Inglourious Basterds Photo: Eli Roth and Brad Pitt

A new photo has surfaced showing Eli Roth and Brad Pitt in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. Roth plays Sgt. Donny Donowitz AKA “The Bear Jew”, a character The Nazis believe is an avenging golem (a mystical monster) created by a Jewish rabbi. He kills his enemies with a baseball bat. Pitt plays Lt. Aldo Raine, AKA “Aldo The Apache”, the non-Jewish leader of a Jewish-American/German soldier unit called “The Basterds.” The film is expected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The domestic release is scheduled for August 21st 2009. Thanks to Christopher M for the tip.

  • Brad Pitt is one of those actors I believe when they claim they're being a little underlooked and told they're just good actors because they are handsome or whatever. He actually proved himself somewhere in between True Romance and Seven. And supported it with Snatch or Fight Club. Anyway, Eli Roth - I kinda loved Cabin fever. I think its funny and a little fucked up. Maybe it arrived a year or two too late, but I liked it neverthelss. Nevermind Eli Roth himself, who is funny and cool, apparently. However, Afer Hostel 2 I find myself longing for a renewal in Eli Roth fanaticism since I have not much to wait for. This seems alright, just because of the Thanksgiving thing. thankgsviging FTW. anyway, peace!
  • Agreed. Pitt has shown he has some acting chops with 12 Monkeys, Kalifornia, Snatch., Fight Club, and his best performance to date in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Too many people dismiss him because he's so popular and the "pretty boy" type.

Whoa! The combination of Pitt's nickname, Aldo The Apache, and that big-ass bowie knife he's holding really makes me think he's serious when he's says, "Each and every man under my command owes me 100 Nazi scalps...and I want my scalps!" Something tells me he's gonna get them. o.0

yea, after reading the script, this movie is going to get a well deserved R-rating, and its going to be bloody and hilariously dark. Bloody in the sense of the fight of The Bride vs the Crazy 88s. It's gonna be awesome

egh... stallone and lundgren dynamiting small holes in Chile, please.
  • Well hey there new desktop background, you're looking good.
  • Glorious
You guys can't spell "bastards"? How sad is that?
  • The movie is titled with Inglorious and Bastards both spelled wrong. Blame Tarantino.
  • freemachine
Tarantino "borrowed" the title (as he "borrows" everything else) from the 1978 film by Castellari. The working title for the film was spelled (correctly) the same way as the 1978 film. For some reason, QT decided to misspell the title at the last moment. If someone braver than me would like to get into that guy's head and pose a possible reason why he did this, I'm all ears.
  • The flick is titled that way to differentiate itself from Enzo Castellari's movie of the same name which is a huge influence.
  • You don't even know Tarantino's new film's title?! How sad is that?
  • Dan SOLO!
I have the feeling this movie is going to suck!
  • I have a feeling you're a little bitch.
  • Pitt should retire - or at least take a year or two off. Getting more and more difficult to belive he is not acting. Alebeith, Button was good. Take a breather, brad!

Pitt has only gotten better with age. HOWEVER, every photo of him from this film makes it look like he's playing it silly George Clooney style (O Brother). When I read the script his character came off as a TRUE badass. Not someone with that fakeass sneer.
  • He has that sneer in burn after readin, too...
  • Mark Wahlberg shoulda played Donny Donowitz
  • Pitt looks like a badass. Don't know about Roth though.
  • I would hate to be the german on the other end of that blade. Pitt does look like a bad ass, cant say much about Eli Roth since I havent seen much of his acting ability. Never the less I cant wait for this movie to drop
  • Does the Robocop vision have something to do with the movie or is it from the scan?
  • wtfImashapeshifter
Is Roth doing his best impression of "Sylar" from heroes?
  • Damn, I was going to make a joke about that. Oh, well.

    And Heroes is TEh suXorz.
  • Say what you will about Eli Roth's acting chops but that smirk he provides in the trailer right after Aldo says "and the edge of our knives," to me emphasizes just how incredibly awesome and sadistic his character is going be.
  • Great photo, hope this movie is as good as advertised.
