I have to agree with you. Don Cheadle is one of the better (I'm gonna get shit for saying this) black actors in Hollywood. He's an excellent actor. Howard is the one who is overrated, in my opinion. I would have preferred it if they had kept Howard simply because it annoys me to no end when a character switches actors (see the girl from the latest Mummy installment and Maggie Gyllenhal in The Dark Knight, although she was a way better actress than Katie Holmes) but if they had to replace him, I am glad they chose Cheadle. They couldn't have chosen a better actor for the role, I think.

I agree, the actor switch is just annoying. No matter how good an actor is, overrated or underrated, it screws up the character. Don Cheadle is a great actor, BUT his portrayal will never be a copy of Howards original character, which is what I'm looking for in a sequel. He can make it his own character bla bla bla, whatever he wants, but that's not what I'm looking for.

I expect continuity in a sequel. I expect the same character, therefore I expect the same actor. If Howard isn't as good as Cheadle, I don't care. Are we going to put Denzel in the third film? How about Samuel L. Jackson in the fourth? Just cause they need a Rhodes who can yell throughout the film? This isn't a high school relationship where you can just dump someone when someone better comes along. They chose to put Howard on the screen as Rhodes, so he is Rhodes.

I agree. Hollywood needs to put a greater emphasis on continuity. I hated Katie Holmes in Batman Begins (we're really suppose to believe she's a D.A.? Right! She looks like a liitle girl.), but I still would of preferred her in The Dark Knight. She was gonna die anyway. I would of liked to see that!

I still think Scarjo is miscast. I think she's hot, but i don't see the point in casting her as Black Widow, I kinda see someone with more of an edge like Kate Beckinsale. But whatever sells tickets...thats what its really about when it comes down to it. Look at Reynolds cast as Green Lantern.

The Rhodes thing still bothers me a bit. As Hartman said, he was set up as Rhodes already, so he IS Rhodes. Cheadle may be a great actor but Howard already portrayed Rhodes his way. Cheadle would portray him another way or try his best to portray him like Howard, but they're just not the same.
