Yeah, I think it's gonna be pretty terrible. She is best in movies where she is inexperienced with or naïve about something: Lost in Translation; Vicky, Christina, Barcelona; Match Point; Ghost World. Russian spies usually aren't very inexperienced. She has no problem looking sexy, but she certainly has a problem acting sexy. She doesn't perform with any presence. This should be an interesting/cringe-inducing performance to watch.

This whole role is dependent on her accent. If she sounds like she belongs in Rocky and Bullwinkle... well, it might just kill the whole movie for me.

So, my optimism is in stasis until I hear the voice.

Why does Black Widow need to have an accent at all? She is highly trained KGB spy, do you know what this mean? She can speak English better than most of the Americans or Brits. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY ACCENT! If she has an accent she is no spy at all, how can you be disguised spy if you have an accent and people recognize that you are a foreigner? It doesn't make any sense.
I hope Favreau had enough brain to understand that.

You probably right and she will have slight Russian accent just because some people cannot understand how is it possible for foreigners not to have an accent. This convention is rooted so deeply I am afraid no one will try to break it.

And of course there is no chance everybody will be pleased from the result. I am sure some people will say that the accent was ok, and some will curse and say that it was awful. It's pretty much depends on you.

I'm excited for Iron Man 2, I really am. And I can't wait to see the panel at Comic Con... but I am not buying her as Black Widow. Hopefully they'll have some footage for us at SDCC so I can be proven wrong, but she just looks too damn cute... it's like asking Jewel Staite (whom i adore from Firefly/Serenity) to be a vicious vampire... you just go awwwwwww you're adorable!
I still think they should have gone with someone else. But hey maybe she can fight her husband when he's Deadpool! oh no wait that can't happen because Fox owns X-Men movie rights... maybe marvel will hold out on selling Deadpool... But he's also Green Lantern... eh we'll see.
