VOTD: Chris Milk’s Last Day Dream

zz70930418

Chris Milk’s short film Last Day Dream tells the story of a man who watches his life pass before him. It was produced for the 2009 42 second dream film festival in Beijing China (42 directors, 42 seconds, 42 dreams). And yes, Pauly Shore makes a brief appearance.

Milk won the Music Video Production Association Award for 2008 “Music Video Director of the Year”. He has worked on videos for The Chemical Brothers, Gnarls Barkley, Kanye West, Modest Mouse, Courtney Love, U2, Green Day, and Audioslave. He is also a working commercial director, who has done spots for Nike, LL Bean, and Nintendo. I expect that he will make his feature film debut in the next couple years.

  • Wow, what a grim and terrifying video.

Thanks for being a downer, Peter. I'm gonna go curl up into a ball and cry myself to sleep.

  • Pauly Shore needs to get off his ass and do a sequel to Bio Dome.

    Pretty underwhelming. Pedestrian, even.
  • Where?
  • mookie
Agreed. And what curtain said below about it being shorter than the credits.
  • haha
The FUCK YOU guy was brilliant because I'm able to recall an instance involving a jackass in my life strictly because I wished it happened differently.

  • votd??? what happened to big directors, small films?

awesome though i saw this on kanye's blog
  • Life is short. Life is a dream.
  • That guys life wasn't so bad, had both parents, looks like he went to college, met a girl and married her, had kids, and he even got to fight Pauly Shore...
  • Small things I loved: missing the catch, the full cycle of generations, and the simple (albeit a little cliched) piano melody.

    Chris Milk is good stuff.
  • I saw that. Pauly Shore tripped me out
  • that was great but that 1 second of pauly shore bugged the hell outta me lol
  • ben
Chris' work is great! Nice guy to boot.
  • Brad
Wow, how many slashfilm readers know or have worked with Chris? So far I count three including myself.
  • Beautiful. It captured many of those quick memories that we remember later on. It may not relate to everyone because they (including me) may not relate to ALL of the shorts. I loved it.

Don't be a jealous hater of talented people who make good art. Sorry this isn't a multi million dollar vfx explosive film. I think that 49 seconds of misc excerpts from a mans life that can convey emotion as readily as this has it great. I could only aspire to be so vocal with moving images.

  • Quicktime link on his actual site, woohoo: http://www.chrismilk.com/42/

And I'll agree with Ben, Chris Milk's one of the friendliest directors out there
  • Mirror??? Please?
  • This is on YouTube - pretty cool video... the list of other directors is pretty cool, too...

saw Mike Figgis, David Lynch, Larry Clark...
  • jojomcgraw
