As for who else they were considering, check out the audio interview from creative screenwriting, where they go through the list of different people they were considering. My favorite was Jean-Claude Van Damme (where he was supposed to do the TimeCop split).

Please do yourself a favor and get the audio book of "World War Z." There's a wonderful cast of audio players, from Mark Hamil to Carl Reiner to John Tuturo to even Alan Alda. I'll make a bold statement and say that no movie could match the creepiness of the audio book version. I remember listening to it late at night while driving home for Christmas and even though we were surrounded by people in cars, it terrified me. Please, please, please get this audio book. All the movie needs is panels and photographs, with this audio book playing over it, and we got a PBS special.

Seinfeld did product placement better than just about any show on TV past or present.

I'm looking forward to your guys thoughts on Trick 'r Treat, which I blind bought on blu-ray Tuesday. I'm not even sure how I feel about it. I think it was too short, predictable and by the numbers but at the same time it feels just long enough, fresh and fun. I do think it's the best movie about Halloween ever made but that's only because it's really the only one unless you count The Nightmare Before Christmas.

This is not a scary film and it's definitely not a horror film. It seemed more like a funny and creepy children's fantasy done Pulp Fiction or Go style with the out of order and interconnecting stories. The more I think about it, the more I'm pleased with it, I just think their was just wayyyy to much hype. It definitely should have had a theatrical run and no doubt would have made some bank if released in October. Shit, I was still hyped on this film two years sfter seeing that badass trailer but it's not even close to the best horror film ever made like many were saying.

In response to the "characters saying the title of the film" brought up by Law Abiding Citizen, on the Edgar Wright/Quentin Tarantino commentary track on the deluxe HOT FUZZ DVD, they talk about that exact thing and how one should react.

Apparently, when Penn of Penn and Teller gets together with one or a group of his fans, they always go to like the latest new release at the movies. And if during the movie if a character says the movie, they all stand up, applaud and say "Yay!" And if the title of the movie is a character, they only do it for the first few times and then that's it.

So if you do go see LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, be sure to clap and cheer when it's said out loud.
  • Friday Night Lights is great because of the guy who plays Coach Taylor. He deserves an Emmy. Everyone else is okay, but he's the one who keeps the show interesting for me.

As a comedy/drama by itself, Lying works well, and is worth seeing as long as you do not expect something amazing.

Also, as a correction to your /Filmcast, Gervais' character is meant to look like Moses, a la Steve Carrell in 'Evan Almighty'.
  • Great filmcast though I'm not sure he'll see Kill Bill 3.

I was supposed to see The Invention of Lying last weekend but the weak WOM scared me off. I love Ricky Gervais. I think he'd make the perfect Oscar host.

Has anyone see Jessie Eisenberg's recent interview with Conan O'Brien?? It's like he's in character all the time. haha
  • Kyle C.
I think that's just him. Many actors are good because they have those strong personalities that seem like they're made up but they're not. He would have to really act to not seem like the neurotic character he always plays.
