Halloween II Movie Trailer #2

halloween21

Dimension Films has released the second full trailer for Rob Zombie’s Halloween II (no longer H2, thankfully) on the InterWebs and it is…well, I’m not quite sure what it is. Quite a bit of new footage is in this clip, and it’s difficult to tell if it will add up to anything or not. Watch the clip after the jump.

We see quite a few things here. Michael Meyers breaking out of a van. Dr. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell) proclaiming that Mike is D.E.A.D. And a whole lot of messy family insanity, including some guy with a pumpkin on his head. It’s almost like this is Rob Zombie’s version of Destroy All Monsters, with elements of Friday the 13th (Mike’s mommy issues, which we don’t see highlighted here as much as in the previous trailer); Halloween, obviously; The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (that dinner scene with Pumpkinhead…not Stan Winston’s Pumpkinhead, sadly) and a hell of a lot of screaming. Really, if this film doesn’t just boil down to an hour and a half of people screaming I might be able to dig into the sheer insanity of it. I loved The Devil’s Rejects and could barely stand Halloween, and this looks like an even combination of the two, so I’m left not knowing what to expect.

The basic idea for the story here is that there is a psychological connection of sorts between Michael Meyers (Tyler Mane) and his sister Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton). Laurie is realizing that Michael is her brother, and dealing with her own psychological problems. It’s a film that Zombie originally said he didn’t want to make, though he’d also expressed disinterest in doing any direct remakes before making the first Halloween. Evidently he was brought back with a mandate to do whatever he wanted to do, and has said that he felt free of any need to retain elements of John Carpenter’s original feel and style.

  • I'm not too keen on the idea of a psychological 'connection' as a plot-line, nor will I be too happy if the film is populated with many hallucinogenic dream/thought/connection sequences between the two parties, but it doesn't look that bad. There's a couple of quick shots in the trailer which show quite a few of the creepy, surreal elements that will be involved (as Russ mentioned, 'pumpkinhead' among others), and you can guarantee there will be plenty of blood and guts thrown around. I'll probably see 'H2' when it's released, but I don't have very high hopes (maybe that's a good thing...) after I didn't particularly like the first film.

in your heeeead in your heeead ZOMBIE ZOMBIE.....looks ok
  • jonleehk
hahahaha brilliant use of song lyrics
  • So far a better-ish effort by the bits so far. We'll see Mr. Zombie!
  • If this is a 100% Rob Zombie movie, i'll watch it.

    total garbage

First movie sucked. Awful dialogue, terrible actors and it wasn't scary at all. This looks like it'll continue with the shitfest, hurray.

    boooooooooooooooooooring

This film is rated S for Sucks.

I'm actually impressed by this trailer. Looks like this film actually has potential...unlike Zombie's first Halloween film that was to say the least...generic as far as the franchise goes. This one though seems to have a different twist in it.

Kind of sucks that you see what's probably every kill Myers gets in the trailer though. Oh well, guess all movie production companies are that dumb these days!
  • Meli_V
I like it even if does seem to show oh just a tad too much of the movie.
  • Aaron
It looks.....interesting, to say the least. Now, I'm starting to believe that the entire hospital sequence (the addition from the original) may be all in her head. I don't know. I'm finding it hard to rectify the knowledge I have of the original H2, Zombie's first Halloween, and what has already been written about this one, with what I just watched.
  • I didn't buy into his re-envisioning with his first debacle, why is Mr. Zombie under the impression that (what seems like) a mediocre sequel will improve things?
  • D
    He's Rob F'n Zombie?
  • Aladdin Sane
This looks freaking intense. Can't wait!
  • Gordon
Snore! Zombie is good at his 'thing' (Hillbilly exploitation pics) but seemed uncomfortable with the material in Halloween 1, and this looks about as interesting as that stinker.
    Straight to video with you!

Watching Malcolm McDowell is like having sex with Malcolm McDowell.

i just don't respect zombie's storytelling whatsoever. not just these halloween films, but ALL of his films scream 'i have no writing talent'. i hate the way he treats women in his movies, and nearly every plot-point, or bit of dialogue exposes just how weak of a writer/filmmaker he really is.

creepy images, WTF moments and surreal visuals does not a good film make.

there seems a fair share of "this is horrible", "sucks" etc..

personally i think anyone who makes their mind up about a film before they even see it is an idiot

this is geared more towards rob zombie fans

i didnt like house of 1000 corpses but i loved devil's rejects and halloween

i'm also a fan of carpenters halloween, a huge fan actually

and i think if "hardcore fans" should be upset about anything it should be some of those god awful sequels

i'm extremely excited about this and i'm sure a lot of others are too
  • D
We're not making up our minds before we see it. We are saying the movie looks like shit from what footage Mr Zombie has given us.
  • "personally i think anyone who makes their mind up about a film before they even see it is an idiot"

TOTALLY agree, I always laugh when people dismiss a movie based a trailer or poster... it's only funnier when they dismiss a movie before it's even been made
  • Draust
how could you not like House of 1000 Corpses, but like The Devil's Rejects?
They are basically the same movie just shot from a different perspective.
  • I was in the minority with really enjoying the first one. I think the dialogue was horrible, but the movie did do Myers justice, unlike other remakes (TCSM, Friday the 13th).

