Terminator Salvation is Rated PG-13?

terminator pizza hut

It seems like all of the big tentpole films now-a-days have a tie in with a pizza delivery company. McG’s Terminator Salvation has a tie-in with Pizza Hut, but that’s not the big news. The news comes from the fine print at the bottom of Pizza Hut’s Termiantor Salvation website. If you look next to the Halcyon logo is what appears to be the film’s final MPAA Rating: PG-13.

Last we heard, McG was fighting with the studio to keep a topless scene featuring Moon Bloodgood in the final cut. But of course, the topless sequence would require a less marketable R-Rating. I hate to read too much into one little MPAA logo on a cross promotional website (someone could have easily messed up…), but it appears as if McG has lost that battle. But this isn’t entirely bad news because a PG-13 rating isn’t what it use to be. Remember, The Dark Knight was rated PG-13 and featured a man with half a face.

    isn't there some 1 boob/ pg-13 rule?(i.e. Titanic, Across the Universe)
oh well at least McG tried.
this movie is still going to kick some fucking ass
  • Brad
Also, European Vacation, Fifth Element and 16 Candles had some PG-13 boobs.

Anyone else have want to add to the list?
  • eric
I hope he fights for a R- for a Dvd release.
  • I think that is most likely popular. Unrated movies are the new special features. Most films have them. If you can make a cut of a movie PG-13 and get more money, why not. You can satisfy the boob people 3 months later. I personally am not complaining. If I remember right, stupid Night at the Museam 2 is opening the same day. If you can take your family to see a hardcore, PG-13 action movie, why wouldn't you. But if it is R, you have no choice to take the family to a lame Ben Stiller family comedy and wait 'till the kids go to bed a couple months later. Sad, but true.

  • Surely they'll have an "Unrated Directors Cut" or something, surely.

i'm replying to myself, they should do in USA like we do in mexico, there's another rating called PG-15 and it helps, believe you me
  • mikie005500
Me too its a terminator movie it has to be rated r making it pg-13 is just lame and weak.
Yes it may have worked for the dark knight but thats a totally different style of movie.
Terminator you expect a certain level of violence and even profanity so lets see some F#$%ing hearts gettin ripped out of pplz chests n shit
  • peter, why are you so quick to judge "that mcg lost the battle"? maybe he appealed the rating and was allowed to keep the topless shot with a pg-13. or maybe they made him shorten the length of the actual boob shot in exchange for a pg-13. you need to stop using that "jump to conclusions mat" you have.
  • its possible but unlikely, I acknowledged that in the post. But it should be noted that it wasn't MPAA that didn't want the shot in the movie, it was the studio. I would assume McG would have to go through an appeal to get it into the film as a PG-13, and I somehow doubt T4 has entered the appeal process. Bottom line, its possible but unlikely
  • i'm just saying keep an open mind, is all. we'll see who is right come opening day. ;)
  • Xono
T4 was always going to be a PG-13 movies you just got PR played by Warner Brothers and that McG fought the good fight but lost when in reality the decision was never his to make in the first place & had been decided long before.
  • Or like someone else said, this was just a clever ruse to make people believe the movie was R even though it wasn't. Just a thought, like everything else on this post. Remember, not yet official.

