Lost

Michael Emerson, who plays Ben Linus on ABC’s LOST, says that the season finale for Season Five will make you want to eat your soul.

“Ours is a show that specializes in big shock endings, but I think season five…” Emerson tells E Online. “None of the other shock endings left me wondering how the show goes on. We have two kinds of huge shocks at the end of this one. Each one alone would be enough to keep an audience eating its own soul for the whole hiatus, but with two, I don’t know what you can do with that.”

Wow, just wow. Off the bat, I can think of a few things that could be that level of “game changer”. I have two ideas after the jump. Potential speculative spoilers, obviously.

Jack and crew stop the incident from happening, the hatch from being created, which would result in the plane never crashing on the Island. If this happened, would the castaways remain stuck on the island as alternative versions of themselves, or would they disappear completely (because after all, they never landed on the island in the first place). If the castaways disappeared, would their main land counterparts remember everything that occurred in the now alternative timeline? And even if that were the case, what could that mean for the dramatic storyline for the last 17 episodes of Season 6? It’s also worth mentioning that Desmond would probably still land on the island regardless. So maybe that is a clue?

One of the other options could be that the bomb goes off and kills everyone on the island, or at least many of the main cast members. If they die on the island, are they completely dead? This might truly be the most shocking ending, but would it be possible to continue from this plot point? The only possible solution is time travel…

And what lies in the shadow of the statue?

Maybe it's NeverLand! I hope tinkerbell (my ultimate sexual fantasy) is there.

your all wrong!

i think the bloke pretending to be locke has just freed the island from jacobs tyranical grasp. jacob was responsable for bringing people to the island and causing all the hassle and now jacob is dead the island will start to return to the way it should be.

It was a great 2 hours. I understand it to be 2 imortals that have a grude and they used people to settle their score. Thats the loophole. Jacob is now dead and the new guy comes in to play? or did Jacob know this and and the bomb changes his future. Season 6 the island would have to stop moving and be visible now if the energy is stopped. I think iam Lost !!

I don't think the next season will start that way so easily with still so many questions to be answered...if it does end the way it is supposed to be they still could possibly have their memory and that would be how the story can continue but who knows???? You could be right.?

I still want to know where the hell Claire is. Oh Claire where are you????
And am hoping that Juliette survives the incident.

The logical thing would be: The bomb goes off and therefore the plane never crashed. It is 3 years after the crash. All the passanger on that plane should find themselves somewhere in 2007 or 2008, with complete amnesia of the last 3 years. The last thing they remember is being on the plane. Maybe the last season will show how the characters lived the last three years after that flight, since the crash has never happened. And maybe all the characters will have nightmares of the island and the people there and start running into each other, not understanding why the have the feeling to know each other somehow.

I'm utterly shocked at the ending. It's left me pacing wondering how next year must be hear quicker so I know what happens! There are so many possibilities.

I have a feeling there will be something of an Egyptology theme. But there is some Grecian text in there aswell.

Cannot wait for the last ever season - the final questions will be answered :D
• I just watched the ending double episode and..
can't get my head on how blowing up the energy pocket could be good in any way. Also, why kill Jacob so soon after we finally get to know him? So, I think that Miles was right in that they create "the incident" them selves by blowing the hydrogen bomb right next to the pocket, and I think Jacob isn't so easily killed... No matter that he affirmed that the darkly dressed guy now dressed as Lock had found a loophole
Awesome episode it was! :)

me again...
Who is Jacob???????
I think there is an obvious connection with Jacob and Moses or maybe even Jacob and God? Maybe Im just drawing blanks on this one....but...you guys mentioned Purgatory on this thread a few times....so I just had to put the thought out there. After all it seems the show is suggestiong the Jacob is responsible for bringing them all to the Island....we just don't know for what yet. Cheap thrills maybe...or is the guy just a crack head with great powers and a lot of money who chose to make the island is home and got bored so he is screwing with everyone to give himself company? Well he is in the fire and presumed dead now so we will see....

Oh and your question about Hugo??? Watch the show dude? All the answers are there for you waiting...

Thanks,

• E_Surge
i think its Kate's eye that is shown in the teaser.
• E_Surge
Oh, and also, Destiny Found. I would think for Kate's side of the story, perhaps she found her real reason for returning to the island?

so smoky escaped from the house in the dschungel trough the loop in the ashe, and finally got his revenge on jacob, good ending, wow smoky disguising as locke to funny:)

i think, after watching the season 5 finale, and the half second teaser, that season 6 will open will jack opening his eyes just after the crash, the same way season 1 did, except he will have all his memories and they'll be able to redo everything they did wrong from that point and alot of the original cast will be back and not have to die and they will all get off the island while still saving it from the bad guys that want to destroy it
• I think the bomb is set off successfully and it appears they all die. But of course they don't. Isn't a prominent male character supposed to die to?

The ending of season 6 is the beginning of season 1....It's all a big loop
• Flax
It's a loop, but it will loop back around tonight. Season 5's ending is Season 1's beginning.

