TRON 2 Plot Confirmed

Walt Disney Studios has finally revealed a short plot synopsis for Joseph Kosinski’s sequel to Tron, a film almost 30 years in the making.

TRON (title not final) (In Disney Digital 3D™)

TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

I’m still not digging the super confusing title “TRON”. They really need to do something to distingish it from the first film somehow. I’m still a fan of TRON 2.0 but I know some people think that sounds dated in the web 1.0 world. And still no announced release date, although IMDb lists 2011.

i think its going to be released in fall 2010 cause disney doesnt currently have a huge tentpole dated at that time.

What ever happened to the title TR2N? I kinda thought was weird but cool. The more i hear about this the more i can't wait. i'm like 16 so i still haven't seen the first tron but and looking oh so hard for it.

I think Tron 2.0 is a good title to. and personally i'm sort of a fan of TR2N, or whatever it was. I think it fits well with a futuristic computer type movie.

I love 2RON. What an inspired idea.
You could still call it 'Tron', but the spelling allows you to tell the difference between the old and new without having to say 'Tron (2011)'
Plus if you imagine it in the tron font it looks pretty damn cool.

Wait a sec... how is Flynn back in the computer world? He gets out at the end. Like un-digitized or whatever. He was the new CEO of Encom. How does he have a kid and with whom? And why does he go back just two years later??? And why can't he get out? So many questions.

Time for a real trailer Disney. Quit being so tight-lipped

It stands to reason that if Flynn is so addicted to games as he is, he could have gone back to Tron of his own free will. It would be an interesting angle of the story to have his son find him only to have Flynn not want to go back. It could even be that his father has become a surrogate for the master control program. Although I haven't seen it, it sounds like he may not be all that good in the teaser. He beats another player in light cycle and then attacks the guy with a disc while he's on the ground saying "it's only a game!"
While I think that's an interesting angle, I doubt Disney would go that way. Most likely there is some force in Tron (maybe even the MCP who isn't completely gone) that sucks Flynn back in.
