a couple of dicks seann william scott adam brody

Adam Brody and Seann William Scott have joined the cast of Kevin Smith’s A Couple of Dicks. The R-Rated buddy cop comedy stars Tracy Mogan and Bruce Willis as two veteran LAPD detectives who attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card, get tangled with a sports memorabilia-obsessed gangster and rescue a Mexican beauty who might hold the key to millions in laundered drug money. I’ve read an earlier draft of the script, and it’s funny in a very different way than any of Smith’s previous films.

Scott plays a thief known as “the Shit Bandit,” as he is notorious for leaving a surprise trademark behind in the bathroom after robbing a house. Brody plays an “abrasive detective” who is not happy to be working with Willis and Morgan. Scott appeared briefly in Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Written by Robb and Marc Cullen, and featured on the 2008 Black List (a Hollywood insider list of the best unproduced screenplays of the year), A Couple of Dicks is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters on February 26th 2010.

Not the biggest fan of Scott, but I love Adam Brody and Kevin Smith. I never would have thought they'd make a movie together... dream come true...? Mayhaps.

What a cast!Willis, morgan, brody, and scott!Kevin Smith directing, this has the makings of a classic movie!

If Smith can get a couple of porn actresses to act decent in Zach and Miri than i'm sure he can do wonders for Brody and William Scott. This should be classic stuff from Kevin Smith.

@schizopolis: no improvement since Clerks? if you don't think that Chasing Amy is better than Clerks, you might just be downright retarded.
  • After Zack & Miri, Kevin Smith has no more slack left. As a filmmaker, he has shown no improvement since clerks. He should have stuck to writing scripts then let other people direct them....NOT the opposite!
  • Just for "their, they're and there". There's a big difference between all of those words.
  • I fail to see why Kevin Smith is doing this besides getting a pay check. The script has mediocrity written all over it. The opening scene has Tracy Jordan chasing a Mexican criminal while wearing a foam cell phone costume, stealing a cholos pimped out bicycle and riding it, in foam costume, down the street chasing the criminal, all the while Bruce Willis is following them in a van. Tell me that doesn't sound like the opening to a television show or a really mediocre, forgotten the moment you leave the theater, cop buddy comedy.
  • I think that sounds hilarious. But I guess neither of us will be able to tell until it's shot, eh?
  • Yeah, it all depends how they choose to shoot it. I do think that Bruce and Tracy Morgan are great pics for the roles, very type-cast, but nonetheless good picks. I guess it just didn't read as funny in the script as it might be when it plays out on screen. But still, there weren't any very good jokes in the scene, it was more just a "Look! It's Tracy Morgan chasing a mexican while riding a pimped out bicycle and wearing a foam cell phone costume! Isn't that humorous?" type deal. The critics are going to tear this one apart. Mark my words...

It's my opinion that there are better scripts out there that Smith could have chosen to work on. That's all. I'm sure the movie will still be funny, and I will still go see it, but I just found the script to be way too safe to really feel like this is going to be the best use of the directors time. I mean, a director can only make so many movies in his/her life, they should make the most of every single one IMO.
  • Why is the fact that it sounds like a television show a bad thing? Televeision show rocks.
  • Because television and movies are two entirely separate entities. I'm not saying that television is bad, I love television, but I wouldn't pay 12.50 to see a movie that feels like an episode of Chuck. I mean, I will see this movie, but the script is still incredibly generic, a very safe movie. It will be something that will pass the time, but it won't be very memorable. I just think that Kevin Smith is better than that, that's all.
  • Looking forward to this more and more. Its gonna be interesting to see what Kevin Smith will be like directing a script he diddnt write.
I hope he wont continute to do that tough. I love his writing.

This is good news. Brody and Scott will provide great support to a movie that I think is shaping up to be a great comedy and a fantastic career choice for Smith. I am particularly pleased to see Brody getting more work. While the OC got stanky after a season or two, Brody's style was instantly hilarious and set the stage for Zachary Levi audience appeal in Chuck.
  • Tracy Jordan is funny. errr i mean Tracy Morgan ;)

but really, this looks awesome. cant wait.

Never been a huge fan of Scott (although I did enjoy Role Models), but I do love me some Smith & Willis action.

It sounds like its going to be a highly anticipated movie of 2010. It's like eight months away.
  • Adam Brody and Sean William Scott?!?! Uhhh, I'm not a fan of either actor.
  • Fortunately there not the leads.
  • they're.
  • Thanks grammar police :P

Here's hoping this movie has no 1)boring love story that is being set up from minute one, 2)contrived arguement between the buddies that lead to a resolution in the last 1/4 of the film and most importantly 3) NO AWKWARD DANCE MONTAGE

    Just tell me...

    JIMMY
Tell you what? That I love you? Go fuck yourself.

    PAUL
Then tell me what you think about Debbie.

    JIMMY
No. I'm not getting into this again...

    PAUL
C'mon... Do you think my wife is cheating on me?

This is from page 2 of the script. This is the conversation that opens the movie. Not exactly a "love story", but very, very close. A slight offshoot.
  • I've got to say I would pay double if he puts in an awkward dance montage between Morgan and Willis.
  • ...
    Go Mr.Smith Go...
The good news for this movie keeps on rolling in...
Brody was funny in Mr. & Mrs. Smith,
and almost always find Scott hilarious (Role Models, anyone?)
This is turning into a must-see movie for me...

  • Goddamn I can't stand Seann William Scott. I wonder if he'll play an arrogant prankster-type?
  • Wasabi Steak
No slight at Brody and Scott, Im just saying judging from the plot in this article I dont see how its any better than your average wacky buddy cop movie.
  • Wasabi Steak
Im really having a hard time seeing how this could be good...
  • How about Bruce Freakin Willis and Tracey Freakin Morgan!
  • bobdisgea
