Bruno Red Band Movie Trailer

bruno photo

Universal has released the first movie trailer for Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s follow-up to Borat. And guess what, it’s an international red band movie trailer. I’m at ShoWest and on the run, so don’t have much time to write up my first impressions, but thought I’d pass along this trailer before I have to run off. Watch the trailer after the jump and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Thanks to /Film reader Jason D for the tip. Bruno hits theaters on July 10th 2009.

  • nice.

  • Felisa
YESS! OH GOD, YES!! I CANNOT WAIT!
  • MADE MY DAY!!!!!!1
  • looks good, hopefully the trailer didnt show the best parts
  • if it is like Borat it is all best parts.
  • swizZY
    lol wtf
  • Joe
"How do you protect yourself against a man with two dildos?" The fact that the instructor was playing along was great.

Also, dem were sum tig ol' bitties...
  • Black Eagle
This king of comedy is been seen on Europe and South American TV since the 90's. Props to Sacha Baron Cohen for making it happen here in the US.
  • "a traditional African name......OJ" lol

This will be the funniest thing to come out in the last 5 years. Can't wait.
  • So awesome... I hope they release the whole un-cut version in the cinema.
  • Won't happen with the NC-17 rating. That scene which caused it will be saved for the DVD.
  • All the more reason to look forward to the Director's cut DVD.
  • Borat was an amazing R rated movie, even with the cuts, I know we won't be let down thats for sure. I'll still be stoked for an R cut in theaters if we get a director's cut on dvd.
  • Was that Ron Paul storming out near the end?
  • as long as this isnt as big of a disappointment as borat was ill be happy
  • /ambient
I hope the movie isn't as bad as the trailer. I loved Borat. I don't have to be reminded that its the same guy! What is Universal telling me? That I should watch Borat instead? I'm interested but the trailer totally lowered my expectations.
  • Yes I believe so. Can't wait to see what Sasha did to make him leave.
  • Zinc
He came on to him. This is what one viewer said that saw the scene at that festival:

"When Ron Paul came on screen the majority of the audience cheered, clapped, and hollered. The Slate article was inaccurate regarding Ron Paul's scene however. When Bruno pulled his pants down, Ron Paul jumped up and tried to leave the bedroom, but was blocked by Bruno. Ron Paul yelled, "Get out of here," and pushed him aside. As Ron Paul was leaving the hotel room walking towards the elevators, he said something to the effect of, "That guy's queerer than blazes."
  • OMFG LOL RON PAUL!
  • holy shit! that was him!
  • worker
    nsfw?
  • Albert Brodsky
It's redband. Do we actually have to tell you?
    Also, it was fucking brilliant.
  • it's doubtful...since the NC-17 rating ...but it might be just as funny with the minor cuts..
  • ejs
what is with brits and OJ jokes? its like they are just now getting it. i recently met a british stand up at a party, and his routine was full of OJ jokes.
  • RJS
Ahem, we're just getting it? Pretty sure Family Guy just did a whole episode based on OJ.

But then of course some standup you met at a party surely speak for our entire nation.
  • with Larry Charles on board this movie will be nothing but gold. The trailer is alright, it's not much but really what can they show in a trailer? A lot of the movie is going to be offensive so they want to keep as much of it secret until it's released. I can't wait.
  • How was Borat a disappointment ???
  • lol, holy shit. This film is going to be huge!
  • Wow. Can't wait.
  • "This is ended!"
  • Sasha Baron Cohen for President.
  • Nick
It's pretty apparent a lot more of it is completely staged (like the talk show), but I don't think that detracts from it at all. I always though Bruno was one of the better characters in bringing out the bigotry and hatred that lays within the people he was interviewing, and the one that received the most hostility, so I'm looking forward to what Cohen did with him here.

This is one of Bruno's best moments from Da Ali G Show:

The jumpsuit made entirely of Velcro is pure genius. I believe that's what he was arrested for in Milan.
  • peoplecallmesteve
trust me - the trailer barely scratches the surface of the jokes in the complete movie.
  • Borat was amazing. First film in years that made me leave the room because I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard.
  • Zinc
lol @ Ron Paul's brief appearance in trailer. Can't wait!
  • compared to the Ali G series, the Borat movie actually was kind of lame. Sort of fake and forced.
  • filmkid
i cant wait to see this movie i loved Borat and i know i im going to enjoy this movie too the african baby bit is funny im black and i dont find it offensive if people find it offensive too bad

    bring on Bruno 2009
  • kevin
    Fernando Torres??
  • Get with the ?
They wil get the R rating with some edits. It's going to happen.
  • my point is based on what sebastian said. compared to the original ali g show, the character of borat is not as funny in the movie. he does many of the same type of things that he did in the movie as the tv show, but the tv show i felt was more original and witty with their things. the only truly funny thing that occured in the movie that wasnt a concept in the show was the wrestling scene.
  • richard
this will be good, i do wish that he looked like how he did on the tv show though
  • Holy shit, this looks awesome!
  • mewgen
This is going to be insanly gooood and funny! I cant wait to see it! it will be just as good as Borat of not even better!
  • Did anybody say "Controversial"? :D
  • shameless
i just hope the movie isn't overly super duper gay. but it looks FABULOUS!
  • Oh, god. I just noticed that, when he's on the talk show, the baby's shirt says "Gayby." I laughed. So hard. Especially when he pulled out of the driveway in front of that car. This looks incredible. I hope they fix the rating so I can go see this. Regardless, I think Sacha Baron Cohen might be one of the bravest men in history.
