Toy Story 3 Trailer Reveals New Story Details

Toy Story 3

Over the weekend Disney released a new television spot for the limited engagement 3D rerelease of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, which you can check out embedded after the jump. Attached to the special double feature on October 2nd will be the first real trailer for Toy Story 3. Jim Hill has the scoop on the new trailer, which gives a ton of new details on the upcoming third film. If you don’t want to know, don’t read on, but chances are you’ll be watching the trailer when it is released, so why not?

[The new trailer shows] Woody and the gang at Sunnyside Daycare. Where life among the toddlers looks like something out of “Lord of the Flies.” … Buzz and Co. get absolutely brutalized by these 3-year-olds. Which is why they decide that “We’re busting out of here.” The only problem is – during their initial escape attempt – the Space Ranger gets severely damaged. To the point that Woody & friends are forced to hit Lightyear’s reset button. Which then puts Buzz into Spanish-speaking mode. … When Buzz is in Spanish-speaking mode – he then becomes this hot-blooded, flamenco-dancing romantic figure prone to grand gestures. Which Jessie winds up being quite taken with.

Hill speculates that given the promotional catchphrase for Toy Story 3 is “No Toy Gets Left Behind”, we’ll assume that the third film is more of an epic adventure story than the first two films. Lee Unkrich said at Comic-Con that Toy Story 3 story team had actually drawn inspiration from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, and that the third film will feel like the third part of one fairly seamless story.

And here is the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 3D double feature tv spot I mentioned earlier:

So...I went to the Toy Story 3D showing, and the only trailer they had on there was the OLD TS3 trailer, where they are building the sign, no new one showing real footage from the movie????

So its basically the fishtank plot from Finding Nemo, trying to escape from their 'prison'.

So is that Pixars way of showing some love to the hispanic people, without actually having to create a new character lol. Doesn't bother me any, not going to get all David Chen and complain about it. :P

Let's be honest, we'll NEVER see Speedy Gonzales ever again, unfortunately.

LOL. Shame this world is incredibly PC nowadays; still, can't blame someone for taking offense at Speedy's stereotypical antics

apparently in the uk we are only getting toy story in 3d theres no word about the second one coming to screens.
  • IMDB says us UKers are getting Toy Story 2 in January. I assumed Toy Story would be then as well, I'm super stoked if I can see it next weekend though. I got two weeks off work coming.

*Edit* Cineworld has Toy Story 3D listed as October 2 also, but no sign of Toy Story 2. Where's our double-feature? Maybe ultra-limited run when we get Toy Story 2 next year?

But that means we have to pay twice for the two films, i know, i saw that toy story 3d comes out next Friday but as you said "where's our double feature!!!!???"
  • wait, spanish...really? this will still probably be awesome but at the moment its sounding a bit, dare I say...homogenous...

Can't wait! Pixar's track record is disgustingly perfect.
  • Everything in this article is awesome. So excited for the double feature and TS3, aside from all of the action/adventure elements I have a feeling it's going to be quite emotional as well.

the more I learn of Toy Story 3's plot, the more it sounds like a mix of 'The Brave Little Toaster' and 'The Great Escape', starring Steve McQueen :)
