Sherlock Holmes Movie Trailer #3: Action Packed!

Sherlock Holmes

Warner Bros has released a thrid movie trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes on MTV. The trailer is again the odd mix of stylistic action and slapstick-approaching comedy. This trailer definitely has more action packed between faster cuts and loud music, probably an attempt to appeal to the younger MTV demographic. The film looks like Ritchie’s most accessible film to date. Watch the trailer embedded after the jump.

In a dynamic new portrayal of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous characters, “Sherlock Holmes” sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.

Watch the trailer in High Definiton on MTV. Sherlock Holmes hits theaters on December 25th 2009.

It's sort of like "A Christmas Carol" for me. When did these classic stories become about explosions and crazy situations? This is looking more and more like "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." SHERLOCK HOLMES IS NOT AN ACTION HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • holmes
i agree this NOT SHERLOCK HOLMES i know am going to hate this movie. if u want real sherlock holmes watch the tv show from 80's or read the stories
  • flippythemaster
Well, Sherlock Holmes did practice fencing, didn't he? There's nothing wrong with adding a little more action to a character who people now would consider boring. I think it's pretty much a given that there will be a mystery in the film, namely how Lord Blackwood rises from the grave, but they're also adding in fighting and action. I like it and I'm looking forward to it.

No... there is something wrong with making Sherlock Holmes John McClane. It's like making a new Karate Kid film starring Jackie Chan and Will Smith's son. Man, that film would suck bad... O wait...

I really hope Jude Law says "no shit, Sherlock" at some point
  • For some reason it seemed like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law wouldn't work well on screen. This trailer proves me wrong in so many ways.

Not really a Sherlock Holmes movie, but still, i can't wait to see this. This movie is going to rock. Guy Ritchie divorcing Madonna was the best career move he's made in a long time.

I agree. The huge Holmes fan in me wants to hate this...but I gotta say, it looks fun. Ritchie's a pretty good director and I'd pay to see Downey read the phone book.

Damn this looks like a fun thrill ride! Negativity and accuracy be damned I wanna see this flick.
  • freemachine
I wish the film would take itself a bit more seriously. All the slapstick and painfully forced wit is going to kill this movie for me.
  • This is not being pushed the way I thought it would be... I'm actually losing flavor and excitement I once held for this.
  • fanboy_d
They have not sold this movie as a mystery AT ALL.
  • clarencesomerset
No, its entirely sold as an RdJ film. Not that I'm complaining.

Horrible Horrible digital key of green screen
  • hellojacktoad
Gorman from Aliens is in this.
  • namez
Action is fine but this looks way too epic and too CGI.