  • Still disappointing.
  • cat
The rating is the difference between the movie making an extra $50 mil
  • Was there any doubt that it would be PG-13 when you see that math?
  • Palmer
Well this is America. Show a disfigured man and the people will shrug. Show a pair of breasts and the people will pick up torches and pitchforks.
  • Sad but true.
  • Why can't we have both?
  • Joe
Think about it, do you really want disfigured boobs in your movies?
  • Good point.
  • nelson
i bet Watchmen had alot to do with this rating LOL
  • The Dark Knight was about a man who dressed up as a bat to fight a guy in clown make up, don't get me wrong I love The Dark Knight, but that movie didn't require an R rating. Terminator Salvation is a war movie, you can't show real war without violence. You can't show the brutality of humanity with a PG-13, that has always been a theme of the other movies. I think if a story calls for an R then it should be R. But yes of course this makes sense money wise, but this is kind of disappointing news. I thought the PG-13 hurt Die Hard 4, it felt watered down.
  • Shogun Seth
Total agree with you...this movie will suck. It might be cool in a video game sort of way,but other than that, its going to suck. Just thought your should know...
  • LOL I never said it would suck. I think its going to be good, but I'm just saying I think the movie could be hurt by feeling watered down. Thats all I'm saying.
  • Patton was rated PG. Tora! Tora! Tora! was G. The Bridge on the River Kwai, PG. Excellent war movies with kid ratings. I honestly don't care what they rate a movie, I'm 28, I can watch it either way. Not every war movie needs to be in the same vein as Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket. The insanity of war is only a part of the war, not every aspect of it.
  • Palmer
Well, to be fair the rating system and standards were a lot different when those movies were made. PG-13 wasn't even in existence until the mid-1980s.
  • Yeah and Jaws had a naked woman and peoples legs being chopped off and that was PG! You cannot compare the rating system now to those times. There totally different.
  • I agree, the rating system of the time was useless, in fact a movie that was deemed "bad" would not have even been made. Die Hard would get a PG-13 rating today. The system is a joke, but it does evolve with time.
  • Palmer
They made Die Hard 4 PG-13 because he said fuck too much (along with other reasons I'm sure). Where's the justice in that?
  • 790
This means were not going to get the same amount of holly shits and F-bombs like T2 gave us....

The violence will stay the same if not more intense.
  • Sixteen candles? Refresh my memory....
  • Brad
Well, I posted a reply with a link, but the mods might not let that one by, so...

There was a scene with the jock dude's girlfriend in the shower.
  • This is going to be Live Free or Die Hard all over again.
  • Live Free or Terminate Hard? Hmm... I got your new movie, Fox! Now they just need to pepper they idea to WB, then sue them for taking the Die Hard francise. Perfect!
  • qwerty
Im sure Watchmen was the deal breaker for an R rating

hopefully McG does a DVD/Blu-Ray directors cut
  • as long as they release the movie as its whole on dvd and blu ray im fine. they need to make there money in theatres and im sure they will with this rating just dont fuc* us over with the dvd bluray release
  • mangos
i don't think a pair of boobs is worth taking out a big chunk of the audience.
  • Mark O.
Damn, I really wanted to see Moon Bloodgood topless.
  • nelson
pg 13 can still have blood just not tarantino style
  • With how good the last three Terminator's did at an R rating, I'm surprised they changed it to PG-13 - though they did it for Die Hard as well. Too many people are afraid of the R rating. "Wanted" did well last year with an R rating, and not many people knew what that was about going in- this is stinkin' TERMINATOR - it already has it's fans, keep it R!
  • nelson
guys also put this into consideration if t1 and t2 came out today they would be pg13 it is not as violent as you think it was dark was not excessively violent
  • I guess McG doesn't have the pull at the studio he thought he did. I actually think that whoever is in charge of the rating decided to go against the R because of the poor turnout that Watchmen got with it. R would have been nice but we're going to have to settle for PG-13.
  • $50 Million reasons to make it pg-13. its a simple answer but i like the idea of showing different versions in different theatres.
  • Honestly PG13 basically means no blood...and that is pretty disapointing. :(
  • Greggory Basore
I have to ask, is there honestly anyone here that was all fired up to see this movie until the moment they heard that it's probably gonna get a PG-13? Really? Really now?!

You've had plenty of time to see the trailers folks. Either you were interested or you weren't. Personally I was planning to wait until this hit the buck fifty theater before checking it out. The rating isn't going to affect that decision one way or the other. If the fact that it's getting a different rating than you expected makes that big a difference to you I'd like to know why.
  • Tyler J
Maybe it just means the trailer is PG-13?
  • Tyler J
    No, that's not right.
  • Zinc
NOOOOOOO IT'S NOT RATED R I WILL NOW SHARE MY IMMENSE RAGE WITH MY INTERNET FRIENDS

Come the hell on. I guarantee you if T2 was reviewed again to today's standards, it would be PG-13.
