Toy Story 3 Full Trailer

[Update:The real trailer is now online at MySpace. You can check out the embed below, or head there for an HD version.]

I’m sure this isn’t meant to be on YouTube quite yet, but the full Toy Story 3 trailer is up now…we’ll see how long this version lasts. But while it does, the trailer looks and sounds great, even to an old Randy Newman-dismissing curmudgeon like me. Check it out after the jump.

If you’ve not been following news on the film, it has been fairly well-known that the story would follow what happens to Woody, Buzz and the other toys when Andy goes to college and his old box of toys is donated to a day-care center. That’s the basic thrust of this trailer: we get a nice little time-capsule montage of the toys’ life with young Andy, and then a cut to a really beautifully animated version of young adult Andy. (Still voiced by original actor John Morris.)

But after that opening segment, which is set to a sugary bit of Randy Newman songcraft, the trailer kicks into gear. “Let’s see what we’re going for on Ebay,” is the first line that suggests this will be both a casually entertaining and sharp flick. Then there’s the requisite montage of misuse by rugrats at the day care center, and a little problem with Buzz’s language settings that will obviously generate a big series of jokes. Who doesn’t dig a flamenco dancing astronaut?

Throughout, the animation looks wonderful. I don’t know why I’m so impressed with the couple shots of 18-year old Andy; I think there’s something in his movement that really captures that age really well. Pixar’s human animation has become better and better, but this is the least cartoonish stuff they’ve done yet, and the little taste here looks great.

Here’s the MySpace embed. Head there to see a much better-looking HD version.

Dope! So who's playing Slinky Dog? That kinda sounded like Jim Varney.
  • From what I understand it'll be his brother.
  • davidtheartist
I cant find anything on his brother. any idea what his name is?
  • Fir3Wolf
Looks really good for sure. I should watch Toy Story 2 again. Really don't remember it all that well.

I saw this in front of the Toy Story 1 & 2 double feature this morning. I could feel tears well up in my eyes from the Andy sequences of the trailer.

I hadn't seen 1 or 2 since they were in theatres when I was a kid. Now, being a college student myself and seeing this childhood world open up to me once again, I could feel a huge emotional connection.

same here. i first saw Toy Story when i was 5 in theaters and it was the first movie i saw in theaters and the first movie i saw in theaters twice lol. it's been a 7 years since i've seen any of the movies at least and this trailer brought tears to my eyes. i feel like i've grown up with andy it really hit home.
  • so overdramatic. i grew up with these movies too but im not 'tearing up' during this little montage. pixar is great and all but people seriously need to get off their dick.
  • Halfcat
Meh, to each his own. I'm sure some of the things that you "tear up" over, other people would roll their eyes at and tell you to get over it.
  • presto117
i'll make sure i get off that dick right away. what a great suggestion, sir.

but in all seriousness, this movie has a special place in my heart, and seeing as you're not my heart (which is a safe assumption since my heart's not black and made out of douche-baggery), i don't expect you to understand. I won't give two shits when your mom dies, but you probably will. I think.

    to each his own.

  • i just think a lot of people want to feel nostalgic over shit like this and pretend to be overly sensitive when the movie doesn't deserve it. i wasn't that into this trailer for toy story 3... the bawwww opening was just so cliche.. i dont buy into the 'emotion' when its thrown at you so blatantly.. its just so easy and so forced when you add music... and that's how i feel about most recent pixar stuff.. wall-e started out great but dumbed itself down so much in the seccond half.. yet people still acted as if that film was the second coming of christ. i thought 'up' was the same - perhaps started out with 'mature' material for a childrens movie, but hardly as emotional as any other good drama (especially after 15 minutes in when it turned into a dreamworks film.) i feel like people are lowering their standards for pixar. i respect what they are doing for childrens movies, but people overstate how brilliant they still hold up for an adult audience. their movies ultimatly interest me so much less than a good drama will.. i dont honstly believe people are as emotionally invested in all this pixar stuff as they say. if you were seriously about to cry at this half assed trailer, then good for you. your opinions are of course just as valid as mine, but i think you and many other pixar fans are overly nostalgic fools.

Seriously, if you have kids.. especially young ones right now.. that moves you. I think most people on here who dont have kids cant relate.

