farrah

Actress Farrah Fawcett, perhaps best known for her role as Jill Munroe in Charlie’s Angels, died today of cancer at the age of 62. In the 1970s, her role in Charlie’s Angels, combined with her marriage to actor Lee Majors and her appearance in an iconic pin-up poster (which sold 12 million copies), made her a celebrity.

Fawcett went on to appear in films such as The Cannonball Run, The Apostle, and Logan’s Run. She also starred in the TV movies such as The Burning Bed, and more recently, appeared in a documentary about her struggle with cancer, Farrah’s Story. That documentary aired on NBC this past May, and followed Fawcett in her attempts to treat her illness. She is survived by her longtime partner, Ryan O’Neal, and their 24-year old son, Raymond. Feel free to leave remembrances and tributes in the comments below.

Damn you, slashfilm. This post better not be sponsored by the Grim Reaper or I'm never coming to this site again.

This is so sad. RIP. I was hoping she would pull through. Cancer is such a horrible disease.
  • to make a decision, I always write it down in black and white, asking what I call “root questions” of myself along the way. There’s nothing like seeing it on paper to make it clear. With that being said, following are

While the comment was certainly uncalled for, nobody likes a rat.

Dude, this is anonymous and we're on a website for films/pop culture. If I was ratting out someone to 'gain' something for it, then that's a rat.

    Either wise, this is trivial.

  • Another one bites the dust. All these Icons I admire are leaving this earth. Makes 2009 a sad year for me. You can now become a real Angel Mrs. Fawcett. Say Hi to Charlie for me.

Despite the fact that she was getting a little ridiculous in the past few years, she was still an amazing woman and a legendary icon of her time. She will be greatly missed.

I remember being caught up in the whole Angel's fandom when I was a teen and the show was airing. Sure it was fluff but it was fun fluff. She was not smart to leave after one season but she will always be remembered for the show and her posters.
Sad to see her go so early.

Lost my father to pancreatic cancer in 1975. Amazing and DISGUSTING that Flouricil 5FU is STILL the only somewhat effective treatment out there. As much as we may love our country, we must realize that it is powered by GREED. As long as cancer research collection agencies, researchers and research hospitals can make billions from donations, there will never be effective treatments, not to mention a cure. They will smile (not cry) all the way to the banks while both strangers, as well as out loved ones suffer and die from this demonic disease.
