Rumor: Wentworth Miller in Bioshock Movie?

wentworth bioshock

Could Prison Break star Wentworth Miller be cast in the big screen adaptation of Bioshock? Last we heard, the Universal decided to put the Gore Verbinski-directed video game movie on hold as they explored options to cut down the film’s ballooning budget.

Miller commented on his twitter account that “Prison Break may be ending, but I’ve got things in the works. Hint…one word: Bioshock.” Miller could have meant that he’ll now have time to play Bioshock, but I somehow doubt that was what he meant. Maybe its more wishful thinking — that he would love to be in a Bioshock movie. Or maybe Miller has a voice part in the upcoming Bioshock sequel?  I’m not even sure this is the real Wentworth Miller’s Twitter account, but the guys at Bloody Disgusting seem to think so. Basically what I’m saying is, this is all highly speculative.

Since it’s release in August, Hollywood has eyeing a big screen adaptation of this popular first-person shooter. Praised for its morality-based storyline, immersive environment and Ayn Rand-inspired dystopian setting, the game has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, and ranks as the thirteenth best video game on Game Rankings.

Set in an alternative history 1960, BioShock follows the story of a plane crash survivor named Jack, who must explore the underwater Objectivist-dystopian city of Rapture, and survive attacks by the mutated beings and mechanical drones that populate it. Jack is drawn into a power struggle during which he discovers that his will is not as free as he’d thought. Aviator screenwriter John Logan penned the script.

I don't know Prison Break enough to judge Miller's acting abilities. He certainly LOOKS the part, but then again, the physical appearance of Jack's character is a criteria that many 20-somethings fit.

I was actually imagining Sam Worthington in the role. Although I thought Terminator Salvation was absolute crap, I did think that Worthington's acting was a big highlight of that otherwise awful movie. Worthington's character in TS was that of a man with a mysterious and shrouded past. And he himself also has no recollection of his own past...

...Just like the character of Jack in Bioshock.

And besides; Sam Worthington LOOKS the role too :D
  • I actually thought that Sam Worthington and Wentworth Miller DO look similar... along with Channing Tatum. Not that I'm complaining-- they are all FIIINE.
  • Worthington seems to be the go to guy for action blockbusters...with Avatar and Clash of The Titans on the horizon.... he seems to be a workaholic I wouldn't doubt him signing up for more big summer movies

What exactly does Jack look like? If I remember the game right, all you see of Jack are his lower arms and hands.

Why peter it almost sounds as if you like bioshock? but im going with the second game.

this information is absolutely false from beginning to end. Rumors of the involvement of Wentworth Miller in BioShock is a april fool . And Wentworth Miller doesn't have an account on Twitter!
    Very very ridiculous
  • source?
  • Wait... this movie is still going forth?
  • the story as well as the world of bioshock are both great.. it's one videogame / blockbuster film i could get excited about seeing. although we all know they will ruin it somehow. i didnt mind wentworth on prision break, but i think casting that dude would be a bad choice. get someone older and take a bigger film seriously for once. jesus christ. at least its not shia labloof i guess.
  • I watched the first season of PB and Miller was great in the role. If he's cast as anyone I'm sure he'll be good, main character or not.

the source is in the dark horizons site date 1er April
  • I'm actually interested in this. I haven't played the game, but I've heard good things. However, video game to movie adaptations usually suck so we'll have to wait and see. I doubt this movie will even get made in the near future
  • Everyone seems to think a Bioshock movie is a wonderful idea but has there ever been a successful steampunk movie?
  • Fred
Has there ever been a steampunk movie?

Except for that Will Smith western one, I guess..
  • Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Van Helsing had steampunk elements in them.
  • Very cool choice. Let's hope they get the Big Daddy up and running soon!!
  • LOL< well he better set his sights high, after the lackluster 4th season of Prison Break.
  • think i heard it was a rumor but not true???
  • I hope it's not true Prison Break was a horrible show...you'd think Gore would hire someone with a bit more talent...

it's an old rumor started by people on the IMDB boards...I remember hearing about this rumor around March...
  • Will Michael Scofield...after breaking out of prison and uncovering a massive government conspiracy...be able to face his greatest challenge yet...escaping from Rapture? THIS FALL ON FOX, it appears Scofield can't catch a break! Bioshock, airing Fridays at 9, after an all new 'Til Death (yes it's still on)!

The darkhorizon's article says he is in bioshock with Al Pacino. Maybe he is joining the cast of the new Pacino Kervorkian biopic.
  • As great as Pacino has been in some of his past films, please no. I actually don't mind this choice, it's better than a Dwayne Johnson or someone along those lines. I hope this flick gets shot soon i'm anxious.
  • Nothing against Scofield but cant really say I'm crazy about him either.
  • Scofield? =)
  • If i remember correctly that rumour is as old as the first news to the movie.

Wentworth is NOT on twitter, or facebook, or myspace. During his recent trip to China he spoke about the fact that he is possibly doing an action/horror movie, but he did not state the movie is Bioshock.

I'd MUCH rather have Bioshock as a film explore Rapture's downfall, rather than Jack's tribulation in the submerged city.

In any case, I can see Miller as Fontaine.
  • he is a one note actor, so the movie would probably be horrible. I was a fan of prison break but it definitely was not because of his acting abilities.
  • Wentworth is a talented & great actor .I've seen him in different roles besides PB.__ Like THE HUMAN STAIN,GHOST WHISPERER....etc honestly he was more than great in all of them.I really wish 4 him the best & if this role is good,I wish I see him in that movie& get all the success as PB,which btw is an awesome ,amazing ,lovely & very very successful show__I adore him, believe in him &I'll support him in any role.__

Jesus Christ, no! Miller is just a piece of talking wood. He's terrible actor, always whispering, and always with the same face.
