Star Trek Deleted Scene: Nero Interrogated By Klingons

zz262a8fd3

JJ Abrams shot a sequence for the Star Trek reboot featuring a few members of the infamous Trek alien race, the Klingons. The scene featured Nero chained to a table being interrogated by the masked ruffle-headed creatures with Centurion slugs who are looking to find out information on the future. The sequence basically explained where Nero was up to in the missing years. The scene also features the quotable line from the trailer, which was absent from the theatrical release: “The wait is over!” One of the deleted scenes in the prison break sequence has found its way online to promote the upcoming DVD release. Watch it now after the jump.

Only two lights in the room. And still there's lens flares...
  • Reese
    There... are... FOUR lights!*

    *unnecessary Trek reference.

lol, yea I remember that one, when Capt. Picard was taken as a POW from an assignment in the Cardassian territory. I actually thought that was a good episode, even though I wanted to beat the crap out of Capt. Jericho.

no not really. there might have been one very very quick one during the fight, but there aren't any lens flares, just flickering lights

    HAHA you're so right..

Hey Peter, you should post the new AVATAR behind the scenes clip that was released like an hour ago.

lame. this should be removed. Don't click.
  • Bogy
Trevor, i posted your clip on my news site, gave you full credit and linked back here.
  • I understand in the editing process you have to make some tough cuts but you'd think they would find a way to keep the sequence that closes a gigantic plot hole in your movie. Anyone know if the DVD feature a way for you to view the film with the cut footage included?
  • clarencesomerset
Now that explains how he got those new weapons on his mining ship!

It felt like there was a jump from the bug to the fight scene. Did they cut something FROM The cut footage?
  • I'm kind of glad I didn't have to see Centurion slugs. It's like what George Lucas did with the prequels: reproduce exactly what people have come to know and like, then hope you get the same results. Also, that movie really made no sense anyway, so the fact that this scene was cut doesn't really matter to me.

Nero uses Centurion slugs on Pike if I recall correctly.
  • Does he? I guess I vaguely remember that. Still don't like the idea. And two slugs in one movie would have been definite overkill.
  • Huh? It actually adds an extra dimension to the scene that is in the final film. He's not just pulling a random plot device out of his ass, but instead victimizing someone the same way others tried to victimize him.

It should have been in the movie.

This came from Spike TV's Scream 2009 awards show.

i remember this scene was in the Star Trek Trailer
  • heropower: It's not like he was beaten as a child by his father and now as an adult he's beating his own kid; any bad guy from Star Trek would probably use the slugs in order to get info. Also, I doubt Nero is using the slugs because they were used on him. It's like saying some character was shot and therefore he carries a gun. Maybe he carries a gun because it's easy to kill people with it.

this scene looks abit stupid cause Klingons dont wear mask and a jacket they look more like a G.I. Joe villains in this clip
  • Whoa!!! Realy good! maybe for 2nd film.!!!

Eric Bana in Star Trek = Wasted Opportunity.

    BOOOOOO Abrams!
  • Just a bit of trivia that is Victor Gaber under all that make up.
  • Sketch
Garber? Yeah no wonder you could recognise his voice. Made me think of Sinestro.
  • samboni
Man it feels like the writers have only seen wrath of khan. All the references are from that film.
  • Jordinho: The fact is he would not have used the slugs at all if it weren't for what happened to him in that scene. In the theatrical cut of the movie, the slugs now look completely random, because they need to get information out of him and they had no idea how to do it without compromising Pike's "honor" or some crap. It also makes Nero's brutality throughout the rest of the film more justified and less like Cliche Stock Villain junk.

Removing the deleted scene does more damage than just taking out the cool Klingon fanwank. It rips several holes in the plot.
  • Man, that was terrible. This just makes me think less and less of the actual movie.
  • razor
so glad this wasnt in the movie it makes no sense
  • [A]
Good to finally hear that line in context.
  • quintushalls
The music and characters are what really made that movie. The plot and editing was terrible.
  • Jerome
Agreed. I find the movie immensely entertaining and winning in spite of a weak script.
