tron 2 set photo

AICN has a new set photo of the ENCOM building from Tron 2. Apparently they were filming a flashback sequence where someone, possibly Bruce Boxleitner, rushs through a swarm of people outside the building wearing t-shirts that say “Flynn Lives”. Click on over to see the full photo in high res.

Meanwhile, Collider reports that the sign on the Tron production offices door at Disney had the TR2N logo, which further confuses the matter of the film’s correct title.

A television for film snobs? The new Philips Ultra-Widescreen Television is formatted to almost perfectly fit a 2.35:1 framed movie. …but a 16:9 movie would have black bars on the left and the right side of the picture.

CHUD has the trailer or Dan Fogler’s directing debut Hysterical Psycho, a spoof of the Cabin in the Woods type horror films.

David S Goyer and Brannon Braga’s Flash Forward, based on the sci-fi novel by Robert J Sawyer, will be going forward as an ABC television series. [AICN]

true blood posters

I love the posters for the second season of True Blood. [ropesofsilicon]

Columbus Short will reteam with his Stomp The Yard director Sylvain White for the big screen adaptation of the Vertigo/DC Comics graphic novel The Losers. [THR]

  • greycolumbus
I need to start reading Wired. =/
  • I wouldn't. Cant stand the pretentious layouts. Sacrifice readability for looks....horrible.
  • Boxoffice Marco
That widescreen TV is a joke but the posters for True Blood: Season 2 rock!
  • Nick
That's really horrible. They advertise the tv's ability to ruin the picture, stretching 16:9 to 2.35:1, and 4:3 to 16:9.

I'm sure you can work the setting so that everything would show in it's proper ratio, but it looks like the default thing that they're encouraging buyers to do is stretch the picture.

Why do companies have to be so intentionally obtuse?
  • I'm sure it would use zoom-through technique, not stretch.
  • never could get into true blood. the first scene of ep 1 totally threw me off. tv is effing badass though. i'll definitely be one of the first to steal one of those.
  • Frank
True Blood seems like a daily soap for the first 3 or 4 eps, but then it really kicks into gear and you want to see more. Give it a try :)
  • that harry potter epilogue is going to be a little weird on screen.
and you better hope not because thats the last scene of the franchise.

i think they should do the epilogue after the credits, that way its not exactly the last scene of the movie and more of an epilogue.
  • I really want J.K. to write more.. maybe lease it out to other authors, kind of like an Expanded Universe.. maybe not focus on the main characters, but whole new ones. I loved the world of the wizards/witches.
  • jason B
-brick is in my top 10 of all time - therefore i am overjoyed that they didn't use that hideous poster.

-lucas lee seems to be getting most of the 'evil-ex's' press, but i'm hoping he isn't the focus of the ex boyfriends in SPVTW. yes both evans & lee are fun characters, but the ex's should be as evenly dispensed in the film as they are in the books... not to mention, in the big picture, lucas lee is not that significant of an evil ex at all. i'm not loosing faith in wright, i just have a mad one for this series & hope things translate fairly even keeled, as i don't see any reason why they shouldn't.

  • jason B
also, in that star trek 'ruin' contest - how in the fuck did they choose THAT other one as the winner?! it's pretty lame.
  • mikeyclt
Yea... I am constantly on Giz and I really don't get the beard reference. The only thing I have come up with is "everything is better with beards" I just don't get it. There was atleast 10 that I thought were clear winners of the beards shoop
  • freemachine
RE: "A Star Wars fan donated his kidney to a fellow Stormtropper."

The shear awesomeness of that generous act completely negates the dorkiness that goes along with being enlisted in the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers...but just for that guy.
  • Ahh... mondays are so much nicer when i've got a page 2 waiting for me! Thanks!! Love it, baby.
  • Bars on both sides? No way, are they kidding me? Philips... wake up!
  • edc
I know! this is worse than darfur!
oh wait, no it isn't. black bars on a tv nobody can afford means zero.
  • Nick
Well that's how you watch 4:3 movies on a 16:9 tv now, it's and it's not a big deal. People immediately got used to black bars on the top and bottom, bars on the left and right aren't any different.
  • That Brick poster is extremely dope, especially the use of the cigarette.
I just can't wait for Public Enemies.
  • man that master-chief pic just reminded me how much I really really want a Halo movie.
  • why won't that pixar video work?
I want to see Kevin the bird!
  • Leslie Mann is funny, so is Elizabeth Banks. They would be a good comedic duo in a movie, I think. I LOVE the Klanbusters logo, now if I could wear that.
  • I need that TV!
  • I loved Kisses. Lance Daly came down for the Miami Film Festival where I was interning at and I was able to introduce the film with him. Great guy, great movie.
  • mikeyclt
The vampires dont shimmer, do they?
  • lucky lew
Paramount already took down that Transformers video.... stupid youtube Nazis!
  • That ridiculously cool poster has convinced me to give Brick a second chance (I didn't like it that much when I saw it in theaters).

Also, a Pushing Daisies comic is awesome but a movie would be exponentially more awesome. I want closure for that show.
  • _spinster_
what does that mean for the harry potter cast, their going to be cartoons???
  • I guess they'll use CGI to make the cast look older, since it is almost 20 years later that the epilogue takes place.
  • I just got my issue of Wired in the mail today. I'm impressed with this month's issue. It's worth to have a subscription.
  • I haven’t read anything yet from the new issue of Wired, but there’s a great video of JJ Abrams at the TED Conference called “The Mystery Box”. My guess is it’s similar. See: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/j_j_abrams_mys...
    (It’s 18 minutes long.)
  • I love it when we get the images from Gizmodo that ruins movies. There are tons that are way better than the Halo image at the top of the article.
