Early Buzz: Pixar’s Up

up

Pixar’s new film Up has begun to screen for press, here is some of the few bits of early buzz to leak onto the web and twitter. Big shocker… people loved it:

Movie Matters : “Up is at times quite breathtaking.

Flux-capacitor_normaltrevorhale: UP wasn’t the best Pixar movie, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.
21463848-22125404_normalmarcusleshock: Looks like PIxar has done it again. I cried like a baby during “Up.”

  • I guess it's nice to hear that the review for UP are positive right now. Pixar films are usually good so this one shouldn't disappoint. I plan on watching this movie and hope that it's as good as theses tweets say it is.
  • Nice to here that the first critics came back positive - but hey, who would expect anything else, it's Pixar :-) ...
  • Quick question on 3D given this will be showing in the new tech, anyone know the best place to sit for 3D screenings; in the middle or to the sides?

I've seen a couple of the new 3D movies and it seems that the 3D effects that come out of the screen are better from the side, but the depth of field effects are better sat in the middle. Kind of makes it a catch 22 situation.
  • The further back you are, the more exaggerated the sense of depth. Always better to sit centrally in a left-right sense.
  • True, thats what I thought. However if you are in the middle few seats of a row you really miss out on some of the effects that are made to pop out of the screen.

I know sometimes these are simply gimmicks, but there were in effects in Beowulf I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on because I was central.
  • I've been told my 3D experts that its better to sit at a placement where the screen takes up most of your peripheral vision for best effect, and that is why the IMAX screen is better for 3D.
  • True, thats what I though. However if you are in the middle few sits of a row you really miss out on some of the effects that are made to pop out of the screen.

  • I'm definitely watching "UP". I've loved almost every single Pixar movie (for the exception of Cars that was just alright).

    Can't wait.
  • I definitely agree with you, I love every Pixar films but Cars. Hate it.. I think that movie is "only for kids", those big eyes and that shiny mouth is so fraking retarted.
  • just wondering, have you seen Cars twice? I, like you, didn't think it was all that great. It was good, just not up to Pixar's standard. I recently watched it for a second time, and was blown away. I don't know why, but I was really impressed the second time around.
  • C'mon Tiger!!
  • Did anyone expect anything less. PIxar has "THE GIFT."
  • OMG you are so TYL. Righting short is dumb. LOL!

The buzz is close to zero. Subdued? Muted? Can it beat WALL-E or Finding Nemo?

UP doesn't have to aspire to be as great as WALL-E or Nemo...just as long as it's better than that Dreamworks Kung-Fu Panda crap I'll be absolutely satisfied. If you're looking for the next great Pixar film you'll have to wait for Toy Story 3, because I'm positive that it will be the animation film to beat next year.

Lol, Malick663. Pixar = kids movies.

I'm amazed when I read adults almost crying while watching this high tech cartoons,,,

Why don't we interview some 6 year olds and ask them what they thought. Clearly some of these reviewers are pandering to Pixar.
  • The words Pixar and quality go hand and hand.

OMG i dont get Twitter, whats so cool about it? people actually love it because its the manifest of how lazy human kind has been getting the last 5 years? guess typing two paragrahps is overrated nowadays.

I prefer the 140 character limit. It forces people to be concise as opposed to rambling on for two paragraphs.
  • And yet you feel the need to abreviate 'oh my god'?
  • I can't wait.
I'd like to try it in 3-D as well as regular 2-D
