winatripfinal

/Film has teamed up with The Weinstein Co for the mother of all contests. To promote Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming World War II film, we will be rewarding one lucky winner with a Inglourious Basterds UK Premiere prize package, which includes:

- (2) Round Trip tickets to London to attend the Inglourious Basterds Premiere on Thursday, July 23rd.
- Two nights hotel accommodations
- $500 worth of spending money for the trip

To enter you must fill out the form below. The contest will close on July 16th at 11:59pm, and a winner will be selected the following day — July 17th. Winners have 24 hours to confirm, and if they do not, another winner will be selected. So please provide working contact information.

Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own…

Inglourious Basterds hits theaters in the United States on August 21st 2009.

does IB hit theaters Aug. 21 in the UK as well?
  • Henrik
Fuck you /film for not letting non US members join the contest. Its good to see you dont play favorites.
  • Simon
So... UK members cant enter a contest about winning tickets to a UK premiere. That just fucking great guys. Brilliant!
  • From the Contest Rules/Privacy - -

"WARNING: The prize item is real; not a toy! The prize awarded in this Sweepstakes is intended for adult use only. It is dangerous if used at all, and certainly if it is not used properly. The entrant who accepts and receives the prize does so knowingly, fully appreciating and accepting the actual or potential risk of death or injury that this item presents."

    ...Um...What?
  • TC7
OMG. I pray I win, I've been waiting for this movie since Quentin first mentioned in, and I've been upsets with is since last August. I read the screenplay like four times, and I've looked it up on IMDb every day for the last four months. IM UPSETS!
  • Are you trying to write upsets? I am seriously fascinated by this word choice.
  • Derek
If you read the contest rules theres some funny stuff in there...

    namely....
"The prize item is real; not a toy! The prize awarded in this Sweepstakes is intended for adult use only. It is dangerous if used at all, and certainly if it is not used properly."
  • Please pick me, Peter. That's all I can say.
  • DrChicago
Peter, I'm 18 (born in '91), so why does it say "You must be 18" when I click submit?
  • meeting quentin tarantino would be awesome
  • Preston Meyers
As someone who lives in the exact middle of the US, I'd say I'm pleased.
  • As a UK resident it would seem completely crazy that we can't enter.
  • BigM1ke
    Only for USA? Booooooooooooo
  • Colonel_Kurtz
    America! Fuck Yeah!
  • BigM1ke
Where you singing it with the happy tone or the sad tone?
  • Okay, time to break the "but I don't get to enter" streak. This is totally awesome, I'd love to win. /Film > Ain't it Cool (then again, you all knew that already).

And for those complaining, move here to America- we're not nearly as bad as everyone would have you think we are. Come on....we've got strippers.
  • Why is everybody blaming /Film for countries outside of the US not being able to enter? Basically any time you see a contest sponsored by another company on a website, it's the company who sets the rules (since they're the ones providing the prize).

Do you honestly expect /Film or any other site to turn down a contest this good just because readers outside of the US can't enter? That would be ridiculous. All that would do is stop *anybody* from enjoying the prize.
  • Ant
ok, i understand that. But when have we ever seen any competition for countries outside the US? And as you get this reaction for most of the competitions how about a little foot note to humour us.
  • Mike
Definitely agree. I mean you'll have your chance another time.

...but I still hope you guys can get an answer to the "1991 problem". Don't mean to be a bother, but this is something that would be a once in a lifetime thing for me and many others.
  • Mike
Peter are you doing something about the users who are getting errors saying that they have to be 18 to enter but are putting in birthdays that are for someone 18 and up. Mostly people born in 1991. Please fix this.
  • Ant
Don't usually moan but this is ridiculous other countries cannot enter. I'm in UK and can't even enter. Boo to /Film :(
  • Darusame
When is the premiere for the film?
  • Awww man, I wanted to enter.
I thought with it being in the UK I would be able to, but apparently not.
  • I was about to lament my not being able to enter despite living in the UK, but then realised I'd just be parroting what's been said before.

    Oh well.
  • i've heard it's on the 23rd July from allinlondon.com
  • I LIVE IN LONDON! fuck let me enter this i don't need the tickets to london or the spending money (ok maybe not) but this is fucked up.
  • How curious. The British premiere of a film that British people can't enter a competition to go to. How very curious indeed.
  • Joe
I didn't know that being born on 4/23/1991 makes me younger than 18. I guess that my college, my work and my country were fooled by this lie.
  • abergamo
same with 5/1/1991... i dont get it.
  • quintushalls
Craigslist: "Willing to sleep with hot blonde supermodel in exchange for tickets to Tarantino's movie premiere in UK"
  • Sucks that us non-Americans can't enter though I'm sure it is a legal thing. How bout having a small make up contest for the rest of us consisting of a dvd pack or something?
  • No EuroEntries means more of a chance for me to win! Thanks /Film!
  • Mike
Ummm Peter I think there is something wrong here with the entry form because I put in my birthday of February 18th 1991 and it says must be 18 years or older to enter. Last time I checked I was 18 years old, but maybe I should double check.
  • I was born on February 15th 1991, and I had the same issue.
  • Mike
I'm wondering if I should just lie about my age because I know I'm 18 but this retarded contest doesn't understand that. I've been trying to get Peter or Adam or someone to address this issue but to no avail yet.
  • quatrecents
So I'm English, living in England yet I cant enter a competition to enter our premiere? Nice.
  • scf
i'm in the friging UK and can't enter. WTF (also i'm sure this is not a /Film choice)
  • Brian
Canadians get the shaft...AGAIN! We save your American butts in war all the time but you can't even include us in contests. *hmpf*
  • daveshere
what's all this aboot then? Canada eh?
  • Kahekili
You guys burn down our White House, and you expect us to let you in on movie premiere contests? I don't think so.
  • Thanks for the potential hookup, Peter/Weinsteins.
  • Alex
    When exactly is the premiere?
  • Boooo, where's the love for the Canadians?
  • ...
    What juiceless said.
No love for your Canadian customers?
    I call fail sir.
    ...
  • Ben
Yeah. If you let me win, I'll only take the tickets.
  • jnp
hey what about /readers aoutside the US?
  • John Smith
Exactly. Kind of lame that such an international website has a contest like this.
