Two New Star Trek Clips

bones star trek
And let the overexposure of Star Trek clips begin! Paramount Pictures has given MTV the first clip from the new JJ Abrams reboot, which features Chris Pine as James T Kirk hitting on Uhura (Zoe Saldana) in a local bar.

Yahoo has a second video clip titled “Disease and Danger” which features the introduction of Karl Urban as Dr. Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy, who is just a little nervous about flying. Watch the clips after the jump.

    loving zoe..
  • hashmeer
2 hot haim saindwiches arrrre... pretty good.
  • Ugh it really annoys me that so many of these videos are regional... I get to wait to see this clip on youtube.....$#@
  • Brad
Good stuff. Like Chris Pine better than I thought I would.

Anybody else get a "Good Will Hunting" vibe off of that scene?
  • Lol now that you mention it... But here I believe the scene will end not as peacefully as it did in 'Good Will Hunting'...
  • nelson
pine reminds me of matt damon for some reason
  • XCVBN
One of the most used scenes in the history of filmmaking. And it added nothing new or interesting. Except for the fact that the hero came off like more of an asshole than his mob of assailents.
  • I am wondering if kirk being the asshole is the point.
  • Jehosophat
    Ooh --- Hoo hoo huru.

Damn! I'd like to study her linguistics!
  • Andrew
Karl Urban?! I thought that was Brian Austin Greene (Derek from Terminator: TSCC!)!
  • Brad
Rather than Pine, Urban was actually the casting that I was most worried about, but that concern has just been put to rest.
  • nelson
never watched trek ever is Urban's character always that paranoid?
  • Dave
Only when transportation is involved. Yes, i know a spaceship shooting around at FTL speeds is transporation, but from what I remember its aggrovated whenever he's in a shuttle or beamed down somewhere. I think.
  • i hate regions so gosh darn much
  • shameless
whats with how that girl walks in the second video. it looks like she has a candy cane stuck up her butt.
  • He's a bit of a technophobe. One of his big beefs was his fear of the transporter or "having my atoms scattered across the universe" as he put it. I was actually pleasantly surprised with Urban's portrayal. He channels the original actor, Deforest Kelly, quite well.
  • freemachine
Yeah, Urban truly is the real McCoy! ;)
  • Awesome. Looks like Urban NAILED McCoy.
  • Yup. I was gonna say the same thing.
  • The_Kid
Urban was awesome in that scene, at one point he slightly reminded me of Jack Nicholson, just a bit, the way he spoke and the way he's eye's opened up when he spoke. Chris Pine in the first scene was actually pretty funny, I really excited for this movie and I've never been a huge fan of Star Trek.
  • Good call on Jack Nicholson, I can see what you mean. Yeah I've never really been interested in Star Trek either but this looks awesome.
  • Urban was awesome
  • Mike
i'm not sure you could get closer to Urban's portrayal of McCoy without resurrecting DeForest.
  • Django
    I. Simply. Cannot believe that's Karl Urban.

This man has just redefined character/ homage - acting to me.

I've been looking at him for months, and didn't realize until your posts now that it was him.

    Incredible!
  • Mike
i'm not sure you could get closer to Urban's portrayal of McCoy without resurrecting DeForest.
  • Agreed. Bang on.
  • That's what she said
  • Holy moly, Urban is a fantastic McCoy, and Pine and Saldana are just awesome! I may not get out of my seat for the rest of the night once I sit down in the theater. Waiting for May 8 has just gotten beyond intolerable.
  • Troy
Yup, Urban's McCoy looks awesome just from that quick clip alone.
  • this looks rad
  • That is a spot on portrayal of McCoy. Closer to DeForest Kelly than I could have possible imagined. I really can't wait to see this movie.
  • mangokiwi
damn, check out that lens flare. looks good!!
  • oh yeah - def. going to be in the theater on opening night...

and the 'flashes' of light on the camera, although not traditional star trek, seem a welcome addition (creates a new style with energy, at least from the clips)

    Hey All

I managed to snag a ticket from a friend to go along and see the world premiere of the film last night at the Sydney Opera house and I have to say, as a total non-Trekkie, that I thought it was ... fantastic! Even the Trekkie fans I went with loved it from start to finish. It was action packed and totally delivered, hats off to JJ Abrams on his stellar effort.

Go see this film, fan or not!
  • Stranger
This is one of the few times I've seen Karl Urban and actually liked him. Without the brooding, he's actually fun. Kudos to Urban.
  • XCVBN
Abrams keeps transitioning with those little blue flares. I can't decide weather or not that's cool....
  • Is it May yet?
  • rcesm
    Want this movie... SO badly!
  • Marshall
Holy crap, Urban has completely nailed McCoy's facial expressions and attitude. I literally lol-ed out of pure nerd happiness
  • Emily
    Holy poop.
I think I have my birthday movie choice.
  • That was fun. I can't wait until I see the whole movie.
  • I'm liking Chris Pine's take on Kirk. This is the only clip I'm watching, I don't want to spoil most of the movie for myself.
  • Palmer
The clip was sort of boring, I kind of want to know more about that ugly alien though....or radiation victim.

Whoa, another video! Loved it when he said "dammit I am a doctor."

There sure is a lot of glare use.
  • McCoy was pretty good.. But this is such a tease
  • antizombie
oh my gosh! I wasn't sure about Urban, but now I think he's a really good McCoy. I had to laugh, such a great scene xD. Bones will always be the best!
  • Amalgham
I thought he said Cylons at the end. lol.
  • "And the darkness and Cylons..."

    Lols.
  • Fkn Lens FLares
Enough with the F@$#@$#@ LENS FLARES! I don't care if it was a creative choice. Very Distractig
  • Both clips look really good. I especially like the first one where he's about to get into a fight with the 4 guys.
  • jrice73
Holy shit...that's Bones McCoy... "I am a doctor!" God this film can't get here soon enough!