HELL YEAH!!!That was short but ever so sweet!I am definetely buying a Spanish speaking Buzz Lightyear.
  • Tiwa
I think Toy Story 3 will end up being a portrait of John Lasseter. Andy will go away to college, find zen with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, and realize he's going to be a nerd forever. He'll purchase his first hawaiian shirt and bring all of his toys back to display forever in his work office.
  • lol
that made me laugh out loud
  • thrillhouse
    Aces.
  • The Great Cambino
    This looks great!
  • vadmspartan
Oh god I can already feel my soul being crushed when Andy leaves for college.

    Spanish Buzz Lightyear is awesome.

Somebody has a copy? Disney pulled it out already
  • evilmonkeyg1
It's kinda cool to see a movie that grows up with you. Toy story started out when I was andy's age, hell I am 18 now. Honestly pixar has been making masterpieces to cars and then back to masterpieces, going back to what made that great in the first place has me really excited!
  • RufusFirefly13
Dude, I'm 32 and love everything that Pixar puts out and anything else that is creative. I'm watching Toy Story 1 right now. Gotta love it! Whoo hoo!
  • starscream9289
    They took it down already!

  • RussFischer
Didn't figure it would last. 'Course, by posting it, we probably only accelerated the process. Sorry, will update with a working one asap.
  • stijnbraas
Look for a youtube and rapidshare link on my twitter account @stijnbraas.
  • starscream9289
    AWESOME!

    Thank you, fine sir.
  • carsonreeves1
The first two movies had very strong stories. This one seems to be more mashed up. I didn't get a feel for what it was about. They go to a pre-school and try to bust out? What?? Sorry, doesn't look very good.
  • Mr. Sparkle
I hope you're just joking or something, because I don't like it when people make such extreme assumptions based merely on the trailer for a film, especially since trailers can at times make a terrible film look good and a good film look terrible. Besides, it's Pixar, i'm sure it'll be fine.
  • carsonreeves1
Well I'm comparing this to the last two Toy Story trailers, and Pixar trailers in general, which always give you a clear idea of the story. That's why I'm singling this one out, which doesn't achieve any sort of coherent throughline. If this was a teaser, that would be different. But full trailers are supposed to let you know what's going on.
  • Guest
I completely agree with Carson. See my separate comment further down.
  • Orion
Oh, you mean like The Incredibles?
  • To quote Goliath; "I don't know Davy..."
The trailer to Up, though excellent, like this one, didn't really give you a feel of how emotional and mature the movie was going to be. In fact, when I first saw the Up trailer, I thought "It looks good, but it's really cartoony compared to their recent stuff." I was dead wrong. So we'll see. Still, I AM SO SYCKED FOR THIS IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY! Toy Story was my childhood, and seeing how Pixar has matured over the years, I think we can expect a home run with this one.
  • tasita_xmenfan
I might sound emotional but I'm about to cry. This was my favorite movie as a little girl. I'm really excited
  • Jonathan_Z
    cough...

    Winner.
  • dazedzombie
It was taken down by Disney. Sucks. I really wish that they would have released the trailer (and the bonus footage advertised) in ALL theaters with Toy Story 1 & 2. I went and saw the movies, but still have to wait for it to be released online... The theater I saw the double-features in had nothing but the teaser, and ads for Tinkerbell and Snow-White on DVD and Blu-Ray.
  • Fake Lars
That's very sad that Andy's on Ritalin now, his parents are divorced and he can't afford college.

I'm surprised Pixar is going for such a gritty setting.
  • RufusFirefly13
I saw this a couple of hours ago and I'm glad I did. REMOVED BY DISNEY. I was just about to show my nephew the trailer. Then I heard nothing and saw the disclaimer on my pc.

Anyways, looked great for their first trailer. The best part I remember was Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. Now if Woody got his arm ripped in 2 by an older Andy than these toddlers will tear the non-plastic toys apart. lol. LOOK OUT WOODY!
  • freemachine
Multi-language Buzz Lightyear looks hilarious. Hope they can find a way to bring Zurg back.
  • RufusFirefly13
If Zurg comes back, will they bring back his "son" Buzz?
  • lidlesseye
This was the same trailer that Lasseter showed at D23's WDA panel with some test footage of Mr. Pricklepants and I was so disappointed that TS1&2 3D didn't have it attached.
  • Grant
not to draw attention away from slash film which is the best movie news site on the web but there is a good quality version of the trailer over at trailer addict and it's not HD quality but it's quality
