harvester concept art terminator salvation

After much speculation, Terry Crews told MTV that Arnold Schwarzenegger will indeed be doing a cameo in Terminator Salvation. “That’s it,” he said. “And so am I.” Who knows if Crews actually knows what he’s talking about, as the actor admits that he doesn’t know what capacity Arnold is featured as the production only distributed pages of the film’s screenplay to the relevant players. It’s very possible that Crews just heard about the initial plans to include Arnold in the film.

Also, our friends at DVD Forum have sent us this concept art (seen above) for the big robot you’ve seen in the trailers, which is called The Harvester. Click on over the the DVD forum for the high resolution version of the art.

  • Thanks for keeping things in perspective Peter, because I also saw this story on io9 which they ran with a typical jump-to-conclusions headline. Along with saying in the article that it was 'confirmed'. Not 'confirmed?' just 'confirmed'. I got super excited for two seconds before realizing (via clicking on the MTV link) that it wasn't exactly set in stone.

well Arnold did appeared but nowhere where i look i find him as crew member like he didn't do do it ... so if anyone knows why ??! tell me please
  • from the sound of it, it seems it might be a non-speaking cameo role.
  • Ah, I wish he could be a random guy yelling "Get to the Chopper!" like he did in Predator. Speaking or not hopefully this is true
  • Great concept art and I'm hoping this turns into great news when it's confirmed about Arnold's cameo. I really hope we don't get an update later telling us that this isn't correct and should be considered a false rumor.
  • Yeah the cameo is going to make this movie complete, it just wouldnt be the same without Arnold :( Sweet concept art too, that thing is badass!
  • Shock and Awe
That concept art is AWESOME! I'm glad we're going to see Arnold.

I can't wait for this film, it is far and away my most anticipated film of the summer.
  • it totally looks like Hector from Saturn 3
  • pissed off
It doesn't really matter now since they decided to neuter this movie by giving it a PG-13 rating..I'm not excited about seeing it all now. McG is a huge sellout!
  • Shock and Awe
I feel very embarrassed for you right now.
  • From what I've heard, McG really tried to get an R for this film but I assume the studio ultimately decided to go with a PG-13. PG's not so bad anymore, someone pointed out that Dark Knight was PG and it was awesome.

Would "Harvesters" be economical? Anything that tall and bi-pedal could easily be taken down AT-AT style, ala Empire Strikes Back. Why not go with tanks?
I have so many comments I want to post regarding this relase, but it would take way too much space.
I'll just say that I hope the story is fun and the action follows very closely to the original visions of armageddon we saw in both Cameron films.
But this harvester thing has me on the fence as to its "tactical legitimacy."
  • Maybe Skynet doesn't think like that. Maybe it's really not important and maybe they do something like they did in Empire Strikes Back to this Harvester. Plus Skynet's always coming out with other versions of everything that make older versions obsolete. Maybe they'll have tanks in the newer movie or something that won't be taken down so easily.

Either way, keep telling yourself it's a movie to have fun watching and not worry yourself thinking about nonsense like this.
  • We get it...
I really wish the little kiddies would stop complaining about PG-13. It's getting kind of embarrassing for them now. It's basically going to be similar to T2 in content. T2 was a soft-R (1991 style), Salvation is a hard PG-13 (2009 style). Honestly, for the adults, how many degrees separate that? My guess, not many. So stop acting like whiny bitches about it.

T2 was a very soft R. It had fast food tie-ins, it had toy deals, it had massive merchandising. I was 15 and went to see it in the theater, TWICE. Two different theaters. No adult supervision either time. Just me and two other 15 year old buddies. They don't let you do that for hard-R movies. It was PG13 (or its equivilant) everywhere else.

I recommend we all save our energy for whether the film is actually GOOD or not.

