foot clan

In April, it was announced that Mirage Studios  would be making a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action movie with initial discussions involve using “hybrid” ninja turtles. Co-creator Peter Laird said early on that the plan is to do a “Batman Begins-style” reboot, retelling the Turtles’ origin story. But when discussion came to the storyline and villain, Laird seemed more excited about involving some of the characters not explored in the film, like Baxter Stockman and the robotic mousers, than revisiting The Foot Clan.

But it looks like the new film will be revisiting the story of Shredder and the Foot Clan after all. /Film reader movieboy alerts me to a casting call for martial arts experts to be part of the “stealth TMNT nemesis, the Foot Clan.” Details after the jump.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in association with Mirage Studios, 4Kids Entertainment and TMNT Productions will host an open casting call for martial arts experts to audition for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, hitting theaters in 2011. We will select the best from the auditions to be a part of the stealth TMNT nemesis, the Foot Clan.

The casting call is part of the 25th Anniversary Shell-ebration of the “Heroes on a Half Shell” in 2009, and a great way to bring together all schools of martial arts to become part of the new generation of TMNT.

We’re reaching out to ask for your participation in spreading the word to your associates, friends and family within the martial arts community. Details of the event are below, and final rules/regulations will be posted shortly.

  • Did anyone seriously think they would make a TMNT reboot without Shredder?
  • WashUrFilthyVag
    sometimes i do.
  • TMNTnikkka
PLease make it PG-13. *crosses fingers*

    reads article

    "....4kids Entertainment...." God Dammit!!
  • Mag
I had hopes till you pointed out 4kids....UGH
  • ...
    PG-13?
I want an R-rated Turtles film,
but ya, like you pointed out, it's never happening.
    Too bad...
    ...
  • well TDK was pg-13 and was still awesome and could arguably been rated R by some
  • Brendan McD
Secret of the Ooze was awesome. I remember watching the first one as a kid, and it was just very old-looking, and scary, but not in a good way. I was scared of the turtles.
  • Will Sam Rockwell reprise his role from the first TMNT movie? Now that will be a film I can get behind.
  • Chris
Keno is judging the auditions! Nice!

if this is not a pg-13 i wont watch it

plus two things are wrong with this casting

    1) it says "4kids Entertainment" thats so f-ing off putting
    2) 14 year old and younger can audition to be a freaking Foot Clan member

this casting feels like the movie will end up as a kiddy TMNT movie with a PG rating.

I believe it says "Fourteen years or older (under 18 must have adult permission for audition)," so you can't audition if you are under 14. Only older.
And as a former Taekwando student (with friends who did stunt work in feature films), you can get a lot of talent at that young an age. And by then, many have already grown to an acceptable height to play (or at least double for) and older person. Especially the women.

Of course, I'm still hoping for a PG-13 rating. If anything, as dark at the original TMNT movie if not more-so, but my hopes aren't high.

It says 14 yeard old and older...
  • N9NE_teen_AD4
The first turtles movie was dark and gritty, the second was a bit lighter and more fun, the third and fourth aren't really worth the mention, but the whole series together remains one of child favourites. I hope this reboot brings back unexplored villians like baxtor, the rat king, and dare I say...KRANG...lol
  • jforce
First of all having 4kids there isn't that bad of a thing. They let alot of pretty dark stuff go on during the duration of the new toon. All the mistakes such as fast forward and such were due to pressure from playmates toys....who wasn't mentioned at all...weird.

Second: yes 14 years and older. Do you not remember that the foot clan is a gang and starts recruiting at an early age? Remember the first film.

Third: Anyone who wants to see anything associated with the old toon in this movie is completely braindead. Beebop, Rocksteady, The white "fly" version of baxter, April as a reporter, technodrome, and krang need to be wiped from the public memory as having anything to do with TMNT. Read the comics for crying out loud!

finally they're bringing back the damn suits. CGI is a step down from live action and what jim henson achieved long before we had nothing but video game-type films. No doubt transformer's success is a factor here. Well I'm a huge turtles fan. I have some of the toys, loved to read the more, what's the word, uh gritty comics so I hope the film reflects the original stuff more. Really the orignal comics were some insane shit.

they using cgi and live action
  • YES... to the foot clan. I hope the movie's at least decent.
  • jason B
yeah if they take the kids route again, it'll be pretty disappointing. doesn't have to be R, but this brutal new pg-13 would be great.
  • alex
ernie reyes jr as a judge??? he played keno in the secret of the ooze, awesome that he's involved in this even if only at a casting level.
  • razalian
I hope it goes that far in the movie. It will be PG-13 (i am hoping) movie. But that would be awesome if they really pushed it like the Dark Knight, cause that movie I was hoping it would be R. TMNT should be R cause thats basically how the comics were. We will only see.
