Zombieland Red Band Movie Trailer

zombieland_slice

At Comic Con Sony showed off a funny, gory red band trailer for Ruben Fleischer’s  Zombieland, and the clip is now online at MySpace. I love this trailer. OK, it doesn’t have the good little Cynthia Knickerbocker interlude in the original trailer, but there’s a lot of great slo-mo gore and undead destruction in here. And I’m a sucker for a good cock-block joke, especially when there are about ten people left in the world to do the cock-blocking. See the age-restricted trailer after the jump. (Apologies for the silly MySpace age checking, too.)

We saw an early edit of this clip show up just after Comic Con, but that was thankfully taken down. (It’s really better to see the finished version.) And in this final version you can see more of one of the scenes I described that was shown in Hall H, where Jesse Eisenberg’s character has to fight off a newly zombified Amber Heard in the confines of his apartment. That sequence hints that there could be some actual horror in this movie to go alongside all the very evident comedy.

Here’s the studio blurb on the film:

Columbia Pictures’ horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a big wuss – but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) is an AK-totin’, zombie-slayin’ badass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.

Zombieland invades theaters on October 9th 2009.

    cant wait!
  • Haha.. looks like I might actually be enjoying a zombie movie for the first time since SotD! I actually really liked 28 Weeks Later, but I wouldn't really consider that a "zombie" movie. In any case, this movie looks awesome and I can't wait to go see it with a group of friends and talk about it the rest of the night.

do you always make your detailed social plans this far in advance?

    That's mean! ~:-O

Looks great! Woody is going to be a blast
  • HAHA!!! This movie is going to be classic. I just hope they haven't used all the funny lines in the trailers. Good stuff.

    You gotta a pretty mouth.

This looks hilarious. I had my doubts after the last trailer, but this one stepped it up big time. I love the "3" painted on the sides of all the cars (clearly a reference to former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt). That must definitelycome from Woody Harrelson's character.
  • haha, looks awesome, so stoked!

This looks so awesome. Cant wait to see it.

I'm not sure what you're all seeing in this -- there isn't a single joke here I haven't heard countless times before, Woody feels like he's sleep-walking through the whole thing, and the only positive here seems to be that a studio has poured a lot of money into making a flashy, bombastic zombie flick that seems like it's put a big-budget sheen on the same stuff we saw done on the cheap in the thousand other zombie films that have come before. Even Emma Stone's make-up is overdone. I don't see it; I think the blog-chatter has been wholly manufactured by Columbia's marketing team. It's not like Sam Raimi produced it or the director or writers have an interesting pedigree. "From the minds that brought you "The Joe Schmo Show?"

So what's actually exciting about this to you guys? Is there something here I'm missing?

Have to agree. I'm sure it'll be entertaining, but this is not going to be some "great" zombie flick. Is Jesse Esienberg supposed to be channeling his inner Michael Cera or is that just the way the trailer is cut? And do they realize Emma Stone looks like a vampire when she's covered in makeup and bangs?
  • elharris84
I think Eisenberg was doing the Michael Cera thing before Michael Cera, if that makes sense. I suppose my point is that Eisenberg was playing the shy, awkward kid back in 2002 in "Roger Dodger."
  • GregoryV
I agree, Jesse Eisenberg has been playing this akward-shy kid since Roger Dodger. Great cast, good film, and he made out with Jessica Beal on screen. Kudos to him! But seriously, he still looks the same but as long it's working for him, it's all good.

Watched the trailer...left me feeling underwhelmed, excuse the pun..but it looks totally Braindead. And before anyone steps up to ask 'where's your sense of humour?'....Yes, I do actually have one...but this left me feeling bemused rather than amused.
If you want a great example of a humour in a zombie movie....just watch 'Return of The Living Dead'.

who would win in a battle Shaun of The Dead vs Zombieland

Looks fun! I'll definitely see it!

Having said that... Is anyone else getting tired of Zombie movies? It seems like every once in a while a great filmmaker will come around and rejuvenate the genre, but I can't help but hope that there are more original ideas out there. Besides, the genre has been parodied to death already and we've already had a slew of Zom-Com's that have come out in the past decade alone. Do we really need another one? The hope that this trailer gives me is that it is the Zom-Com to end all other Zom-Com's. I hope that is true.

Hell no! I can never tire of zombie movies; they're like comfort food. Even a bad zombie movie is always good for some mindless entertainment! Whenever I feel too tired, lazy or simply not in the mood for an "intelligent" film, zombies are my go-to saviors!
  • I love a zombie movie to zone-out to. No need to think or ponder, just watch shit die in a bloody mess. Sometimes that's all I want from a film. When that's the case, zombie films do the trick. This one in particular looks like it's going to be a riot!
  • thrillhouse
    I'm in.
  • Fir3Wolf
I wanted to see this movie already, but now that I've seen the red band trailer I want to see it that much more. This movie just looks like a lot of fun.
  • Exciting.... Love zombie movies
  • optimusprime
looks really good. looking forward to it
  • Agmatic
What's the Johnny Cash song in there, anybody know?
  • Agmatic
Figured it out - its the remix to Country Boy if anyone else cares.
  • dsahawker
YES! I wish zombies were real, they look like so much fun
  • LuMendz
Looks like so much fun. Can't wait! Love the bathroom scene.
  • jason B
again, cannot wait, but i will be EXTREMELY pissed/disappointed when we get the very predictable ending where woody gets turned into a zombie at the end, and the kid who has grown to love/admire him is forced to kill him.

so goddamn predictable and such a bad move.

but i'll see it opening night because other than that - its gonna rock!!!!!!
  • bburgy
It looks like a fun film. I typically dislike fast zombies, but I don't think that will even be a distraction given how awesome everything else in the film looks.
