famous sketches retold
Some of the performers of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre have banded together to create a new comedy short which shows what some of the classic sketches might look like if they were directed by some of the famous film directors of today. The video imagines what it would be like if Wes Anderson directed Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s On First?”, Michael Moore directed Monty Python’s “The Ministry of Silly Walks”, and Quentin Tarantino directed The Kids in the Hall’s “I’m Crushing Your Head”? Watch the video after the jump.

    First douchebag!
  • ugh.. i got through about 23 seconds of that video and HAD to close it...
  • Chuckk
First one was really funny. The other two... not so much...

    buy a mic.
  • GOOFRIP
    Ohh man, really, really . . . how do I put it . . . unentertaining!

    Wha'ts wrong with these people.
  • I liked the first, but I wish it would have been done all the way through. Just because I really like the sketch "Who's On First."
  • Jeff
I was not impressed with the first two sketches, but the last one grabbed me. I am an old skool QT and TKintH fan so maybe it just spoke to me more. Reading these comments, I see once again that comedy is very subjective.
  • With you there Jeff. I prefered the third, not so much the first or second.

It's a tough sell, because you need to know three directors and three very different bits they're reinterpreting. Even knowing all 6, I thought it would be funnier, but the third one was great.

I didn't really find the first two funny, but the third had me cracking up. It's less of an interpretation of how the director would shoot the sketches, but rather an injection of parts of the sketch into their films, which isn't as funny.
  • Just Saying.
    This is stupid.
  • kevin
    well, that sucked.
  • Yeah, you really need to know and like the originals to appreciate the parody. I think it was ok, but now I want to see Monty Python again....
  • "It's less of an interpretation of how the director would shoot the sketches, but rather an injection of parts of the sketch into their films, which isn't as funny".

You hit the nail on the head.
  • The Quentin Tarantino one was the best.
  • Zeigler
I liked all the skits, but the last was the best..
I think you DO have to know about each of these things to find any humor.
But the UCB is always a good bet for Chuckles.

Didn't Slashfilm post someone else doing something like this a few months ago?

That was funny. This is not.
  • Mario
    Didn't like any.
The ones spoofing campaigns were better.
  • sean p
I wish they would have done one for Penny Marshall.
  • Icarus Arts
Great idea. Not the best execution.
