Calidude, this one’s for you. I may have been remiss in not sufficiently hyping The Horde’s position on the Frightfest roster, but I can at least make it up to you by bringing you the trailer. Watch that embedded after the break but first, a little background.

This cops, robbers and zombies film is the debut of the writer and director team Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, and was produced by Xavier Gens, director of Frontière(s) and Hitman. It tells the story of cops and mobsters teaming up when a wave of the undead come crashing in. And boy - what a wave it is. This trailer ends with some of the most zombie-saturated footage that I’ve ever seen. Huuuuuge numbers of the grabby, bitey things.

See for yourself:

And there we have it - another year, another French horror film to get everybody going. About time it was a zombie picture, too.

This particular undead uprising is being pitched as an ‘end of days’ battle, a flesh-eating apocalypse. I don’t know about you, but that sounds pleasantly bleak to me. A lot of my favourite zombie yarns have been wrapped up with a completely pessimistic finish, perhaps inevitably. In this case, making all of the cops corrupt in the first place adds even more salt.

I don’t know if there’s really an Assault on Precinct 13 inspiration at work here, but I think I could smell one. Perhaps Nid de Guêpes, Florent Emilio Siri’s awesome gallic spin on that same cooped-up-cops subgenre. It’s tricky to tell if the film is going to run for any time before the zombies appear or if they’re gonna burst in near the beginning, but it could be fun to have the turning point come at least a little way in. That certainly worked for From Dusk ‘Til Dawn.

Looks groovy. A french horror film, yes, but I'm not sure if it's going to be THE french horror film in the likes of High Tenstion, Inside, Martyrs. But it definitely looks good.
  • The_Kid
Looks really good, But I really hope there is more to the story than that. Also when's the American remake come out?
  • DoctorFuManchu
Pretty cool. Reading the plot it sounded chessy but the trailer looks downright badass.
  • cool!
  • I hope the actual movie's photography and editing aren't as "edgy" as the trailer's. Blood and guts are great, don't ****ing ruin it with such a silly and cliche style.
  • mcgruff
    haha i want to be a co-producer
  • vladimus
Looks like as close as we're gonna get to a Left 4 Dead movie.
  • Wiimo
Same thing I thought of, haha. L4D: The Movie.
  • Zach
Literally, the first thing I thought as well. Works for me. "Grabbin' pills".
  • Shu
    What about Left 4 Head???
  • NZA36
american movie makers should strike while the L4D iron is hot and make an official movie.
  • This movie looks pretty rad. And it's in French?! Sweeeeet
  • tyler
    this looks like shit
  • one of the worst trailers i've seen in a long time. it did nothing to show itself apart from most any zombie movie and instead showed zombies or people screaming in a sea of quick cuts.
  • Calidude
Neon, it's a teaser. Not a trailer. That's standard zombie teasing.
  • It's a shit teaser then. I don't care if it's what you consider standard zombie teasers, cause I've seen better.
  • TheMarquis
My standard zombie teasing usually consists of "nahnah nahnah nah nah I'm still a living creature! I can use language! I can still eat pizza! And you cant!"---- and then I throw a raspberry in for good measure. Usually riles them up plenty.

Thank you for making a post about it, Brendon. You should consider reporting more of the incredible foreign cinema out there so as to make sure these great non-Americanized gems like INSIDE, LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, and REC get some much need publicity.

I just watched a French horror film called Martyrs and while the second half kinda looses its way, its still a pretty creepy and gory horror film. I'll be seeing this movie just cause it has zombies but knowing its a French movie is also a plus.
  • looks awesome, I think they give a little Resident Evil shout out around the 00:39 mark. Can't wait!
  • jason B
BIG meh. would bet its a predictable joke.
  • That looks so badass.
  • justrobby
    Zombie movies are great..
  • Chris
This looks like a very bland and generic picture.

I could have cut this trailer from the million other zombie flicks out there --

    Nothing original here. I'll pass.
