Awesome Green Lantern Fan Made Trailer

Green Lantern
Jaron Pitts has created a trailer for a Green Lantern movie starring Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordon. Pitts combined superimposed computer effects with clips from Firefly, JLU, Star Trek and many other movies and television shows (full list after the jump). It’s too bad that we’re going to have to wait another 2 years for a real Green Lantern film. But for now we have this trailer. Watch it after the jump.

Clips were apparently combined from the following film and television sources:

Planet of the Apes
Serenity Trailer
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Stardust Trailer
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring
Firefly
Dragonball Evolution Trailer
Galaxy Quest
The Fountain Trailer
Superman Returns Trailer
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Smallville
Justice League TAS
GI Joe Trailer
Contact
Star Trek Enterprise
Star Wars Episode III
The Mutant Chronicles Trailer

The Chronicles of Riddick
Kamen Rider
Bedtime Stories
Escape from Witch Mountain Trailer

  • With a lot of luck and a hell of a push from us on the Interwbs... WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN! If only that were true...
  • Apollo
    ok,,,that was cool!
  • AWESOME! I just have a few complaints against the CGI creatures...but otherwise, very well done. It was fun to guess which movie he was using at a certain time.
  • tigersuit
Nathan Fillion should play green lantern, that would be so awesome!
  • jason B
    jesus christ that was amazing!
  • starscream9289
That was the best fan made trailer I have ever seen!
  • Palmer
    I'd watch it.
  • What's sad is that Nathan Fillion would make an incredible Green Lantern, but alas that will never happen.
  • I'm usually veeeery sceptical of fan made trailers but man alive I'd watch that.
  • Jack
That trailer made no sense. The editing was good, yes, but it made no sense whatsoever.
  • Dan
What part of the trailer made no sense? I showed it to my friend who has never heard of Green Lantern and she understood the trailer. Develop character, action sequence, then the end. Sounds just like how a movie is made.
  • Amita
umm..i'm gna have to agree with jack on this one..it really made no sense...just a mash up of clips...cool clips...but meaningless...
  • Brad
I am with you Amita and Jack.
  • StarFox
    Agree. Complete nonsense.
  • How is it complete nonsense and how do you not get it? honestly if you can't grasp the concept of this trailer and what is going on you should never watch a movie because you obvious lack intelligence, my 13 year old niece understood the trailer fine.
  • best fan made trailer I have ever seen. I would watch it.
  • where's the music from in the trailer?
  • filmkid
the music is from Star Trek its from "Two Steps From Hell - Freedom Fighters"
  • LuMendz
Cool! You posted it! I was the one who tweeted it to you :)
  • Marko
Well done, but I am getting a bit tired of people picking Nathon Fillion for every comic book superhero that gets announced.
  • Jim R.
    Yeah, especially Wonder Woman.
  • Good try
That was lame.... Simply because the Star Trek music totally ruins its and makes it lame. So I guess it's now cool to use star trek music in fanmade trailers now??? Just as it was to use The Dark Knight music when that was new last summer.
  • Dan
If it is lame because music was reused from another movie then there are ALOT of movie trailers and/or movies that are lame. Sound good to you?
  • Stan
yeah i think that's the point he is making... Especially for fan made trailers which nearly all of them use a very recognizable and popular piece of music, so it becomes distracting to the point where the viewer is reminded of the music, rather than the trailer they are watching.

Another words, the music distracts from what the trailer is about... and thus makes it a poor trailer and also because of the music because its used repeatedly, becomes cliche.
  • The point he's making, which you are clarifying, is that using music existing music in a fan-made trailer for a non-existent movie is distracting enough that someone might forget what the fake movie was supposed to be about?

    Mind boggling.
  • Xavier
    where is your effort?

money where your mouth is buddy.....
  • That song isn't "Star Trek music". It wasn't made for the movie. It was a song by the group "Two Steps From Hell" that was out before the trailer was even made. The group specializes in movie trailer themes. So no, this is not Star Trek music.
  • This came from SuperHeroHype, I saw this when it was first made. I love it.
  • eduke
is a really well done fan trailer.
  • fex
For my money, Bruce Campbell is the one who Hal Jordan.
  • The
Nah man... the internetz have already decided Bruce is going to be Mysterio. Besides, Hal Jordan isn't a funny guy.
  • Merciful_budah
Yeah. Bruce would be a much more well suited to playing Guy Gardner. They could retcon him as being an older Green Lantern and the only former one of Planet Earth (i.e. Abin Sur's predecessor) . Then just let Bruce needle away at Nathan Fillion and we've got one hell of a superhero flick
  • fex
I was just saying if they decided to do a Kyle Gardner flick I'd love to see Bruce as Hal.
  • Gudlyf
Not to shit on Bruce, but have you seen him lately? Go watch Burn Notice. He's fat and old. He's not the skinny dude from Evil Dead anymore.
  • Dan W
It was well made. But for those saying they would watch this movie: It obviously could never be an actual movie, not the fact that it was made by a fan, but the fact that it was pulled together from other movies.

Im not familiar with the green lantern story at all. But can he really stretch his arm like that?
  • It wasn't his arm, it was a construct from the ring.
  • Dan
I think the point people are saying is that they would like to see the Green Lantern movie made similar to this fanmade trailer. Did you forget that Peter posted the titles of the movies and TV shows that had clips taken from?
  • Awesome job, Fillion would be great as Hal Jordan
  • This officially raises the bar on all fan made trailers to come. Well done!
  • Him or that guy that played angel and is on Bones. He did the voice for him in JL: New Frontier.
  • amazing trailer, if this can happen than the bar for fanmade trailers is now higher than ever. I'd love to see fans make trailers for upcoming movies like iron man 2, thor, justice league, and all other movies. great job, keep going. whoever did this could be or is professional.
  • Not bad
  • Wow. That looks really really amazing. Some of the scenes took me out of the moment, most notably the Fantastic Four Scenes and a few Star Trek ones, but overall, looks amazing.

Also, this just shows you how amazing trailers can be, even if a story is not developed. Trailers are such a huge cock tease, and sometimes a let down after watching the film. Quantum of Solace anyone?
  • Merciful_budah
This was a badass fan trailer that certainly sets the bar. This movie is still in preproduction, so who's to say if that positive fan reaction from this video wouldn't lead to Warner Bros casting Mr. Fillion? And if that happens then perhaps fan trailers will become a new way for Studio's to guage how they ought to construct their movies. Then the viewer becomes a part of the creative process of film-making.

Not sure yet if that would be a good or a bad thing...
  • Fans are having problems with the cast of The Last Airbender.
    Racebending.com anyone??

I can see how this would be good boost for the film.

I liked how they included Tomar Re and Killowog as the non-human Green Lanterns.
  • hawk
completely amazing. that's the way to do a fan-made trailer
  • josh p
how is bullshit appropriate for a greenband trailer hahaa
  • Whoever made this should be involved with the actual Green Lantern movie. Possibly the best fan made trailer I've ever seen, aside from Pulp Muppets.
  • That was very well done, and got me wanting to see a Green Lantern movie based off that trailer. The real movie will hopefully be as good but I kinda doubt it.
  • heck yeah.. i would camp out to see that movie
