harry potter and the deathly hallows

The Daily Mirror has published the first photo of Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Not much to see, just Harry walking though a forest, looking at something off screen. But since it’s a slow news day, and the world is Potter-crazy, I thought I’d post it anyways. Check out the full photo after the jump.

  • WOW. Thank God I got to see a crappy scanned picture of Daniel Radcliffe. My day is now complete.
  • haha, yeah it's nothing to write home about.
  • Striking that WB is already releasing photos from a sequel movie from a movie that is yet to come! But they sure do a good job adapting the stories to the big screen.:)
  • David E
This looks like every other Harry Potter movie scene. I never knew what to make of Radcliffe. I thought it would be virtually impossible for him to not to type-cast the rest of his acting career. Then I saw him an Extras and he really reveled in the idea of spoofing his public image, which makes the public get beyond the Potter stereotype. He's on Broadway. He's branching out. I'm sure he loves the $$$ from the Potter series, but he'll be glad when its over.
  • The dude does nude acting on stage. I wouldn't say that's type casting.

i beg to differ, i think daniel might be a little sad when the movies are done and he is no longer getting to play harry potter in movies, he has stated in his interviews that he is willing to do other types of acting but prefers movies and in fact he says he perfers harry potter to the others his friends and costars have been in. he is a great actor and very cute but he fits the role of harry potter and that is why i love him, but not more than my own boyfriend! LOL!!!!
  • Although he is trying to branch out, he still acts in the HP movies dedicatedly. HP is changing throughout the movies, and so his Radcliffe, so I think he will not really be typecasted, because HP is a very dynamic character to act, and it gives Radcliffe the opportunity to show all the talents he possesses.
  • I'm not a Potter fan by any means, but this photo just reminds me of the incredibly lame pushing back of the Half-Blood Prince's release.
  • big deal. we won't see part one till november of 2010. part two won't come out till the following july! i didn't even know they started shooting this yet.
  • Yabbs
Am I the only one that sees some William Adama in that picture?
  • So they're shooting on a sequel to a film that hasn't even been released yet? Hm.. Oh well, I can think of a few moments from the book which this picture could be of. I'm just wondering if they will end the first part on a happy or sad note.
  • Oh and good question about how they end the first half. I don't even remember what part is considered to be "the middle" of the book, so I couldn't even make a good guess without looking up the chapters.
  • my guess of the end of DH P1 would be Dobby's death, that always seemed the logical part, it was the point at which Harry stopped fooling around on the quest and really dug in on it
  • Ah, yes, good point.
  • maracle
    he looks like bigfoot
  • Wow ... just one pic that reveals nothing. Is it me or WB always reveals pictures like this. I wonder what type of "first look" they will release for the second part.
  • I don't think this stirs excitement for this film at all... Although, the past few movies haven't been very good. =/
  • What is the problem with these kids in sweaters. Can't we just wear a t-shirt. Askaban did. Or better, a robe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :o:o:o
  • I actually have an answer for that.

Mrs. Weasley always for Christmas makes a sweater for everyone (since they don't really have money to buy gifts). That is why they always wear sweaters.

    SPOILER

Also, this scene looks like when Harry, Hermione and Ron are in hiding in different forests. Maybe it's cold in there so that's why he's wearing a sweater.
  • It's the part, i'm guessing that's he's in the forest with hermione after ron had left looking at the patronus. in the book, it stated it was the dead of winter at that point... hence a sweater.
  • He said Dan was "branching out" which would mean that being nude on Broadway ISN'T type casting. I think David E was trying to say he ORIGINALLY was worried about typecasting, but that things like Extras and his on-stage debut are proving that original idea wrong.
  • They started filming for Goblet of Fire before Prisoner of Azkaban was released. They're keeping to a tight schedule, which was only ever changed (with Half Blood Prince postponed) because of Dan's broadway work.
  • SPOILER

My guess is that this is from the scene where Harry discovers the Patronus (I won't say whose, just in case someone didn't feel like heeding my SPOILER warning) in the forest and it leads him to the lake that has the sword in it. I think that's the only time that Harry is in the woods by himself.
  • indeed.
  • Perhaps a picture of Ralph Fiennes in full Voldemort makeup and costume telling Daniel Radcliffe to pull his finger.
  • Ha ha ha ha ha!

You just made my day Finaldo.
I will never see Voldermont the same way anymore
  • yes
  • Since he's in the forest looking off into the distance alone, he'd be looking at the doe patronus of someone quite important. I can only hope since there's the split in DH that the 2 movies will be pretty stellar... hope, hope, hope!
  • Yeah! It does look like that. It's like he is following something.

PS. I f I could modify anything from the book, I would make the forests hiding a shorter. This part made me fall sleep while reading (and as a surprise I finished the whole book in 2 days).
  • Yea, it made sense to do that to show the length of time passing, but it probably could have been cut short.
I guess I didn't mind, but I've been reading Stephen King since I was 14 so I'm used to unnecessarily lengthy narrative.
  • wearing a sweater is not what i'm complaining about. wearing a sweater that looks like it was bought at barneys new york is what i'm complaining about. give him a sweater but don't make me think harry spent more than 60 bucks on it, he's a modest kid.
  • ...I guess I don't know a lot about sweaters then haha.
    I see your point.
  • I think the majority of the posts here about Harry and the Patronus are correct. It's going to be hard to keep spoilers out for those who have not read the books. I'll just say that at the end of this book Harry...
  • dear costume disgner: please make it look more like harry doesn't actually care whether or not he's fashionable. in prisoner of azkaban they dressed like they were their age, now harry dresses like prince william or something... radcliffe actually looks like he's going thru some struggle in the pic. looks intriguing. anyway, costume person, i hope you get this message sooner than later because there is still hope since the movie is so early into production!
  • He's wearing a sweater...how the hell is he supposed to look "more his age" or "less fashionable?" I'm pretty sure this costume was chosen because Harry's supposed to be..I don't know...COLD? Is he supposed to be wearing a potato sack or something?
  • two freaking years away part two... damn you warner
  • Lol, who cares? It's just a grainy photo of him in a sweater. Nothing we've seen before!
  • Good point about the forest, but it is not the sweater Mrs. Weasley always gives them, for they have their first intial and a certain color ( I think Harry's is gryffindor red). But your idea about the forest is correct, hence the sweater.

How do we even know that the picture is from the Deathly Hallows?

Could be from the Half-Blood Prince.....right?

It's quite funny that people 38 people have actually taken the time to comment on how they don't care. Who are you trying to convince?
Happy Potter is awsome and you know it. Admit it.
