lost

For years now, there have been rumors and speculation about a possible LOST movie which would cap the end of the series. Series co-creator Damon Lindelof assures fans that while a Lost movie is possible, the sixth season finale will ultimately end the story of the group of characters we have been following. Watch the full interview after the jump.

Also, yesterday we teased and speculated about what might happen in the fifth season finale of the series. After the jump we have four sneak peeks at the last remaining episode of the season.

“Twenty years from now they could reboot it. Three years from now they could carry on the franchise, but for us, the show has always been about this group of characters.” … “Their story, ALL the character resolutions will happen” says Lindelof. “The characters that we love and cared about, and invested in, their story is, for all intents and purposes, over.”

Linelof promises that the audiences will get a real sense of conclusion with the series and that they have no plans to leave some of “the mysteries of the island or dangling story threads” open for a future series or big screen movie. He says “All we’ve ever talked about are the six years of the show. It’s never been, ‘Oh let’s leave that for a potential movie.’”

LOST is right up there with 21 Jump Street as the best TV show ever.

Well considering all the rumors about Kate, I won't be surprised if she doesn't even survive the TV show. As for jack... it seems like he's the only character that would be totally safe... and then your remember it's Lost.

GAAH I can't wait. I love this show.
  • I don't know about a Lost movie. How would that even work, especially if the characters storylines will be completed in the show?
  • Lost is one of the greatest achievments in TV history. Considering they have already been back home Its hard to imagine how the very final episode will play out. Im still confident it will be mindblowing. I still can't believe the show has lost 50% of its viewers since season one. TV doesn't get any better. Also no show is scored better!

  • And that number is still slowly rising. I'm going to be honest. I watched season 1 and half of 2. Then they decided to take a month or 2 to get back on track. I watch the new episode and then its a rerun the next few weeks. You can't hold an audience like that. I catch up to season 4, half way through, it happens again. I move on to better things then i'm lost on Lost and I don't feel like catching up again. I know Lost has it's fan base, i'm not bashing the show at all , I enjoy it. It's just the way they go about the episodes/seasons, they drag on and take 5-7 commercial breaks per episode that last 20 minutes out of the hour. I counted 8 one time, it's ridiculous. Fringe has limited commercial breaks, which is amazing. J.J seems to be going about the episodes much differently than Lost, which I like. BSG did it right, a new episode every week, 18 weeks, then take a fraking year off, which was torture, but it kept you hooked. It lasted 4 seasons, they didnt drag it on. It climaxed and ending strong.

It's the difference between local and cable programming. You also have to take in account Sweeps.
  • I hate to break it to you, but a large majority of "hour-long" television shows are only 40 minutes long due to 20 minute commercial breaks. Oh and I take it that since you stopped watching in the middle of season 2, you don't know that Lost has been doing BSG's "18-weeks of new episodes" season since the 7th episode of Season 3.

But hey, it's not like you should do any research before posting things you don't know about...
  • just for the sake of proving your argument, i believe the only show on network tv that is longer than 40-42 minutes is "Fringe", which has breaks that are so short, they have to tell you that they'll be back in 60 seconds.
  • grabbie
Actually, Dollhouse is longer than most TV shows. It averages about 6 minutes (48-49 minute range) because of less commercials aired.
  • Grabbie is 100 percent correct-a-mundo.
  • Baby Powder
"Also no show is scored better! "

Breaking Bad would like to have a word with you.
  • PragmaticPrawn
Hah! I actually will be seeing LOST on the big screen. Tomorrow night my local theater is playing the whole 3 hour event for FREE! Can't wait.
  • I am oh so envious of you right now...
  • where do you live? I want to go to this!
  • PragmaticPrawn
Rhode Island. Pretty much a useless state, on the whole, but some good things come out of it!
  • stfu! all cinemas should do this!!!
  • I'm seeing it at the Alamo Drafthouse. :D
  • Brice Gilbert
Here it is. Cloverfield, Lost, Alias, Fringe, and maybe even Star Trek. Combine them all into one universe. They all already have illusions to each other and even props and logo's. The ultimate Lost movie would be reveal that this all is in the same world and it connects. Of course the rights issues would be a pain in the ass and actually crafting a story with so much crap would be hard, but just imagine that all your favorite things were in the same world. Just so cool. Just like what Issac Asimov did with his Foundation series.
  • it'd be cool to see sydney bristow show up in fringe, but i don't think the other projects go together at all
  • Bob
A LOST movie (or second series) would be just like Star Trek and Star Trek - The Next Generation. Both Star Treks had the USS Enterprise and any future LOST's would have the island, just the characters would change. I would not be at all surprised to see LOST continue, if they can make a Sex In The City movie...
  • I wouldn't see anything Lost without the cast we have now, especially Ben, Sayid, Locke, Jack and Hugo.
  • CyT
    Hugo is the best :)
  • After watching these i cannot WAIT to see the finale, im glad they are set on ending it with all the answers instead of dragging it out through movies etc.

But at the same time im glad disney owns the rights because we could see more adventures on the island.
  • i am glad to hear that they won't continue to milk the series and will answer pretty much everything we want to know and have it end..

when lost ends it is going to leave a hole in my heart.. and i can't take that many more blows The Shield/BSG already left a big hole :( ... going to be a sad day in TV history when this brilliant show ends.
  • Judging by these past few episodes, I'm kind of hoping they kill Kate off. She's just been annoying.
  • nit Ram G
Oh man i hope they kill off Kate, but i have a feeling its gonna be Juliet
  • All that matters to me is that Lost is one of the very few modern shows (IMHO) that has been getting better and more interesting virtually every episode this season. (Granted, it wasn't always like that with Lost, but it rallied big-time last season.) Personally, I haven't been so excited to "find out what happens next week" since the best stretches of BSG.

When so many shows have let me down this year--Heroes in particular, because it was still pretty good last year, whereas 24 has just stunk mightily for a long while--I couldn't be more impressed with what Abrams, Lindelof & the rest are doing with Lost.
  • Again, never did i say I was bashing the show because of it. So get off Hurleys d**k. Oh and guess what, there has been a rerun this season. "LeFleur." There was a midseason break. So no, prior to Sweeps, they hold the new shows so that when the diaries come out, they will have had new content to be shown and will have bigger ratings. So before you go off spouting fanboy nonsense, do _your_ research.
  • Pdorwick
Wow, I guess you have to go to where fanboys gather to to hear anything good about "Lost" because the rest of the population gave up on this show a long time ago, and for good reason.
The emperor has no clothes. It continues to astound me the amount of people that mistake "Lost"'s hopelessly confused and desperate plot machinations with anything resembling a coherent, overall story. This is not a good show and hasn't been since about half way through seaon two. The series is a mess and has long ago stopped being about anything even remotely relevant.
  • Jerry
If it hasn't been relevant for years why are you posting about it on a message board?
  • chris
I think the reason some people give up on it is because unlike with other shows where you can miss a few episodes and catch up on what is happening, with Lost you really have to watch every episode right from series one. And if you do that, you will love the show as much as all the other fans and not get quite so confused by it.
