First Costumed Tron 2 Actor Revealed

Tron 2 set photo

I don’t normally post photos of extras on movie sets but its been a slow news day due to the holiday. Also, when it comes to a high profile sequel, I’ll pretty much share every last bit.

As you probably know, Disney’s Tron sequel is currently shooting in Vancouver. /Film reader Mark P sent in this photo of an extra on the set. It was taken a couple days ago when the film was shooting downtown. I have no further details to dispense. They’ve been shooting sequences which take place in “the real world”, or more specifically New York City. Yesterday we posted a set photo showing a building with the ENCom logo, and our scooper reported seeing “tons of police cars chasing a guy hanging on to the top of a taxi.”

I’m actually not even sure the person pictured is an extra or a co-starring cast member. For all I know, the guy in the Blue spandex could be Garrett Hedlund, who plays Kevin Flynn’s son Sean in the sequel. Who knows?

That costume is real. Obviously you guys don't know jack shit about TRON! that's the suits they use in the disks of tron. pretty retro and cool if you ask me.
  • Wheresfloren
Maybe thats an actor playing an actor who stands around the ENCom building playing a video game character like those Lara Croft girls at E3.

it looks like the food stand is actually in the middle of the set itself. couldnt they actually give these people food for free at least? slave labor...
  • I spy camel toe.
  • marz
hmmm are they still filming kick -ass??is that what this is? i COULD believe that was a kick-ass costume.
  • Sure that's not a Power Ranger???
  • kyle
thats not the real set you knob
  • if you told me it was a shot of ben stiller suited up for zoolander 2 i would believe it more.
  • freemachine
There is no fucking way this is a legit costume. There is no detail on the suit whatsoever. And the headband? WTF? Please... At most I'll say this guy may be a stand-in, but even that's going a bit far.
  • HOW BAD do you gotta want a fucking donut to walk outside in that?
  • Exactly what I was thinking. They must be some damn good donuts and coffee at that craft cart.
  • Seriously.

Master Control is taking over all of cyberspace, and i a program, am forced to drink crappy vendor coffee and stale donuts. USER!!!!!
  • Yeah it doesnt look that great... kinda fruity but I'm sure within the film it'll look pretty decent... hopefully haha
  • Dr. Manhattan should so be in Tron 2. He already glows blue! He may not be a part of humanity, but he could be a part of a computer.
  • David
    This is a comedy, right?
  • John Guard
    looks gay.
  • is one boot taller than the other?
  • Haha, he is totally hitting on craft services girl. Which takes balls when wearing that get up.
  • Actually, maybe he's just employing Mystery's 'Peacock' strategy.
  • ziggi
    lol. that looks awful.
you sure thats not a convention pic?
  • evanz
The punk barista is totally sweatin his headband.
  • Well apparently they're not spending any of that 300 mil on costume design. lol
  • Come on people...that's just an extra. I bet most of the costume was taken off so this dude could get a breath of fresh air (and cool down a bit). Besides, you know they're just going to composite some sick looking tech'd-out 3D costume over the spandex.
  • I agree..I really hope that isn't what the costumes will look like because it looks worse than that fat Tron dude's homemade costume...you never know it could be for a flashback....if it's the film's actual costume we could be getting "Tron 2 the Disney Channel Special"...they very well could wreck this movie, too many people are all hyped about this is getting made...I don't think anyone has really given the thought DIsney could make a Race To Witch Mountain type film again....
  • REAL6
Looks like he has Camel Toe
  • You know how I know you're gay?
  • Thank god, I've been waiting so long for live-action smurfs. =D But where's the giant head? =/
  • I don't think thats an actual costume. Might be for mocap? I don't know

*throws 300 Mill quote in here*

There we go, now it makes sense.
  • when is this coming out again? 2011? really? in theory this movie could come out easily in 2010. (IE: Terminator Salvation fllmed last year and it's coming out in May)
  • I don't think you realize the amount of post-production that is undoubtedly needed on this film.
  • Andyrooskie
    Aww. Dude just blue himself.
  • Hobo General
i'm pretty sure that costume is just being worn to throw people off. it makes no sense for a tron-m@n to be hanging out in a city. they only live in computers.
  • Guy with Glasses
Oh my god. ROFLMAO. Guys... do any of you have any clue how movies are made? The guy walked off of a set. The set could be ANYTHING.
  • Palmer
Maybe it's just one of the many "colorful" characters of New York City.
  • gah
300 million? Not if that's one of the actual costumes.
  • Guy with Glasses
If you've ever seen real hollywood props and costumes, they all look ridiculous and cheap until you put them in context in front of a camera (and/or run them through hours of post production)
  • Well I think they probably use the 300 Million for the many special effects needed to make this costume look cool ;-) No seriously, that will surely look much nicer in the finished product. (Well perhaps this scene is actually in the movie, and it shows a single program - must be some kind of Windows, referring to that sexy suit - taking a break to drink some coffee... So that's what REALLY happens when you see the hourglass on your computer screen... ;-) )
  • prackprack
lol that's definitely not Garrett Hedlund, garrett is super fit
  • Oi to the Vey
if there is one way to influence the filmmakers in a small way through fandom, maybe we just should call it TRON 2 unofficially. Hopefully the influence will rub off on the title.
  • I hope so.
  • Samboni
Do we know if the tron guy is going to get a cameo?
  • They haven't asked me yet...I sure hope they do.
  • HollywoodHills
Tron my ass...That costume plus the craft service booth tells me this is a still from the set of the live action Tick....
  • Tallywacker
300 million dollars and that is what the costumes look like. :) j/k
  • yes, because that's the way it's going to look in the movie. That's right (read the sarcasm here)
  • No matter what you do in Post... the Headband is NEVER a good idea. He looks like an extra in the movie Fame.
  • Hey wow, maybe Tron Guy got himself into shape?
