Michael Bay arms crossed

The Onion has published a funny fake news article announcing Michael Bay’s “landmark $50 million agreement” to “monumentally fuck up” a big screen live-action adaptation of ThunderCats. The article quotes Bay as saying “I couldn’t be more excited to completely fuck this up.”

“I’ll use every directorial tool I have to suck the very life and charm out of this beloved cartoon,” added Bay, claiming that the film could turn out to be the most colossal piece of shit he’s ever worked on. “I won’t rest until I get every last scene exactly wrong.”

'You can do it!, snarf snarf XD
  • Oh man the Onion is always good for a few laughs. I have a friend that thinks some of the Onion material is real.
  • I like Michael Bay, even if I wouldn't classify any of his films as great (save The Rock and perhaps some of the Island). He makes great entertainment. And this was one funny article!
  • A friend of mine was heavily involved with writing the original Thundercats series, and he got his hands on some footage of the CGI movie that's currently in the works. I hadn't heard anything, really, but it's absolute garbage. I emailed you /Film guys about it but didn't get any word back. If you're interested, let me know.

the true 'LOL' is that probably 98% of the onion staff has no idea what it actually takes to direct/make films. i defy any of the internet micheal bay cry-babies to make a 3 minute short that is even somewhat coherent. making films isn't easy: sitting in front of a computer and complaining about something you don't even understand is about as easy as it gets.

and if anyone would actually re-watch the transformers cartoons, they'd see it was far from a masterpiece. i cherish the entire franchise, but the dialogue was silly and most of the plots were quite thin. i won't even comment on the abortion that was thundercats.

unless you really know what it takes to do what bay does, shut the fuck up & quit embarrassing yourselves.

ok you can take Bay's cock out of your mouth now
  • skippy
let us know when you're done kissing Michael Bay's a-hole...
  • Matt
Ah, Michael Bay hate, it amuses me. A billion whiny teenagers all join in at once on the interwebs...but come this Summer they'll all be sitting there gawking and salivating at the robots on screen in Transformers 2 just like the rest of us....until they leave the theater and start trash talking again, their secret love of *gasp* actually having fun still in tact.
  • That is the funniest news title ever.

It's also really funny because the Real Michael Bay follows the Onion on Twitter, so you know he woke up, pushed the twelve girls off his silk sheets, had his assistants pull up his twitter page and read him the headlines from the Onion, cackling to himself and then inquiring as to what they mean, all the while drinking coffee from a platinum mug that's only meant to look like porcelian, then noticing one of his assistents, laptop in hand, had stopped reading and is standing their, quivering, at which point Bay starts grunting and snorting his nose, and then with sheer panic and terror, the assistant read that Michael Bay Thundercats headline, and well, let's just say the rest involved a platinum mug that looks like porcelian, twelve explosions, product integration for Apple computers, Krupps coffeemakers, and band-aid brand bandages, and one less assistant to spoonfeed and then burb Mr. Bay.

So thanks The Onion, you just killed someone.

Get a sense of humor or just find something worthy to complain about.
  • I really don't know why people hate Michael Bay and his Transformers. For me it was fantastic. I barelly remember the cartoon series but the movie was awesome. Lots of action, gorgeous effects, top notch technical quality overall, I don't expect more for a "transformers" movie.

I also like The Island. The only downside of the movie for me is the colors. but other than that it is also fun to watch. I'll probably like every movie he is going to make.
  • Matt
I haven't seen the island, but anyone who says they didn't have a fun time during Transformers is either lying or 80 years old.
  • Yeah, The Island is hard to like because of its wrong chosen colors and strange angles, it's somehow failed to achieve the futuristic atmosphere altought the nice designs of the vehicles and the city etc.
  • dxr
To each their own. I don't have anything against Bay. In fact, I quite enjoy a lot of his movies, including The Island.

But I will still stand by my opinion that Transformers was a mess and could have been so much better. :/
  • Congrats
    NO
  • Is this really newsworthy? I mean, isn't stuff like this posted on The Onion every day?
  • It would be uber-cool if Bay cameo'd as Snarf.
  • dxr
The Onion isn't even trying anymore. All they did was replace "Transformers" with "Thundercats".
  • What a silly article. Uwe Boll could do a much better job ruining Thundercats than Michael Bay.
  • LOL
  • I'll do it for 48 million.

Almost as good as "CGI Team Creates Realistic Oscar For Michael Bay," and just as likely to happen, too.
  • i did like that one better, but this one is pretty good too
  • Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if that was true.
  • MYnewPEPEP
    There is no GOD...
  • The cast listing is awesome.
  • Scott
    YES
  • It's funny because it could be true.
