Megan Fox Cast in Jonah Hex and Fathom

Megan Fox has been cast in Warner Bros’ adaptation of Jonah Hex and Fox Atomic’s adaptation of Fathom.

Directed by former Pixar animator Jimmy Hayward, Jonah Hex tells the story of a former alcoholic and confederate soldier (played by Josh Brolin) turned supernatural loner and gunslinger. The comic book was introduced in the 1970’s, created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga, the character received his signature scar at the hands of Indians who placed a hot tomahawk to his face. His mother was a prostitute and his dad sold him into slavery. Fox will play Leila, Jonah’s beautiful gun-wielding love interest. John Malkovich plays the film’s villain, a voodoo practitioner who wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South. The film is scheduled to begin production in April, with an announced release date of August 6th 2010.

And in Fathom, Fox plays a young woman named Aspen who was discovered at sea by a cruise ship, and later learns she is a member of a race of aquatic humanoids who possess the ability to control water. James Cameron was at one point developing a feature film based on the Top Cow comic (which totally makes sense considering the director’s obsession with the ocean), but now the project is being adapted by Jordan Mechner, the creator of the video game Prince of Persia (who also wrote an initial draft of the Jerry Bruckheimer produced film adaptation Sands of Time).

  • Definitely excited about the Jonah Hex movie.
  • I was kinda hoping she was going to be the prostitute....
  • REAL6
I know me too but i thought she's already know as one around Hollywood?...
  • kinda sick of Fox being casted for Sexy Female Roles. (Fathom) but Jonah Hex, i don't know much about it and i hope she doesn't get casted as Cassie Hack in the upcoming Hack/Slash film.
  • drools:::::

I want to read the novel now.
  • Already knew about Fathom, Turner actually approved of her as Aspen before he died. Jonah Hex is quite a surprise though.
  • Am I the only one who thinks its a shitty idea for her to be in Jonah Hex!??! She is like half of Brolin's age! I mean it just seems like kind of a miscast. Also do any of us know Megan Fox can act!?!? We only know her from Transformers and all she had to do was look hot, lol I mean did anyone really buy her as a high school junior also was anyone actually convinced that a hot girl like that would fall for the dweeb kid!?!?
  • She did almost marry Brian Austin Green.
  • but she did a nice job looking hot
  • Not the only one, because I too am wary of how it will work it out.
  • jobless
can we please see her naked now?
  • I haven't seen much acting from her and I wasn't all that impressed with her in Transformers. If they just want her for the hot babe factor then I guess they are set.
  • Megan Fox in as little clothing as possible? It's all kind of WIN!
  • Megan Fox's name should have 3 x's in it. Megan Foxxx. mmmm
  • I guess this is good news, it means they are trying to get both of these movies off the ground and into pre-production.

I honestly can't imagine her being in a movie based on Jonah Hex...it just makes no sense at all.
  • I thought we already knew Megan Fox was going to be in Fathom. Jonah Hex movie looks like its going to be cool..
  • Rob
    Works for me.
  • This is funny, people that saw her in Transformers only already have an opinion about her acting skills, as if acting ability is a permanent feature in person, like his voice.

Transformers had no script and no character development, only big explosions. How can you even evaluate "acting" in this kind of a movie? John Torturo was in it too - do you think it was the highest point in his career?

Don't be so fast to dismiss what she can do, because you don't really know. For all you know last two years she took acting classes with the best teachers. And if you didn't see her other movies - why do you even have an opinion?

It's teh internets & it's a film-related site, so that's how it works for many people - haven't you seen it explained in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? ;)
  • Bram Michielsen
I was a big fan of Fathom way back when! She looks the part, let's hope she'll do Michael Turner's (rip) work some honour!
  • While I'm not the BIGGEST Megan Fox fan, I also don't feel it's really right to judge her acting based on Transformers. I mean c'mon, that's like judging the visual effects in a Uwe Bowl film. You know it's going to be mediocre at best.

That said, she better not mess up Fathom. Especially because of Turner's passing and the awesome story he left behind.
  • bobbyboy
though Adriana Lima is the natural Aspen, M. Fox it's ok...
  • Ben
Maybe it's just me but i like to compare the Jonah Hex flick to the Sherlock Holmes flick. RDJ as a historical action hero>Josh Brolin historical action hero. Megan Fox in a tight corset for 2 hours>>>>Rachel McAdams in a tight corset for 2 hours
  • Fartie Lange
heh heh heh its gonna be nice
  • filmkid
am i the only one whos worried about this movie first of all the article said Jimmy Hayward whos a former Pixar animator going to direct Jonah Hex. . . WTF. Jimmy Hayward only has done kiddy films and his an animator some reason i dont think he can pull this off, im extremely worried about this director.

also i think Megan Fox is hot but shes a boring actress. she always doing the same type of roles all the time. hopfully she might prove me wrong but i doubt it lol. also aint she too young next to Josh Brolin as a love interest oh well she does like older man most girls at her age does.

the only good thing about this movie is Josh Brolin playing Jonah Hex and John Malkovich been casted in this movie. but everything else i.e. having Jimmy Hayward directing this movie and Megan Fox been cast making me think this movie aint going to work well on the big screen.
  • Holy shit, Michael Turner's dead!? How the hell did I miss that. I have all the original run of Fathom. It was a pretty cool comic book. The art didn't hurt the cause either. Anyhow, yeah, Fox as Aspen works for me. Not sure if she's much of an actress, then again, I'm not sure the guy adapting it will be much of a filmmaker, so it's probably a win-win.
  • haha
  • yeah, she's definitely falling into the trap of being typecast.
  • Cool, her career is really getting bigger and she's gonna become a big star before we all know it.
  • I'm quite partial to Megan Fux.
  • Dan
Watched it thru a sleepy haze last night but Hex turned up in the pre-credit mini-adventure on a recent episode of Cartoon Network's BATMAN: BRAVE AND THE BOLD. Naturally he's not as scarred as in the comic (one big eye and some droopy skin for the most part) but a nice surprise regardless.
  • She is smart and trying to bank off of her hottness for as long as she can. she can't act so this is a good move for her.
  • Is there any way Fox can play a mute in every movie she is in?
  • Judging from How to Lose Friends and Alienate People and Transformers, no Megan Fox can't act. However, as long as she has extremely minor roles she's tolerable. Add in the fact that she's insanely hot...and we have a win-win. =)
  • shoot hamaguchi
Why won't this bitch dissapear. She is the whore looking version of Odette Yustman who should be getting these roles. I really want to see Jonah Hex, but with her in it, I don't know if I'll see it.

The more I hear about this movie, the more I wonder why are they're even bothering to call it "Jonah Hex".
