From the studio that brought you “Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda” comes “How To Train Your Dragon” — an adventure comedy set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. The story centers around a Viking teenager, who lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. Initiation is coming, and this is his one chance to prove his worthiness to his tribe and father. But when he encounters, and ultimately befriends, an injured dragon, his world is turned upside down.

How to Train Your Dragon hits theaters in March 26th 2010.

    "In 3D!" "3D ride".

Talk about overselling. The teaser is meh.

This trailer is terrible! Why is the quality abysmal?

10 bucks says this turns into a tv series and/or franchise.
  • MortenKVebjornsen
    I think you're already 10 bucks richer :)
  • The fantasy genre for 3D movies is getting a little tired. I love the fantasy genre, but there are other times and places. Also, the dragon looks wonky. It looks like something I could buy from Daz3D or Renderosity for cheapies.

Ha! I love that they used part of John Debney's score from "Cutthroat Island"! That score is a masterpiece.
  • what is with the 3D films lately - talk about too much of a not so good thing! The trailer doesnt really get me that excited!
  • What has Hollywood believing 3D is a viable sales pitch? Are people actually going to see this simply because it's 3D? And they argue that's it's not gimmick... pah!
  • BrendonConnelly
Much as I want 3D to not be used as a gimmick, it does shift a lot of tickets. It's a sales pitch that seems to work - see the international success of Ice Ag 3 in 3D for a whole heap of evidence.

Previz drawings from few years ago were much more interesting than this trailer...

i thought they said this was traditional hand drawn animation. guess not

    Hand drawn animation...from Dreamworks?

    I don't think so.

This will probably, like Kung Fu Panda, be one of the best Dreamworks Animation features, since Chris Sanders and Dean Deblois are behind it. Lilo and Stitch was one of the best Disney animated features in recent years.
  • Weyland_Yutani
all of the beauty and talent of Lilo and Stitch tossed out in an alley like so much garbage. It's really a shame that those artists are forced to sacrifice their ability and talent for middle of the road CGI3D.

I cry for all of the truly great animated films that we will never see.
  • Anti-Septic
The trailer shown absolutely nothing. Worst trailer ever, hasnt even peaked my interest in the least.

To get an Idea of what a good CGI is with Dragons, maybe you should watch 'Dragon Hunters' which came out last year.

    Special effects are crazy !
