Frank Langella Joins Wall Street 2

wall street 2 frank langella

Frank Langella is in talks to join the cast of Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. Langella would play Lewis Zabel, an old-time broker who mentors Shia LaBeouf’s character, a young Wall Street broker named Jacob. It is not clear if this is the same role that Javier Bardem , and later, Bardem’s No Country For Old Men co-star Josh Brolin had been considering. The Variety article mentions that Brolin is still in talks for the film, which leads us to believe that the two roles are seperate, despite both being described as mentors of Shia LaBeouf’s character.

Michael Douglas returns as Gordon Gekko, a role which earned him an Academy Award. The film is set nearly two decades after the first film, with Gekko, having spent 14-years in prison for insider trading and security fraud, now making the lecture circuit as a published financial author. He mentors Jacob in hopes to reconnect with his daughter Winnie, Jacob’s wife. Carrey Mulligan is rumored to be in talks to play Winnie.

In a previous post, Russ questioned the film’s rushed schedule, which is scheduled to begin later this month, with a tentative release set for first quarter 2010. It seems obvious that Fox is rushing the project into production to take advantage of the now topical economic-inspired storyline.

Love Frank Langella, hate the fact LeBeef is still in this.

Shia is doing a sequel to a 20 year old movie>? Was Charlie Sheen busy with Two and a Half Men?

Wall Street 2? Come on, that movie is so old, does it really need a sequel? Is that title even marketable? does your average movie goer even remember the first one?
  • Frank Langella,

please use either the Nixon or Dracula voice

Why ruin a good film with what looks like a terrible idea for a sequel. Makes me think about The Godfather III, especially considering that LaBeouf as about as talented as Sophia Coppola when it comes to acting.

Plus, I think American's in general are just so sick and disgusted in the country's financial position that I hardly think people will flock into theaters to see a film about a bunch of blood sucking Wall Street douchbags.
