Sherlock Holmes Character Posters

Warner Bros has premiered two character posters for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. The posters feature Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson, and the taglines: “Nothing Escapes Him” and “Crime Will Pay”. Maybe they shoulda said “Not Your Father’s Sherlock Holmes”… oh wait, another film already took that slogan this summer. Check out both posters after the jump.

Really looking forward to this film with antiscipation..
A new VEST fashion could emerge from this. Thank You Guy.

Argh! They are making this movie to 'badass'.
Why couldn't they make a traditional Sherlock Holmes film with this cast, that would be cool.

Nice. I'm not alone in thinking their heads are way WAY too big. Still, will be watching this closely.

Terrible shame to make a Sherlock Holmes movie without Nick Meyers involved somehow.

    Lmao at their get up

Ok, seriously... are the actor's heads really that large in proportion to their bodies? Why in the world would they be photoshopped to look that way?
  • Why does Watson look like the male version of a fetishized stern teacher?
  • He just looks like House. They should have just got Hugh Laurie and been done with it.
  • Airbrushed to shit!

Eh they're meh to me. Downey's head part almost looks pixie-ish like if he was in Peter pan or something.
  • What' s up with Jude's head to body ratio?

my father seems more lonely this summer than usual

Sounds ok but I think I will stick to my good old classic Sherlock Holmes books.
  • These could be better. And as adam said, I'd like to see one of Rachel McAdams. That aside, I'm very excited about this movie. The closest Ritchie has come to letting me down was Revolver, which I liked enough, so I look for this to be a fun and entertaining time.

Downey Jr. almost looks like Bruno.

I have no idea whether or not I'm excited to see this movie. I love the original serials by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I love the original Hound of the Baskervilles movie...not the original original, the one from the 50s. It seems like that's the only story anyone ever makes into a movie though. What are there, 10?, 20? remakes of that one story? And another 50+ movies who just stick the character in their own ridiculous story?

I have complete faith in the talents of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Guy Ritchie scares me a little. Snatch was good, but that was almost 10 years ago. I can't think of anything he's done since then, and I'm actually looking at his IMDB page right now!

If anyone is interested in learning why a 19th century character is still worthy of a big budget movie in the 21st century, you can do so with a free copy of the original serials here: http://manybooks.net/titles/doyleartetext99advsh12.html
  • Cheap grunge effect. Other than that, they look good.

Don't you feel that Robert Downey Jr. had a very lesbian haircut for this movie?
  • ...
Their faces are a little over-photoshopped,
but I really do like the overall look and feel of them...
    Gritty. Dirty. Classy.
I'm still very interested in this movie...
I don't know if the posters helped much with that,
    but they definitley didn't hurt.

Photoshop to some extent has really made some artists lasy. These look so generic with their overly-used "photoshop effects" on them.
  • Dude
Agreed. And what the hell is going on with those tag lines? A five-year-old can write better phrases.
  • apw
The superhot Rachel McAdams doesn't get one?!?

I'd rather look at her than Jude Law.
  • jules
I wish it didn't say Holmes. He's not a gangster, it should say sherlock
  • brandie
even if it just said sherlock it would be stupid... just put something else....
  • He was a boxer and a drug addicted, how much more gangster can you get?
  • Wat, Son!
