Crazy Heart Movie Trailer

Crazy Heart

Yesterday we saw the first poster and images from Crazy Heart, Fox Searchlight’s film which stars Jeff Bridges as “a washed-up, alcoholic country singer who gets his life back on track thanks to a reporter-type (Maggie Gyllenhaal).” I’ve heard from a couple of people in the know that Bridges will be a contender for Best Actor with his performance. And lets not forget that Robert Duval and Colin Farrell round out the cast.

Searchlight has now released the first trailer for the film, which you can watch embedded after the jump. The story is drawing strong comparisons to Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler, and after watching the trailer, you will definitely see why. As always, I’d love to hear what you think — leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Four-time Academy Award® nominee Jeff Bridges stars as the richly comic, semi-tragic romantic anti-hero Bad Blake in the debut feature film CRAZY HEART from writer-director Scott Cooper. Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who’s had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (Golden Globe® nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man’s crazy heart.

Again a trailer that reveals too much, I'd like to see one that leaves some surprises for the movie so people have a reason to go watch it.
Other than that though, looks like another great inspiring story. I will be watching this.

"Again a trailer that reveals too much" -- ahh good thing it's not here then

I can't wait! I've always been a fan of Jeff Bridges, he has done some amazing work. Interesting that Coin Farrell is left out of the main credits and is almost completely absent from the trailer.
  • looks good, but it doesn't look any different from WALK THE LINE.

That song in the trailer could make just about any video sad/kind of uplifting in a way. The dude looks like he could finally win an oscar and more importantly be more recognized as a great actor.
  • The Dude abides,, in all genres

This looks like a less-subtle Tender Mercies
  • simalex2000
i was going to say the same thing. interesting to note that tender mercies also had robert duvall in it.
  • Still getting a clumsy oscar bait feeling. Though that song is really nice.
  • RainMan
It's a crime against filmanity that Jeff Bridges has never won an Oscar.

Wait. They rebooted The Wrestler already?

Well it may come as a surprise to most, that if this movie is a bit of cliche, it will honestly reflect most of our lives (in being a cliche). Work, sleep, repeat. Movies like The Wrestler and perhaps Crazy Heart are about the perspective. Walk The Line was semi-autobiographical taking liberties where it needed for entertainment. The Wrestler was fictional, but who had made an intimate portrait picture of a wrestler before then?

Movies can be fantasy representation, but they can also be the mirror reflecting the sad images of our or others lives. Everyone has a story to tell and though there might be a model for this type of story doesn't mean its being told the same way. How about we wait to see the film, then ask ourselves if its good or not.

    I don't see the trailer..?

I can't wait to see this.
  • I'm in if it involves Jeff Bridges! This should be killer!
  • wow, i can already see jeff bridges stage-diving into his death wrestler-style at the end of the movie
  • Benjo
yeah, there's a "the wrestler" feel to it... and it made me think, Jeff Bridges as The Ram Robinson, might've worked as well...
  • CyT
That voice over makes me miss Heath Ledger all over again...
  • skaught
    country and wrestlern.
  • ricky

  • countryboy420

Jeff Bridges was really good in this movie. Anyone that really knows Santa fe, knows Nick Klonis and Evangelos Coctail Lounge- it's a wonderful place to sit down and enjoy a drink. This bar even has a little story of it's own!
