men in black

Sony Pictures Entertainment president Rory Bruer mentioned during the introduction of the Sony ShoWest presentation that they have a lot of interesting films in the works for 2011. He brought up Spider-Man 4, which had already been announced, and then quickly mentioned that they have some surprises up their sleaves like Men in Black 3 and a new Ghostbusters movie, both of which are in active development.

Talk of a third Men in Black film began to circulate after producer Walter Parkes mentioned that it would be a possibility. But at the time, no script was in development. Also, this confirms that Sony is serious about producing a third Ghostbusters film.

  • Come on guys you already got me once today with The Matrix do you really think I'm gonna fall for it again.............oh, wait your not joking are you.
  • Andrew
I thought the same thing. If it hadn't been for the Matrix: Resurrection bit earlier, I would have thought this was the saddest /film April Fools gag ever.
  • man, i am so skeptical now. not sure if i should believe anything that comes out of the sheets today.
  • i call bullshit on this one.

Give the recent sequel trend in Hollywood, I find this totally believable. Plus the talk of GB3 and SM4 has been around for months. The only new info is MiB3.
  • sigh....

  • me too...
  • Wasn't MIB Columbia pictures?
  • SOny owns Columbia

This has to be an April Fools Joke! After how bad MIB 2 was, there is no way they will make a third!
  • MIB 2 wasn't a great movie but you obviously saw it, who says you wont see 3? If you won't a bunch of kids sure as hell will.

And if it has Will Smith in it again? Yeah big bucks. Add Tommy Lee in it and even it gets bigger. Now only if they could get someone like Spielberg or Jackson to do the movie....
  • Jon
Just because people will see it doesn't mean you would expect it to be made...like Beverly Hills Chihuahua or any movie made by Uwe Boll.

I'm sure they'll make a third, even if the second is crap. The trend is to make sequels just for the sake of the sequel; not to inject race, but they think we need more black-hero movies. That's probably why they wrote a superhero movie for him, because in today's climate it's trendy to keep up and make the formula work and engineer society where you can, using the big screen.
  • this is not a trick because it's nothing new. Nor does it mean that these movie are actually being made you know?
  • Are you kidding, anything with Will Smith in it makes heaps of cash. Including MIB 2
  • MIB2 was pretty meh. Loved the first one. It's bound to bring in heaps of cash though
  • Brice Gilbert
Yeah probably not a joke. If it was it would have rediculous crap in the post. Which is doesn't. Plus it contains factual info (Ghostbusters 3).
  • Jon
it doesn't make it a good movie.
  • ...and it doesn't make it an April Fool's joke either.
  • MIB2 complete tosh. But the first was cool. Maybe if they didn't rush it tere maybe something quite enjoyable and as fun as the first.
  • I'm not going to get excited for the Ghostbusters movie. I don't want to set the bar too high. I love Ghostbusters, but I'm scared this movie could tank...
  • Could care less about MIB3, Ghostbusters is what I am really excited about. Shame news like this drops on April 1st, can't help but be extremely hesitant.
  • Seems plausible - not like that Matrix 4 story, which I TOTALLY didn't read all the way through before realising the bullshit-o-meter had exploded.

    Ahem.

In other news - Sleaves? Qu'est ce que c'est?
  • You're right they aren't being 'made' they're just in development.
  • Jon
people would also see Matrix Resurrection. : That's what makes it look like an April Fools joke.
  • I guess I wouldn't mind watching another Men in Black movie. The first one was ok and the 2nd one not so much but oh well.

the Ghostbusters news is pretty awesome though.
  • Krazy Joe
    About time....

MiB II was even funnier then the first film. I'm surprised this took so long.