    Who's with me?
  • Shock and Awe
I totally agree. I'm so glad that someone finally said what needed saying.
  • perry
even if theres arnold, its going to suck, T4 is a pathetic transformers wannabe
  • pathetic hater
    perry,

Your lame excuse for a post is the only thing that sucks.
  • Even with a PG-13 rating this film will still kick ass. And If Arnold Schwarzenegger does make a cameo it will probably be short but worth every second.
  • REAL6
Now all we need is Michael Biehn in Terminator 6 'with lots of makeup to look young' and send him back in the past and the 6 movies will really be complete!!!
  • pissed off
It's a f***ing war movie...The only reason they knocked it down to PG13 was to make that extra buck...There is no need to see this now..I might decide to rent it if he comes out with an unrated version...PG-13? How sad..I'm not the only one who is completely disappointed....

Yet you won't stop bitching about it. Here's an idea: if you don't like it then go away. There are a lot of people who are looking forward to the movie and they don't want to hear your incessant whining about a stupid rating, that won't make any difference anyway.

If you want to act like a baby, then go find your pacifier and bug off.
  • I guess your best bet is to wait it out and listen to what everyone says about the new movie. Listen to all the positive comments the movie will get and then you'll realize what you're missing and in the future when you do experience the movie on DVD, you'll realize you made a mistake by not watching it in theaters and enjoying a good movie, possibly the best summer blockbuster of the year.

Who the hell wants to see a PG cut version of a Terminator film? Not me!
  • elvis lives
You don't mind readng stories and/or writing about it though. Kind of strange.

    We won't miss ya.
  • tabcaps
So you don't mind that they made massive cuts to this movie to make it PG...you're part of the mindless sheep that they want to pack the theaters with...I pity you...
  • Elvis Lives
Massive cuts? Are we inventing fantasies in our little minds again? The only cut I know of is Moon's boobies. No biggie.

The problem is that many people who complain about the ratings do a lot of projecting and ultimately base their opinions on very little fact. Your statement above is more evidence of that.
  • I'm sick of the flaming over ratings between posters here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and until the movie comes out and we see it, no one can really say if PG-13 is a bad move or not.
I'm a fan of the series, and really enjoyed the first two. Yes, they were "soft - R" for their time, but that doesn't mean that I want a modern-made sequel to be set to those standards. If our collective sensitivity to on-screen profanity, violence and sex has been lowered, then I want more of it to give the modern version the same "soft-R" rating. I feel it's warranted. In the very beginning of T1 Arnie puts his hand through a guy's chest and rips his heart out. Even by today's standards I don't think that would be PG-13.

I like how Zach Snyder's Watchmen was discussed for having done just that. He took material that was considered very edgy and morally challenging for the time (1980s), and he upped the violence, sex, and gore to try and keep it edgy and limit-pushing for modern audiences.

Kevin, excellent point, and here are my two cents: I would never make a film to achieve a certain rating. Be it a PG-13 or an R or whatever. Ever.

I keep getting the impression that many of the "fanboys" who are crying the most about this are people for whom the R-rating supercedes all other considerations and honestly I find that extremely strange.

It's almost as if one would expect the writers to add MORE violence or MORE sex or MORE language despite being given free reign over the project and making the film they wanted to, just to get the R. Not because it's warranted, but because a pack of internet warriors will cry if they don't get an R, for some reason.

IJudge the film for what it is. That's all.
  • josh p
the only real cut was the boob scene. and its not PG. it hasnt even been officialy confirmed for a pg13 rating yet. stop being a little kid. geeze. im sure no matter what the rating, if someone wants to see it, they will see it!
  • Elvis Lives
    I meant kevlar, not kevin.
  • I have to say I'm getting more and more pumped for Terminator Salvation. I think the thought of McG directing disappointed a lot of people including myself, but it actually looks pretty good. Plus Christian Bale rules.
  • if they're smart it would be a non-speaking role. or the classic "I'll be back"!
  • I don't see where the line would come into play so I'm going to go ahead and say it's going to be a non speaking role for a few seconds. It would be nice to see him and have a speaking part but I think it would seem forced.
  • What does the quote “That’s it,” he said. “And so am I.” mean?
  • freemachine
The MTV article was extremely incoherent and basically just a lot of hearsay.
  • wal
i feel its hear say, without comformation from the director. from what i saw it was more like footage of him from the earlier movies.
