transformers 2 superbowl

In a posting on the Don Murphy forums , it was revealed that the screenwriting team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman might not return for Transformers 3.

“Time for fresh blood!” writes Orci. “The main reason we would move on is because we risk getting stale and comfortable. If you only sing one song for too long, you miss the opportunity to sing news songs. We’ll see.”

Orci also admitted that he has talked with Leonard Nimoy about providing the voice of the Fallen.

For those who might not remember, Nimoy voiced Galvatron in the original 1986 animated Transformers: The Movie. Orci says he “Would love it.”

“I actually talked to him about it, given the odd coincidence that he is Michael Bay’s cousin through marriage, but fan outcry has also put Welker in the running.”

Frank Welker voiced many of the characters in the original 1980’s animated television series, including Megatron, Soundwave, and Galvatron.

  • I think Nimoy would be perfect to voice Jetfire instead of the Fallen (seeing as Michael Bay is going for an elder, wise, battle tired version ofJetfire).

Also regarding Orci & Kurtzman, I think its not definite that they won't come back for a third film. I'm sure during their 1 year break from the film will allow them to make up their minds. If they don't come back, I'm almost certain the studio along with MB would search for competent and capable writers (assuming if Revenge of the Fallen is a success).
  • So then
Was the peeing scene in Transformers their idea or Bay's? The answer to that question determines if I ever care about these writers' next films.

Translation: "We're waiting to see how much Paramount pays us to write the 3rd"
  • Dylan C.
    Didn't Orson Welles voice Unicron?
  • Yeah he did, it is widely believed to be his last performance of his life. I read somewhere that he was kind of out of it by that point and that he remarked that he was doing a movie where toys do terrible things to each other.
  • nathaniel
    indeed Orson Welles voiced Unicron.
  • nestor
thats exactly what I thought when I read this post - I think that Transformers was Orson Welles last credited fim
  • James Duncan
Nimoy did not voice Unicron - that was Orson Welles.
  • I don't blame Orci and Kurtzman, after all, the Transformers films may be easy money (in a screenwriting sense), but sometimes a screenwriter needs to test his abilities and if Nimoy voices 'Fallen' that would be brilliant. He just has one of those voices that resonates throughout which/what-ever character he is playing/voicing.
  • James Duncan
I'm amazed I'm the first person to coment on this glaring mistake.
  • WELKER SHOULD BE THE VOICE OF THE FALLEN - THIS IS A NO-BRAINER. THEY'VE ALREADY DROPPED THE BALL ON STARSCREAM AND MEGATRON. TIME TO CLEAN UP THE MESS, GET WELKER BACK IN THERE.
  • So you think that adding Frank Welker's voice to this movie will bring more people to the theaters? It may seem that they might have messed up on some voices on the first movie but it wasn't anything that bad.
  • George
The voice artist who did Starscream died many years ago. They didnt have much choice with Starscream in the film.
  • AS LONG AS they dont make the terrible mistake that lord of the rings' jackson made by having the DWARF voice the ENTS. I mean, serioulsy, do you really think we are that incomptent , not to be able to tell the difference? Please...
  • yes, there is some confusion. Leonard Nimoy plays's a charcater called "spock" in a scienc fiction series of films called "star trek". its about space. LOL
  • Wasn't it already mentioned that Welker was going to be voicing Soundwave? Who better to voice him. I say let Nimoy voice the fallen, a nod to the past.
  • Ladiesman
It was rumored about John Toturro is voicing Jetfire. Nimoy is not a bad choice for The Fallen.
  • I honestly couldn't be bothered with TF3 info until I see how TF2:RotF turns out. Also, I hate acronyms.
  • Wait... somebody actually WROTE these movies?
  • Welker will probably get the gig, but I hope Nimoy gets it. That would be very cool.
  • Can part 2 come out before people start talking 3!!!
  • Illogical.
  • Krazy Joe
    Orsen Wlles was Unicron
  • CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE-CONTROL FOR COOL!!11
  • 790
    These guys sing songs?
  • Alpha Trion
GREAT NEWS now just get rid of eBay and those horrible designs. You might end up with a great action movie with characters you feel for and a plot that doesn't treat you like a idiot . Who cares who does the voices since they aren't going to talk anyway.
  • STAR TREK 2 anybody?
  • Wizzle Wuzzle
Kurtzman and Orci didn't write Transformers 2 - Ehren Kruger did. They had a meaningless "supervisor" role.
  • they already said that
  • they are going to talk, that's the point of having established voices do them.
new writers for the third film wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
and something that wasn't pointed out is that the writers said after the first movie that they weren't coming back to write the second movie and look what happened.
  • George
Frank Welker is MORE than established.
  • Nimoy would be a great choice. Very Iconic voice.. Besides that I have to wait to see if this will be good or not.. Giant Robots = Awesomeness..
  • skippy
well, Leonard Nimoy voiced Galvatron - but, i believe Nimoy came back in to do a few Unicron lines (not-credited) after Orson Welles died during production.
  • skippy
    ditto!
  • Zeke
Does anyone actually care if these writers return? I thought transformers was just made up on the spot and then Michael Bay just added in a shit load of CGI fighting robots.
  • I've always felt weird about that. Is the robot's voice going to be modulated so it won't sound like Torturro's human character?
  • yeah it will sound different just like megatrons voice did.
  • I hope so - an evil despotic robot from the past has no business sounding like JT's real voice. Unless he somehow ends up in a forest, begging for his life.

As a Soundwave fan, I'm hoping they pay homage to the original and Welkerize the hell out of it.
  • xoxo
    LOL :p
  • It was rumored that Nimoy had to finish some of Welles' dialog after he died, but everyone has said to date that Welles finished recording all his lines before he died.
  • I'm almost positive it was Bay's, I'm pretty sure he says it was his idea on the commentary.
  • freemachine
Now if they can only convince Michael Bay not to return they might actually have themselves a decent movie...
  • SickofPunks
Punk ass fanboys with the same old punk ass negatives about Bay. Do you really think ANYBODY cares what you think or say since your just a few years out of diapers and say the SAME things over and over?
  • Justin
these guys have written nothing but mediocre crap. So, good riddance I say.

All this movie needs is less Bay and more naked Megan Fox.
  • Spell Check
    Aniamted?
  • I guess this is good news right now for the writers to venture out and try something new. I bet Transformers 3 will not be as good as the others since it will be hard to find a story. Actually Transformers really don't have much to tell other than a war between huge robots that has come to Earth.
  • Yeah I always think people are talking about something hilarious that makes them role on the floor when they are actually talking about the sequel to Transformers. ;)
  • Rob
I don't understand...this is from a forum? The page you specifically link to shows nothing of what's reported here, maybe you got the wrong page linked.
  • the link is correct. it's in the forums. orci is on there answering questions.
  • Jetfire's padawan
Leonard Nimoy died a while back.... hate to say it, but yeah.
