More Stupid Batman Casting Rumors: Sam Worthington To Replace Christian Bale

The Australian newspaper The Herald Sun is reporting that “Industry gossip now suggests the rising Australian star [Sam Worthington] could score the part of Batman in the third installment of the successful prequel franchise.” We’ve already gotten a bunch of e-mails linking this story, which means the story is already getting around the internets. But the fact of the matter is, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight sequel isn’t even close to approaching the casting stage. Christian Bale has said that he would return for another film if Nolan came back with a good story, and anyone who believes that Warner Bros would mess with any of the main ingredients in their successful comic book franchise is on crack.

    As stated Nolan isn't even close too the casting stage for The Dark Knight sequel. Switching out Batman's on what many fans are considering too perhaps be Nolan's last Batman prequel would be stupid. Bale has done a good job and Nolan has obviously stated he would like too do a third.

  • I submitted this just for the mere fact that it was circulating on Digg lol...What a horrible rumor.

    First of all, Sam Worthington doesn't even have the notoriety to play a Bruce Wayne type of role yet and second just because Christian Bale had a..."senior moment" doesn't mean that he's going to be shunned by Hollywood. Bravo Herald Sun for lowering yourself down to the level of The National Enquirer...

    Give em a break mate. This is one of the first incorrect pieces of news from the Australian media that has made it on /Film compared to endless ones from the American and British media.
  • it's not the first time I can't give you the stories...but they've been responsible for a lot of false rumors...I sometimes check out the papers from there and it's a majority of tabloid style reporting...it's either false rumors or finding dirt on celebrities and politicians...the British/American media is influenced by Rupert Murdoch who started and feeds the tabloid method of news gathering....not relying on solid sources but rather speculation
  • WB wont be recasting Batman until Nolan has finished his association w/ the character. nothing against Sam Worthington, i think hes pretty awesome, but Bale has done a fantastic job in the role. he has been nothing short of extraoridinary as Batman. why would WB recast him out of the blue like that? other than to cause trouble and recieve tons of backlash from the fanboys, there is no logical reason to them doing that

    i have seen Worthingtons name mentioned for Green Lantern alot recently though. that would be really cool, but rumor is that he cant take the part due to scheduling conflicts w/ the Clash of the Titans remake

    I guess we'll all just ignore the fact that Christian Bale signed a 3-picture deal at the beginning. Minor detail, but let's print every rumor anyway. It's simple logic; WB isn't fucking with the Bale/Nolan combo after TDK grossed a billion friggin dollars.

    This might as well be labeled "Rumor Killer", otherwise it's a rumor-spreader, Bale is locked already should Nolan direct, and at pre-negotiated rates, upped due to the b.o. of TDK.

    There is no way WB will replace him for 3 with anyone else as long as he is alive. He is part of the formula (even Marvel wouldn't do it to their lead), a fixed cost, in an internationally-recognized tentpole franchise. Not after TDK.

    I'm looking forward to hearing Nolan's official casting choices! Until then I'm going to endlessly hear my idiot friends tell me Philip Seymour Hoffman is the Penguin and Johnny Depp is the Riddler.

    Maybe these rumors are in talks, but until there's evidence I'm calling my friends idiots since they obviously know more about the third Batman film then I do. They're great actors, but please not in those characters.

    Zack Synder should direct Batman 4 and Sam Worthington plays The Dark Knight.

    Time Warner announced a while ago that the Batman movies all of them no matter who is directing would be set in different periods of Batmans life. Thats when they said the stuff about the 7 or more films being made.
    Christian plays Batman in his late twenties.Worthington could play Batman in his mid thirties and in the last Batman movie,Clint Eastwood or someone.

    im starting to hate the freaking internet rumors about Batman. more and more stuff about rumors about the new Batman film will get people to hate the character. this rumor is only based on Sam Worthington starring next to Batman himself Christian Bale. plus this is an Australian newspaper that want to support their own Australian actor. im only waiting for WB, Chris Nolan, Christian Bale to say whats happening next with Batman movies not some stuipd newspaper.
