Did you notice that The Hangover was actually just a complete rip off of Dude Where’s My Car? Well not really, but after watching this cleverly edited video from College Humor, you may be convinced. Check out the video after the jump.

“Dude, what movie did we see last night? We don’t know either. It was about a couple guys waking up after a night of getting trashed, only to find they are missing something important. Who was in it, Andy from “the Office”?  Or was it “that” guy from “That ‘70s Show” and that guy from “American Pie”? What was that movie about waking up with a hangover and wondering where their car was? Oh yeah. That one. But was there a tiger and a baby involved? From the quirky, immature protagonists to the bizarre recollections they go through on their memory odyssey, you’d quickly forget which one is which.”

Thanks to /Film reader constantinos for the tip.

    That is really funny,

The writers ripped off the 3 characers and their traits from a writer named Brandon Helms. His website is www.freewebs.com/brandon00mf He painted a couple rooms for me way back in 2006, well before the movie came out. He told me about his writing and that he was submitting it to craigslist writing ads. There are just too many similarities! When I saw the movie, i thought Brandon had made it as a writer, but after calling him to congratulate him, he didnt know what I was talking about. I feel bad for him. I also heard the part about the friend getting married and going to vegas was ripped off from another guy. Hollywood---can't trust anyone.

People have been saying its a rip off for a while, but that doesn't bother me since it was a way better movie then crappy Dude Where's My Car. I don't even think that movie has a cult following.
  • Just a tail of marijuana smoke.
  • Twitter Sucks
does something need to have a cult following to be relevant? you clan crap you :P

  • lux
OMG! english is my second language and I though I was wrong using "than" cause a lot of people writes "then" lol

    fucking analphabetic bastards.

  • didn't you guys mention this in a podcast? maybe it was a different movie podcast.... but i heard this already
  • I'd say it was just a better version of "dude wheres my car?" The hAngover made on my top 3 list of hilarious movies.
  • Brian McCock
yes the story lines are the same, but hangover was way better than dude wheres my car.

thats all hollywood does, take old shit and make it into new shit.
  • edc2
    dude, where's my dude?
  • Agemoi
Yeah i said this the night i saw this movie lol. I said to my friends "this was, basically, a more mature and realistic dude wheres my car?" Naturally i was using mature with a grain of salt but im sure you get my meaning. Anyway, funny it took this long to be brought up on here.
  • No wonder I loved The Hangover. I was a huge fan of Dude Where's My Car
  • I haven't seen this movie YET but I have seen 'Dude Where's My Car'.....sheesh I mean, the guy from 'He's Just Not That Into You' is in 'The Hangover'....it's GOT TO BE GOOD
  • The Hangover was infinitely better than Dude Where's My Car. This is like saying The GOdfather and The Whole Nine Yards are the same since they're both about mobsters.
  • Edraid
Uh what about them ripping off the dear scene in Tommy Boy?
