zombieland_toystory_taxidermia_9_posters

We’ve got a bunch of new posters today for films that are, if not all over the map, at least hitting all corners of geekdom. First up, there’s the premiere of the one-sheet teaser for Zombieland, and it’s pretty tasty. It looks kinda like the Picturehouse logo and the cover of The Pixies’ Bossanova got together and had a little poster baby. How could that be bad? Answer: it isn’t. Much better than floating heads, zombie eyes and a splash of blood.

After the jump, a new Toy Story 1 & 2 re-release image caught in the wild, and images for 9 and the long-awaited US release of Taxidermia.

Steve at Collider snapped an image of this combo image for the Toy Story 1 & 2 double-feature 3D re-release event that starts on October 2 of this year. No big surprises here: cute alien from the films, 3D glasses on three eyes, notes that it’s a double feature. Yep, all bases covered.

I don’t really know what’s going on with the very pixellated new image for 9; seems like it must be part of a pseudo-viral marketing campaign, but I’ve been doing my best so far to remain ignorant of the film. Seems like 9 is going to be a better experience if I go in cold, and I’d like to preserve that inasmuch as possible. So enjoy the image and sound off in the comments if you want to explain it to the rest of the class.

Finally, there’s a neat image from Taxedermia. Peter mentioned the trailer the other day in Page 2; I’m a bit baffled by the fact that this movie is finally getting released in the States. I saw it in 2007 and was amused and entertained, if not bowled over. But if you want some crazy images that push a few boundaries of what you normally see released to theatres, this is definitely a movie for you. Fire ejaculation, grotesque over-eating, bizarre taxidermy…all that, and more!

The bar code on the poster for 9 is actually a url.

    http://9.msite.tv/qr1

Not much there but a very small "exclusive vid and a sms address for news alerts.
  • As others have stated, the "image" on the 9 poster is a QR Barcode, a new type of barcode on certain products (its on my deodorant stick, too). It holds more info than a regular barcode. If you scan it with a compatible scanner (like the one on my G1), it'll open a link to a website that has "exclusive" pics or more for 9. The older 9 poster had a QR barcode, also, in the bottom corner.

The 9 poster is a QR code; not too many phones in the states have QR/barcode readers, but in Asia they're all the rage.

The pixelated image is a 2D barcode (more exact, a QR code: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code), which points to:

    http://9.msite.tv/gr1, gives a nice 404 error.
But http://9.msite.tv/ is a mobile site with some info and trailers/clips.

The pixellated image for the 9 poster is a QR code. I guess, when photographed it takes you to some viral material or the official movie website.

if you have a g1 phone and barcode scan the 9 poster it sends you to a website
  • The pixel image in the 9 poster is a QR Code/Quickmark code. If you have the correct software you can translate that image (which is like a barcode) into a text string that reads:

    http://9.msite.tv/qr1

My friend has a camera-phone with the right software to read those codes and translate them.
  • i never got that software to work properly :(
  • ew, Taxidermia makes me want to go vegetarian.

to figure out what the pixelated image is, follow the instructions on the poster.
