Overture Films has released a trailer for Grant Heslov’s The Men Who Stare At Goats. Based on Jon Ronson’s 2004 book, Ewan McGregor stars in this so-unbelievable-yet-true story of a reporter who is chasing after a crazy story. U.S. Army First Earth Battalion unit member Lyn Cassady (George Clooney) claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit using ancient Chinese mind techniques to develop paranormal powers for American soldiers. This elite experimental group have developed “unparalleled psychic powers to read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it.”

Aside from the clunky voice over, the film looks like it might be a fun adventure, and you can’t go wrong with this cast — This dark comedy also features Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Spacey. The screenplay was also featured on the 2006 Black List, a listing of the best unproduced screenplays of the year. The film is set to premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival, before hitting theaters nationwide on November 6th. Reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady (Academy Award®winner George Clooney), a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. According to Cassady, the New Earth Army is changing the way wars are fought.
