goobywtfhunter1

What kind of slimy creature passed for human long enough to make this film? I would not be surprised if the director died recently of perversion withdraw. People keep emailing me this trailer because they think it is funny. No. It’s disturbing. It’s sick. What is Gooby? Gooby is the fucking thing you see above, a furry figment in the “very active” imagination of a young boy named Willy.

As seen here, Gooby is constantly blowing the mind of Eugene Levy, so much so that his hair stands up like Wolverine’s. Gooby is voiced by the guy who plays Hagrid in the Harry Potter franchise. But who really plays Gooby? Who is the Prowse to the Earl Jones? A sick man, and a furry enthusiast no doubt. In fact, every time I view the trailer in horror, I’m more convinced that Gooby is actually the bear-man from The Shining. Comparison photo—as seen daily in the sick halls of Tumblr, obvi—after the jump. And the trailer for Gooby, of course, which should given to the FBI.

    is that a joke??????????????????????????????????????????????
  • Saw this trailer a couple days back. This honestly seems more like a horror movie in disguise as a jolly kids film.

Hopefully I'm not the only one that found the trailer completely creepy. I wouldn't want that thing chasing me around.
  • Matt
Just a heads up, I think you missed the words 'Funny Or Die' from the title. Right? Right? Oh...
  • omg i feel sick

  • sanyo
    Much better.
  • Wow that worked perfectly.
  • CyT
    That was brilliant!

    Where's the MacGuyver version?!?! :)
  • freemachine
This version made me feel like I can fall asleep tonight and everything will be ok. The original, on the other hand....
  • LOL nice job
i cant tell whats scarier this or the original trailer
  • hahaha... WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS??? Are you sure this isn't a viral video or something? Gooby looks scary as hell. and I keep thinking that Gooby is REALLY a creepy, sick older man (a paedophile, of course) dressed up as a 80s-style teddy bear mascot.
  • Infrafan
    . . .w. . .t. . .f. . .

Wait. You have a character who's name is slang for penis, bonding with a boy, and all these organizations, probably Christian based, are hailing this thing as a great family movie? And the director's name is Coneybeare?

The end of days is near.
  • laff_fact or E
I'm thinking this is some studio's answer to where the wild Things Are
  • adam
    i think its a wookie
  • Worse than I was expecting. I mean come on, looks like it was made in the early 80's/
  • I don't know why this trailer reminded me to the "Simple Jack" trailer featured in Tropic Thunder...creepy.
  • Bob
WIth the removal of a few lame shots and the addition of some eerie music, this could easily be the trailer for a horror movie.
  • There is no way that can be real! I can't imagine such a terrible thing being produced. The Voiceover sounds like some guy they picked up off the street with a "deep enough" voice. Most of the "action" takes place in a single location (grocery store). Even the text used for the credits looks like the standard text that comes with Windows Movie Editor. Has anyone checked those "critics" to see if they are real?

This feels like a put-on. Like one of those fake trailers that are becoming more common before movies (see Grindhouse, Tropic Thunder, and (potentially) Funny People)
  • razor
wel i can straight to dvd is the worst thing that the industry could have invented and this is an example of why even if its not real most productions that do go this route suck ass terminators anyone??? oh and i'm about to take a chance and watch the grudge 3 lol
  • Paul Walter Hauser
I officially hate Eugene Levy for selling out AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN!

He's officially in the Fred Willard category.

Gooby looks so scary, I want to kill myself. That looked like something FunnyorDie woulda made. I wish they had.

They scene where Gooby throws the kid and himself into the pile of leaves looks like a horror film, like he's murdering the kid, violently throwing him into the leaf pile.
  • Chad
    *shudder* Wow, that is creepy.
  • I THINK IT LOOKS LIKE TEDDY FROM "AI" - OR FONZY THE BEAR.
  • Brad
Fonzy The Bear? Did Fonzie and Fozzy Bear have a love child?
  • josephmcklay
I'm pretty sure the guy in the Shining is supposed to be in a dog costume. To be fair, I've also heard people call him the "squirrel man." It's an ambiguous costume. But man, that bear is in the same vein of creepiness.
  • i think its funny lol
  • josephmcklay
Another note: Love the comic sans in the trailer.
  • why does Gooby remind me so much of John Candy in Spaceballs?

    http://images.starpulse.com/Photos/Previews/Space...
  • Smumdax
LOL!!! Man I was thinking the exact same thing all along the trailer... Like I couldn't take John Candy off my mind... lol
  • AND EUGEN LEVY RULES, NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES... I STILL DON'T SEE ANY UNDERTONES, EROTIC, ETC... PLEASE ADD MORE COLOR, OR SPELL IT OUT FOR ME. THX.
  • it looks like a mad tv parody
  • That bear scares me shitless.
  • Oh em gee.

I'm 24 and had to call my Mom just to insure that everything would be OK.

And if this movie ends up grossing more than 100,000, I don't think it's going to be OK after all.
  • Re: Bear suit

See the FAQ for The Shining at IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081505/faq#.2.1.2 for clarification about the costume.
  • ----
Its a dog suit, not a bear suit. In the book there is a man who acts as a sexual servant to one of the hotel guests and wears a dog suit, which is what that scene in the movie is in reference too.
  • ----
It is indeed a dog costume, not a bear in "The Shining".
  • Re: Bear Suit Part 2

We just posted a link in the comments to the IMDB FAQ, where the BJ costume in the scene in question is elaborated on. The costume is said to be that of a bear.

For whatever reason the comment was snagged by our own censors. But I think we all know that it wasn't a bear or a dog in The Shining: it was Gooby the entire time. And he's after your children.
  • josephmcklay
You know, my memory of this scene probably merged with my memory of the book, where they talk about the dog costume. I wouldn't doubt that they probably just went with whatever costume idea looked creepiest. I honestly don't think it looks like a bear OR a dog, but some kinda hybrid.

    ...or Gooby.
  • McGoohan
It's a dog in the book. There's a whole backstory and everything!
  • I would rather had calvin and hobbes.
  • When they're sliding down that hill through the trees, all I could think was "I'd rather watch a Calvin and Hobbes movie."
  • WTF??Please tell me this is a joke?? If i put this on for my 4 year old nephew he would probably kick me in the face!!
  • Kevin
What the f&@k did I just watch!?!?!?!
  • bb6640
Anyone else think of the 1980's masterpiece Mac and Me while watching this trailer? Yes folk, I think we got ourselves a new Great Bad Movie.
  • haha omg i totally forgot all about that movie!
  • dagreenman18
I don't know whether to laugh or shit myself in tears.
  • Dooby
I saw it (sadly). It is indeed as bad as it looks. They tried...
  • They definitely bumped uglies. Unwillingly, I might add.
  • Is this The Asylum's version of Where the Wile Things Are?
  • That is a monstrously creepy and awful trailer.
  • was that trailer just a compilation of people falling?]

    this shit is creeps.
