VOTD: Spike Jonze’s Everyone Poops

everyone poops spike jonze

Spike Jonze, fresh off directing Where The Wild Things Are has decided to adapt another popular 10-page children’s book into a feature film. Watch the trailer for “Everyone Poops” after the jump.

Thanks to /Film reader Jared N for the tip.

  • Awesome
  • teisel
hey peter you should really label this as fan made bullshit before alot of people waste their time pushing play.
  • dave
    wow.
  • AGFerris
You really thought he was adapting a movie for Everyone Poops?
  • Brad
If you couldn't figure it out on your own, then I'm sorry to inform you but you are officially stupid. Seriously. You are dumb.
  • hahahahahahahaahahahahaaha holy poop man
  • Elric
The only mistake people make when thinking this is real news is that they don't notice the "VOTD" label in the headline. And their mistake persists until they click play - after that it's obvious what this is about. Otherwise, this SOUNDS like real news for a lot of reasons. Spike Jonze is known for unusual movies. Hollywood is known for its lack of ideas and for adapting and remaking almost anything. Also, a lot of people here are not from the US and they know nothing about American children books - I have never heard of "Where the wild things are" before they started making a movie about it. So stop mistaking lack of attention for stupidity. Also, Django, I see that you're trying really hard, but you're not funny.
  • Djangooo
Thank you Elric. I really needed a fictional character created by Michael "More-Cock" to point out how seriously you take your satire.

To the point where you've clearly failed to see the latent humor in a fake trailer made about a book called "Everyone Poops".

The sympathy I have for people who failed to realize Jonze wouldn't make a movie about a book w/ that title simply dont deserve to call themselves film fans, in ANY country.

So - yes. I have a right to point out that (not-so-ironically) they don't know where their SHIT's @!!!
  • Elric
The full name is actually Edward Elric and has nothing to do with Michael Moorcock. But hey, I'm sure if you google it you can find some witty dick humour about that too.

Also, I haven't said anything about the trailer. I said that BEFORE watching the trailer, people might get fooled into thinking this is genuine news.

And yeah, Jonze would never make a movie about that kind of book, 'cause there aren't any sell-out directors out there, right? Look at Alex Proyas directing I Robot. Look at Ridley Scott directing Monopoly. And so on. In a few years you'll probably eat your words. As full of dick and crap as they are.
  • Django
I will never eat my own feces - and out of respect to the amazing author Michael Moorcock, I do not believe you live up to his creation's fidelity.

I Robot is a great story. Monopoly - yes I see your point that directors are being drawn to crap projects.

But I still don't see a connection to a "VOTD" "Midleading You" into believing Spike Jonze was directing a film based on the children's book "EVERYONE POOPS".

Lets focus on something positive. Have you seen the trailer for his upcoming "Where the Wild Things Are"? It looks great! It's tear-enducing, how bold his vision for a Children's book the world holds near & dear looks!

Please - I'm sorry you've never read Where the Wild Things Are. It's Truly. Truly. Truly. An amazing book! I recommend you pick it up - at ANY age!

Then - whether you read it or not, consider the book "Everyone Poops". (Hint: It's for toddlers)

Then ask yourself: What am I fighting for? Spike Jonze. Would NEVER. Make. Everyone. POOPS.
  • Kyle
What do you mean, Bullshit? This was incredible! If this fake trailer, even if you thought it was real, didn't make you smile, you have no soul.
  • hahaha, that was nice.

and to the dude (teisel) above me, how could you possibly think this is a real feature film. duuuuuuumb.
  • Infrafan
    Wait. Everybody does this? Huh.
  • Why is there a plumber there? I mean, I get the unicorn, but...
  • Dumberer
At the risk of sounding dumb, I also thought he was adapting an actual children's book. There are a lot of crazy titles out there, and I thought this one was a book for really small children or just something that tries to sound funny. And concerning Spike Jonze adapting it, that would be no surprise. Ridley Scott is making a movie based on Monopoly, for god's sake. These days is hard to tell real Hollywood news from fake ones. Anyway, it took me only a few seconds into the trailer to realise what was going on.
  • It is a real children's book. The movie, however, is fake.
  • Django
It's real. It's VERY real. Everyone does, in fact, Poop - and your child will not become aware of this fact - until you open up that book for them.

Seriously, it's a great children's book - and a challenge for adults to read without laughing!

    Ain't nothin' wrong with that!

Inside everyone ... is POOP! HAHA!

Next, you should have Michael Moore do a documentary on the award winning Philophical tome: "ON BULLSHIT".

It's a real book. Look it up!
  • I think I just pooped! Great post!
  • lol TMI.
  • dreamc
With Jonze you can expect anything so i believed it was real and felt very underwhelmed and disappointed that he would make something which looks like this as he's so much better visually. This should be labelled very clearly to show he has nothing to do with this....
  • Django
    April Foolze!

Because he'd make a movie w/ the exact same shots, soundtrack and dialogue twice.

Imagine - if this VOTD somehow generated a backlash against Spike Jonze, b/c apparently so many people can't tell when it's fake or the real deal?

Dude. Y'all need to read more children's books!

They're those things that you start with? Before you read real books?
  • gastrotect
Wow. There are some gullible ass people here. The post is a VOTD post, shouldn't that be warning enough that it isn't real?
  • Ahahaha this is great.
Anyone who doesn't know that any VoTD is going to be a spoof of some sort, or at least something funny, should keep that in mind next time if they thought this was real.
    But I loved it.
  • Django
Yeah what the Hell. Satire is not allowed on the internet.
Only real movies are. I thought you guys knew your bullshit from your real shit.

In which case, you should probably censor teisel's bullshit comment because that Everyone Poops shit was some really GOOD shit.

    SHEE-OOT!
  • Django
And while we're at it - how about reporting that that's not the REAL Owen Wilson, but a fake nose, calling itself Spike Jonze!

WTF! I was disappointed! Myeh myeh myeh wahhh!!!
  • Albert Brodsky
What the hell was this? Did Spike Jones really make this? I'm so confused and stupid. I was hoping for a actual movie based on my favorite book, but I don't remember a unicorn in the book. Damn Spike Jones and his creativeness! All the time I spent watching this could have been spent googling Glenn Beck.
  • April Fool's Month! FTW
  • topler
My 3 year old just learned to Poop for himself and he has this book memorized. I really got a kick out of the video. It made my day.
  • FAIL
  • ugh
  • XD
  • Palmer
Well, at least it didn't involve fart jokes.
  • That was a pretty good video, I like how it parodied the original teaser for Where The Wild Things Are.
  • jeuh
  • See, I was at least expecting a funny or die type spoof short, something not serious but that ACTUALLY INVOLVED Spike Jonze
