The Return of Page 2

zz13d4e298

It has been almost two months since the last time Page 2 has appeared on /Film. What initially happened was that my RSS reader of choice (Newsfire) had become particularly buggy and had begun crashing and deleting my flagged items. I tried a few alternatives, but nothing matched up to Newsfire, even when it was unreliable. Thankfully, Newsfire got an upgrade and is now much less buggy. This happened right at the beginning of my 30-day Film Festival trip. Now that I’m home, back in the office, I’m going to try to get this feature back on track — that’s right, Page 2 is back! (please note that some of the items below are not “new” but holder-overs from the last month)

Page 2 is a compilation of stories and news tidbits, which for whatever reason, didn’t make the front page of /Film. After the jump we’ve included 39 different items, fun images, videos, casting tidbits, articles of interest and more. It’s like a mystery grab bag of movie web related goodness.

Frank Marshall and Peter Sciretta

Ed Catmull, co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios and president of Pixar and Disney Animation Studios, comments on outsourcing: “When companies are driven to outsource for economic reasons, there is a disconnect between the creators and makers of products. There is a further disconnect between marketing and the creators. This curious disconnect disproportionately devalues the making and manufacturing of products. I believe that a stronger connection between creators and production leads to much better products.” [pixartouch]

In a little less than 50% of the fatal red-shirt situations, multiple crewmen were vaporized.” [via: laughingsquid]

    Time paradox?

    Kif, we have a conundrum.
  • AfroVince
I have humbly been put in my place.

    Peter you rock as usual.

I shall now have to go get a Jar Jar tattoo for my shame.
  • That pic of Centurion looks more like Gladiator than 300.
  • Nokoo
It looks as much like 300 as Watchmen looked like The Dark Knight. I can't see how Peter could even miss that it looked amazingly like Gladiator.
  • btaitt
I'd love to fire my proton torpedo down her exhaust port.

    ...someone had to do it.
  • MolaRambo

  • jasonb26
    - i use to really like kevin smith, but after re-watching those 'evening's with...", and listening to the way he speaks to his fans & then this quote from the article: "Judd Apatow is way better at being Kevin Smith now than Kevin Smith ever was. So Judd Apatow should do it for a while, and I should figure out something else..." the guy is beyond full of himself. guess we really should never meet our heroes.

    - hahaha!!! too..many..xxx...death star..jokes..overload,,,

    - kat would be an amazingly sexy cassie hack, i hadn't even thought of her.

    - fucki09, i still love smallville.
  • BamaJuice
10 Comics to forget Smallville?....But I love Smallville...Okay, maybe I just love Allison Mack....
  • I enjoy smallville, sometimes, though much less as of late... We'll see if season 9 can recover. But some of those comics were great. I particularly love Birthright. If they reboot, I would love to see the first part of Birthright included (the African part, mainly).
  • gigaherc
    Awesome compilation, thank you!
  • will1138
    Smallville...it hurts soooo good.
  • rockinrors
Maybe Bluntman and Chronic was such as bomb that it went completely unnoticed. hahahhaah, what fools.

    Page 2 is back, baby!
  • justrobby
That tattoo is not sexy.. You're missing the sexy part to the pic
  • okayflint
I really enjoyed this, certainly something I'd like to see more often, not that that really matters.
  • Hahaha, Peter, sorry for the confusion but I only found the picture, it belongs to a member on SuperHero Hype!
  • Colonel_Kurtz
    1. Welcome back, Page 2!
    2. Thank God that's a Freddy/Grinch mashup! You had me a little worried there for a second.
    3. Kristen Bell - I don't think I've ever actually seen anything she's done, but she gets bonus points from me for putting Fletch in her top 5!
    4. I noticed a couple of technical problems with the x-wings in that Star Wars tattoo. I'd need to examine it more closely...much, much, more closely.
    5. That 3D dress looks like it's about 40 years late. The model is right on time though.
    6. Daft Punk's gonna be in Tron...in Tron.
    7. Ed Catmull - You must NEVER EVER LEAVE PIXAR!
    8. John Malkovich scares the ever loving shit out of me.
    9. I think I would prefer a low budget faithful adaptation of an actual Arthur Conan Doyle mystery to a slick Hollywood production that tries to do something 'new' with his characters. I'm not saying this is that low budget faithful adaptation. I'm just sayin...
    10. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway? I'm no expert on the goings on on Broadway, but I would have assumed that had been done 30 years ago. It just seems like a natural fit to me.
  • Frank Castle
The Star Wars tattoo resides on a Suicide Girl. See the rest of it here:

    - the vampire google search reminded me of south park per say
  • motorjed
Excellent. I was wondering when/hoping that page 2 would make a return.
  • Rockie
    the power of page 2
  • Great! I love Page 2, and again some great things here.
  • Peter R
I love the return of Page 2 action. Couple notes:
-I agree with above that Kevin Smith needs some time to get his stuff straight. His latest writings do seem a bit douchey. Seems to be switching between feeling sorry for himself and convincing himself that hes not feeling sorry for himself and that he has moved on = midlife crisis.
-The Star Wars tattoo is of course awesome. Pixar one...not so much.
-Gareth David-Lloyd is sweet in Torchwood...I think I would enjoy a nice low-budget PBS-esque Sherlock Holmes with him in it.
-Hope the Bob Marley movie does die...it will not be good.
-All Saints Day is gonna be terrible.

    That is all.
  • Itri12
Great stuff. Glad you did it.
  • thrillhouse
I am in love with Kat Dennings.
  • Andreas
    "Looks a lot like 300."
