    I can't wait!
  • I loved it!! this looks way beyond what I was expecting...wish it was coming out sooner this would have been a great film to release in June
  • I want it to come out NOW!
  • I know what you mean I can't believe Warner Bros. was holding this back for so long...so what if it's too dark for kids...the generation like myself who grew up with the book will go see this regardless...
  • smither
    YESSSSSSSSSS, I CANT WAIT!
  • In HD?! I think i need to change my shorts. October is a long time to wait for this. :(
  • brett
does anyone know the song that was playing with it???

awesome trailer...I was the most psyched for Star Trek....now i think its this....
  • bobby
    its by arcade fire
  • joe
    that was cool! Great trailer!
  • This looks amazing. I'm getting nostalgic feelings about my childhood.
  • Josh
    What an incredible trailer!
  • Wow I must say that looks amazing, absolutely amazing!
  • Jon
Just like Calvin & Hobbes, this is more proof that Max is a schizophrenic.
  • Captain Obvious
The song was a cover of Arcade Fire's "Wake Up."

And a less spirited version at that.
  • strawberrynuts
pretty saweeet stuff. arcade fire was a good choice for music. (i think that's arcade fire, might not.)
  • Wow. Wow. Wow....
  • looks brilliant.

and to the suits: it looks like a hit.
  • LFC
    I agree Billy Walsh
  • Dvq
absolutely loved it, it actually put a smile on my face, looking forward to it :).
  • Oh my god, this looks fantastic. The fact that this had reshoots doesn't seem to have taken away from the magic (though obviously that's a statement based on a 2 minute trailer) but now I am very excited for the movie.
  • jose
this looks so amazing, spike jonze rocks!!!
  • Wake Up by The Arcade Fire
  • It's two versions of the song; it starts with the acoustic version, then switches to the original album version.
  • Jeff
Do you know where the acoustic version is from? I can't find anything online about an acoustic release or b-side or anything. Thanks for any help you can provide me.
  • Utterly fucking brilliant use of Arcade Fire. I think I just found my most anticipated film of the year.
  • honestly, it was beautiful. And it was very indie looking for a mainstream movie!

I love the 'Fly on the Wall' Style of 1970s American cinema, and it works beautifully here too.
  • psbp
Don't you realize that indie and mainstream are the same thing.
  • omg...I was trying to make a point, and you just made it irrelevant!!!! :p
  • I ah don't want to get my hopes up, but... it shows some promise. (understatement)
  • CJC
It looks great. I loved it when I read it in Elementary school, and now fifteen years later I get to revisit it in a whole new way. Just fantastic
  • The trailer doesn't show up on my browser :((((((((((((
  • You can also find it on AICN and TrailerAddict.
  • tunaonrice
I just saw this on Ellen, in HD! It is really unbelievable.
  • Arcade Fire, Monsters, and magic. What's not to love?
  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • not a cover, just an alternate version. still definitely the arcade fire though.
  • Broom
That was really good. looks like it has ton of emotion, the only thing that gets me is the 2nd half of the music. gotta love Arcade Fire and the first part of that song fits so well but the last i don't know. i'll give another watch, but i will definitely check this one out!!!
  • I'm at once hopeful that this film will deliver and make me feel like a kid again, and worried that it will be a bigger assault on my childhood than seeing Yoda engage Christopher Lee in Matrix-y lightsaber combat.
  • Ahh, it looks great! The song works really well, too. When this comes out we can all be kids again. :]
  • You guys, I think this is the "GOONIES" for the 2000s. (in the 1990s, our movie was THE SANDLOT)
  • it's hard to say because The Goonies and Sandlot had a group of kids and their misadventures. I think this could be the modern day Dark Crystal or Labyrinth meets Goonies. I don't know.
  • that could be more correct
  • I have to agree with you're comparisons...both were very dark themed films for children...
  • Trey
hard to tack "modern day" on this one, but it most reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth. The whole isolated kid escaping a parental situation ... but hey, I thought PL was friggin awesome. Of course, PL was also viewed as too dark for kids (dear god, the thought!)
  • Unbelievable. The look fits the story perfectly. The voice work is great. The effects are great. The set looks as authentic as humanly possible. This will be ridiculous.
  • Alex D.
There is no set. It was all shot on location outside of Melbourne/Australia. :)
  • Stephen
The song is Wake Up by Arcade Fire
  • It works now! YAY!
  • Ahmed
    Epic.....effn epic....yay Spike Jonze!