I'm pretty excited to see what Zombie has in store with this one. This trailer is far better than the first...
  • D
Wow, that looked worse than the last one.

Here's to Zombie remaking some more movies, like Dawn of the Dead, Texas chainsaw 2 (oh yeah he already did that), Nightmare on Elm St. And many more!!
  • mfox
Rob Zombie has nothing to do with those other remakes.

You wanna be mad at Michael Bay.
  • RonDeagle
Did some high school video productions student edit this trailer together? Am I the only one who noticed how choppy and incoherent it was?
  • Abdallah
I liked the first one and this one looks like i'll like it too. Cant wait for it.

Hmm.. .thats one of the worst trailers to come out for the year. And while trailers are not real reflections on the movie most of the time I am worried. The marketing before this was all looking pretty good. I didnt really think too much of the first film as I got a bit bored with the idea and its execution (no pun intended) but this one maybe looks a little more interesting for me with the "surreal" elements. Ill check it out.
  • jonleehk
i think i might have seen the whole movie already after watching the trailer.
  • Robo
I'm a HALLOWEEN junkie, so I know I will watch this. I did not care much for Zombie's first take and this latest trailer doesn't make me very hopeful. What I really wish is that Zombie would let go of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE/Tobe Hooper influence. It's been there in every film he's made and is becoming more problematic than the Hitchcock "influence" in every Brian De Palma flick. At least De Palma made "homage" to more than one film!
  • Flax
He chases her in the hospital. He chases her in the road. He chases her at the police station. He'll chase her to Haddonfield and he'll die, but not really be dead. Same shit, different movie. I love horror. I love Halloween. Zombie had obnoxious CGI effects, 2 different versions of the movie, and a half-remake/half-reamaging/whole crapfest with the first one. It's ruining the damn series.
  • Gajonka
OH GOD, CAN'T BELIVE THIS IS ACTUALY HAPPENING.
    OK, THEY BGOT IT DONE.
THE SCENE WHERE SHE SAYS"IM'M STILL HVAING NIGHTMARES" THEN THE FLASH TO HER " VISUALK NIGHTMARE- OMG, HOW WEAK IS THAT. MY DOG COULD HAVE FILMED A BETTER SEQUENCE.
HEY, ZOMBIE, WHERE'S THE BLOODY THEME SONG?????
WHAT AN IDIOT - YOU NEED THE THEMSE SONG FOR A HALLOWEEN TREAILER!!!

AND THREE, GETTING MY OWN NIGHTMARES AT BEING REMINDED HOWE ANNOYING THAT GIRL' SCREAMS ARE. AND HOW THEY NEVER END.

WELL, IN THE END, I LIKE THAT HE DECIDED GTO KEEP ,THA MASK, I LIKE HIM BEING EIGHT FEET TALL... AND I JUST HOPE I LIKE IT.

GET THAT SOUNDTRACK ... GET IT ON THE FATS TRACK. DONT ME3SS AROUND, THIS IS HALLOWEEN. IT'S GO TIME.

    TRAILER SCORE: 3.94/10

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?
  • This film is rated S for Sucks :)
  • Rob Zombie I think that the Halloween franchise is ruined without Carpenter. It's sucks with the the new laurie and I'm just fed up with this reboot or whatever they want to call it.

It's not scary it looks like the halloween that came out 2 years ago with another title. Don't do projects you don't want to do . Because you tend to destroy them.

I wasn't a fan of his first attempt, and this, as far as I can tell, doesn't really interest me either.

I don't like the super-human, supernatural version of Michael. I preferred it when he was just an escaped mental patient that stalked and killed young women (don't take that the wrong way, I love women, and wish no harm on any of them), with no real supernatural qualities. He was just a psychopathic serial killer. I think that's scarier to be honest. The only thing that may be interpreted as "supernatural" in the first film (1978), is when he "disappears" at the end. But that wasn't necessarily supernatural. It could be interpreted in many ways.

That being said, I will of course give it a watch. Who knows, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised...but I'm doubting it.
