First Look: Kevin Smith’s A Couple of Dicks

Kevin Smith’s R-Rated buddy cop comedy A Couple of Dicks began filming in New York this week, and a few photos from the set have begun showing up online. The first photo, above, comes from accidentalsexiness, and features Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis in a car. After the first day of shooting, Smith tweeted “Bruce & Tracy are so good together, you’d think this was the sequel.” More photos after the jump, including a look at Morgan dressed in a giant cell phone costume and the film’s production logo.

ComingSoon has a photo of Tracey Morgan, dressed as a cellphone, riding a three wheel bicycle while being chased by a pit bull. The shot was taken in Queens, New York. I don’t recall reading this in the earlier draft of the screenplay, so it’s very possible it was added later.

A Couple of Dicks Set Photo
Signs posted in Brooklyn are using the title “A Couple of Cops”. I’ve been told that the film is still titled A Couple of Dicks, and that the Cops title was only around for a short period of time when they were considering a PG-13 rating. Crew members on set were wearing t-shirts that reads Couple of Dicks (photo thanks to bluffcity). So I’m guessing that the signs are using the PG-13 title to appear less racy. I do wonder if they are dropping the “A” from the title.

Written by Robb and Marc Cullen, and featured on the 2008 Black List (a Hollywood insider list of the best unproduced screenplays of the year), The film stars Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis as two veteran LAPD detectives who attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card, get tangled with a sports memorabilia-obsessed gangster, and rescure a Mexican beauty named Gabriela (Ana de la Reguera), who might hold the key to millions in laundered drug money. Adam Bordy, Sean William Scott and Kevin Pollak also have roles in the film. A Couple of Dicks is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters on February 26th 2010.

  • Looks like Mogan is taking a huge dump in that car.

Tracy Morgan in a cell phone costume riding a weird tourist bike running from a pit bull.

    Where can I buy tickets?

Wow, if I didn't know any better that picture of Tracy Morgan dressed up as a cell phone could've been easily mistaken as a scene from 30 Rock.
  • Now I want to see the movie just to see how they're going to make NY look like LA...
  • Yeah because this is the first chance we'll finally get to see New York on the big screen.

Oh, wait, wait... no it isn't.
  • I'm so happy that Morgan has got his chance at the big time. He is so funny in 30 rock. I love that dude.
  • I have a strong feeling that in this movie, SOMEBODY'S GONNA GET PREGNANT!

A 2nd pic sold the movie for me.
  • Yeah, that's about what I imagined that scene would look like...

I sincerely dislike Kevin Smith movies, but I think Bruce is one of the coolest people alive....so I will, guardedly, give this a chance.
  • If you dislike Kevin Smith movies, I doubt it's for the directing. You probably don't like his writing, so this movie should be in the clear for you, as he didn't write it.
  • this is gonna be funny
  • Dylan
They've been telling people around Brooklyn that it's a "Couple of Cops" -- but I think they're just doing that to keep it from making any sort of stink.
  • Not Tryna Hate...
    Hot Fuzz anybody?

    Lame sauce.
  • David
Hot Fuzz was a spoof of these ridiculous action movies...and...it was hysterical!!! This looks like low grade material at best. It looks so painful. I simply cannot believe this was green lighted.
  • Bruce should play more roles like this. He was pretty funny in What Just Happened? with DeNiro.
  • Lee
    Bruce Willis is a badass!
  • Really looking forward to this. They had me at Kevin Smith + Tracey Morgan.
  • Riding a "three-wheeled bicycle?"

I believe they have a word for that...
  • can i buy tickets now or what?
  • hard target- awesome
Bruce Willis once again proving why he is the coolest actor still around, there will never be another person alive who even comes close to Willis!
  • Smith finally working with Willis in a badass buddy cop comedy. I'm looking forward to see how well Smith's 'style(?) and his brand of dialogue/comedy works in this situation. Has the potential to be absolute GOLD.

anyone know where they are filming? as in street address? i want to go try and find it tomorrow!
  • That_Guy
Wow. I bet you'd like to stand exactly where Heath did in Chicago for Dark Knight . . . all alone at 2:30 in the morning . . . taking a good look around wondering how the world looked through his eyes . . . then you stop, take a brief sigh and say aloud "This is what life is all about" . . . then skip all the way home with a smile ear to ear.

Just saw the movie. First screening. They swore everybody to secrecy with the threat of legal sanction of course... The juxtaposition of elements in this film make it like none other in this genre. A unique approach as far as I know. I'll stop there; I don't want to hurt Smith's labor in any way; but this is a must-see.
  • Someone
They filmed this movie right in front of my house!