• My brain hurts from Lost theories.
• Sawyer & Juliette (or Kate) would be the island Adam & Eve.

eeek! I don't know what I'm going to do during the hiatus. Then I think about next May, and I think I'll definately go crazy after that. Anyway, I somehow think Jack's grandpa, is really Jack from the 70's. I don't know how it'll all play out but, that's one of my guesses. At first, I thought all the people saying that were crazy, but after watching everything play out, it doesn't seem like it anymore. I also think all the children Aaron, Charlie, Ji Yeon will have a key part next season.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for posting something on LOST's killer finale. All you LOST haters really don't know what you're missing. This is like a relationship. You're with them for 20 weeks and then they leave for 30. You miss them. And that last night before they go, the passion or friendship you have with them is like a season finale.

There are no better season finales than LOST, I'm sorry but it's a fact. There's no other show with this much emotion, drama, action and mystery on tv, past or present.

Now, my guess, and it's just a guess, for the final scene...

JACK WAKES UP IN THE JUNGLE LIKE IN SEASON 1. 815 JUST CRASHED ON THE ISLAND. HE HAS TO EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN.

Yes & thank you
• Heather
yup! Cause that's exactly what kept happening to Desmond, remember! Think season 2 when he was trying so hard to save Charlie, what whatever is supposed to happen will happen.....no matter how many times you go back and try again the outcome will always be the same...
• Is it Wednesday yet? I never thought I would be looking forward to a Wednesday.
• Well everyone on the island talks about the incident before they ever time traveled... I think the "incident" happens like it is supposed to happen and always did happen... but obviously it's going to leave a wake of damage
• shameless
well considering that jj directed star trek in which time travel doesnt change the future but rather creates an alternate reality, even if they stop the hatch event from happening, i doubt that it would automatically take them off the island. why would jj change his theory of time travel?
• drew
Everyone Just remember Julietts back story. If the Bomb goes off, nothing about history or future changes. Desmond is the only factor that can change history, so its all up to him. Also, the others havent taken over the Dharma initiative yet. This story line has a long ways to go.
• Karl
1. Jack will die.
2. Jacob is either Jack or Locke.
3. Sawyer, Juliette and Kate are the only survivors and in season 6 will somehow come back to set new events in motion.

But who knows, anything is possible with Lost.
• keef
You idiots, don't trust ANYTHING Michael Emerson says. He's a master manipulator!
• I'm focusing on Jacob. What's gonna happen when we get to him?
• Like Locke said "...gonna kill him." :)
• I expect whatever happens to revolve around the Bomb and Locke. On the other hand, if they are trapped in a Predestination Paradox, no matter what happens it wont change the events as they happened.
• AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! That's all I have to say. Lost is the most amazing roller coaster I've ever ridden and my God will this be the biggest fall yet (in a fun and exciting way). I can't even begin to imagine what will happen....
• Lili
I completely agree!!!! I'm also sad the ride will be over next year
• WWWWAAAAAALLLLLTTTT!!!
• Fuck that. Did anyone see the House finale? That's one of the biggest mind fucks I have ever experienced on syndicated TV!!!

LOST IS BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not u Josh, CaptainAwesome.
• It was a very odd ending, considering the happenings of the past couple episodes. I thought it was handled pretty well.
• I find it amazing that you used the word "mindfuck" to explain it too. I said that to like... 5 people after the end of the episode. It was one hell of a finale. lol
• cekma
The problem with everyone dying is that Kate and Sayid helped Richard in 2004 rescue Ben in exchange to leave the island. Rewatch the season 4 finale if you forget. so how are we suppose to believe that Richard met Kate and Sayid in 1977 and saw them die yet he doesn't acknowledge their existence in 2004?
• gah
haven't watched the show, but honestly how does the big guy stay so huge on a deserted island? figure he wouldve shed some of those lbs by now.
• dale
the asnwer to what lies in the shadow of the statue? is " he who can save us all " this is what richarrd says to alana in latin
• Gen.
More clarification. They were only deserted for a couple of months, during which they got a hold of a pretty hefty amount of Dharma-food. Now, while rationing out this to the 42(I think) people, Hurley had a secret stash of cookies and mayo and stuff. Even so, he mentioned that he'd gone down several pegs on his belt, just that it didn't really show very well.

After which the Oceanic Six, he among them, ended up back home in the real world for three years. Plenty of time to eat(and he did). Now back on the Island he's been working in the kitchen, making sandwiches and stuff for the Dharma Initiative in 1977 Last episode he was seen hoarding down massive amounts of food into a backpack for a little trek into the forest.
• Are you the same guy that asks this in EVERY Lost blog? I even heard a comedian say the exact same thing...like 4 years ago. Original.
• Peter
Yeah, it's like the complaint every non-Lost watcher mentions first. "What about the fat guy?" Ugh. As soon as these people actually watch the show that question is erased and replaced with actually interesting ones.
• technically, they were only on the island for 100 days or so. even while they were there, they found a huge shipment of Dharma Initiative food and food in the aforementioned hatch.

i don't want to sound like a pretentious douche, just thought i'd clarify.
• Time travel. ;)
• Well like you said.... you haven't watched the show
