On May 20th, [adult swim] is scheduled to announce new shows and give a thorough update on its eight-hour programming block. TV Barn recently paid a visit to the mythical Williams Street office in Atlanta, where [as] founder Mike Lazzo let it be known that he’s acquired the UK-version of The Office: “That’s a done deal. It’s happening. …The only thing I don’t know is when to put it on.” The rather awesome acquisition follows in line with [as]’s recent importation of British comedy series The Mighty Boosh and the utterly craze Look Around You. Moreover, it’s yet another live-action addition to a nocturnal line-up built on signature, subversive, stony animation.

An upcoming [as] program that I eagerly anticipate sliming my mind and hundreds-of-thousands of others is entitled Totally For Teens. Numerous trailers for it—think ’80s after school specials suitable for Videodrome’s Civic-TV or 4chan—have hit the web, but the latest was too damn amazing not to share. Take a look and have your egg fried after the jump…

Totally For Teens is a collaboration between former producer of The Daily Show Ari Fishman, Wonder Showzen’s Vernon Chatman (Towelie on South Park), and Derrick Beckles. Beckles serves as the host of the show within a show, and is best known for being one of the faces of The Truth campaign, and for the underground sensation that are his TV Carnage DVDs.

Also, if you ever wondered what the inside of [as]’s HQ looked like, check out this video that includes the “Clairvoyant Sleeping Cat” Zoltar machine that made an appearance at last year’s Comic-Con. And a Family Guy pinball machine that gets more play than Carl Brutananadilewski.

Who freakin cares? Everyone already has the Office UK on dvd or should go out and get it. dont settle for out of continutiy censored episodes with commercial interruptions people. I like adult swim, but invest in some more original programming you cheap bastards.
  • Agreed. Once of the best DVD investments I ever made was getting every episode and holiday special of the UK The Office.

Are they going to edit it down for american tv? cut out the swearing and some of the sexual stuff?

and pardon my french, but anyone who would rather watch the bastardized american version of this show than the original is a complete ****ing moron.
  • I don't know if I'd go that far. At this point the US version of "The Office" is a completely different show than the British one. While it does not compare as a whole to the UK version a majority of the US episodes are pretty damn funny. Although I do have one major bone to pick with Krasinski. Stop looking at the camera man! You'll never be as cool as Martin Freeman. (Who did it what, once?)

Would the average [adult swim] viewer even want to watch the original version of The Office?
  • Bummer, Man!
So The Office will be playing on CARTOON Network? Par for the course, I guess...
  • Give Look Around You a try too...in fact, I'd rate it over the Boosh (although I DO love me some crimping).

Look Around You series 1 is based on the 10-20 minute TV science programs that supplemented primary school education in the UK in the 70's and 80'. Series 2 is based on Tomorrow's World, a prime time popular science show that was on the BBC, also in the 90's.

Basically, surreal them both up and play it absolutely straight faced and you have a great series. Please give them a try!

They're both beautiful created period pieces as well - all the music and set designs are period perfect.

I'm pissed! I watched that Wm St video. I used to work there. When I left, they were in the beginning stages of refurbing Wm St. That was more than a year and a half ago. All I see is the same old shit with some new grafitti. Where's my pirate ship, Laz??? GARRRR! I WANT A PIRATE SHIP!

p.s. I have used the elevator. Once. I wouldn't recommend it. Take the stairs. It's only 3 floors, and you're either going from the basement to the office or from the roof to the office.

p.p.s. Note to fans who might want to try to sneak in: Turner Security have killed before. No lie. On the other hand, I remember some guy showing up at TWD in a stormtrooper outfit one day who ended up getting a VIP tour and all kinds of swag. I think someone was just impressed that he managed to get in the building without, ya know, getting shot in the face. Sooooo...bullet to the face or swag...there's something for everyone at Williams St.
  • The Office UK is one of my favourite shows of all time. Its brilliant, and having Ricky Gervais pervade American television every night/week would be even more brilliant, nevermind it being a little late - at least millions of people can finally watch it. Although most of them will probably hate it. "Oh its so slow and depressing.." Anyway, I love it, so this is good news.

Maybe it's just that I outgrew it, but Adult Swim stopped being the "cool" thing to watch over the past few years. During my college years from 2002 until 2006, there was hardly a night when I didn't watch. But tuning in lately, most of their original shows seem pretentious, unfunny, and well, just stupid.

Still love Venture Bros. though! That's the only thing they've got going for them in my book.
  • Tim and Eric is hilarious.

Awesome. Now if only they could pick up IT Crowd for broadcast, then all my dreams will come true.
  • Dude, the IFC channel showed the new season and are now showing repeats.

HA! Totally for Teens seems more awesome every new clip I see of it almost like a completely live action Wonder Showzen except mocking teens not kids.

My favorite part of the video is with the drill instructor telling a pregnant teen to stop being pregnant.

They have been airing BBC Office on BBC America for a while. It's even OnDemand for Comcast subscribers (or was in the past).
  • Cool news. I use to watch The Office on BBC America I'm glad I'll get to see the episodes again. I haven't watched The Might Boosh yet, but it's sitting on my DVR.
  • The British Office acquisition would have been exciting 5 years ago.
  • Zac
but considering its still never been shown on US tv to my knowledge, its still going to introduce a lot of people to the show.
The NBC one is funny, but has gotten less beleivable the longer it goes. the UK series is more grounded in reality.
The irony is not lost on me that the sensible UK series is on the same network as Superjail and Aqua Teens, while the show where the boss drives his car in a lake and someone gets tricked into a german wedding on a beet farm is on NBC.
  • BBC America has been showing The Office for some time though I agree with your point that at least more people will be exposed to it's brilliance.

To be fair, the US one has improved a great deal with the latest plotline, but yeah, Adult Swim's programming block is just weird.

Also, the BBC show has aired on American TV already. It's still On Demand I believe.
