like a good fit at all. Felicia Hardy posseses sex appeal both in and out of her costume; which despite how pretty she is, Julia Stiles has very little of.

Julia Stiles is sweet, but that's her problem. Isn't Black Cat supposed to be a sexy badass?

I guess it could give her a chance to show another side of herself if she gets it, but from every role I've ever seen her in she has very little sex appeal outside the timid girl next door kind of thing.

Well Fox works as a Hot tanned chick, BC is pretty pale from what i know.

Also i don't think Fox is physically big or fit enough to pull it off, but beauty wise im with ya.

But when has Megan Fox shown that she can't act? I mean, Transformers' only requirement has been for her to pout, pop her ass out, and yell "Sam", which I would say she exceeded.

Actually, she's the only person in those films that has had to convey any real emotion, which I think she did well.

Stiles is a great actor and i think she should be in more films but as the suductive black cat i dont think she could make it, shes cute(in a way) but sexy? i don't think so.

Personally i love the idea of McAdams, she has the perfect face and talent for BC, only missing the BC's famously busty chest, but i could live with that.

2nd choice is Romola Garai, that is atleast based on the pictures /film had up of her on the SM4 article. That's based on looks alone.

Scarrlet Johanson would be an amazing cast, if she wasn't already the equally great Black Widow.

I just don't think Stiles could pull it off.

Hmm this keeps getting interesting. Hopefully we will know more soon enough. With that other article about mcadams i still personally hope they are not changing around her or her dad's backstory to much. There really isnt a need to do that.

I think the best bet for Black Cat would be Kristen Bell!!

I think Rachel McAdams should go for the role of Mary Jane Watson. I really never liked whats her face in the role. She was never attractive or fitting in the role. I hope that Tobey stays as Peter Parker/Spider-Man though.

True that about Tobey, unless they can find someone younger who can play a nerdy-likable guy who is not Michael Cera or McLovin'. Don't forget Tobey is in his thirties now... so that's kinda weird to me for him to play a 20 something. He still looked REALLY young in Spidey 3 though.

I'm sure nobody here know who this is, but my vote would be for Kelli Garner (Lars and The Real Girl, Thumbsucker). She's a great actress. I saw her several years ago in an Off-Broadway play called Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (about Peanuts gang all growed up). She was fantastic.

This will be an epic fail. They are banking on the idea that introducing a female antagonist into the Peter/Mary Jane relationship will have the same appeal that Harry Osbourne did.
