inception casting

Leonardo DiCaprio is in final negotiations to star in Christopher Nolan’s Inception. As of right now, we know almost nothing about this film, other than that it is a contemporary sci-fi action movie set in “the architecture of the mind”, whatever that means. The plan is to begin shooting this Summer, with a July 16th 2010 release date.

It’s hard to really comment on this story since we know next to nothing. One thing is for sure, DiCaprio is a three-time Academy Award nominated actor, and very capable of turning out a good performance. Anyone have any idea what Inception is about? E-Mail me. Last week, it was rumored that both DiCaprio and Ellen Page had been cast in the film (although, I can’t find the original source of this rumor), so might Page be next?

the rumors last week were DiCaprio and Ellen Page...I wonder if Page ends up being true also.
  • yea no clue what its about but if nolan is doing it I'll at least give it a look. dicaprio isn't so bad, he's made some good flicks.
  • I don't think the heat's on DiCaprio this time, everyone seems to be hating on Ellen Page lately for some reason.
  • Damn. DiCaprio and nolan. I bet theyll make a great director/actor team.
  • kickass.
  • I 2nd that kickass.
  • I second that kickass.
  • I'm glad to hear DiCaprio will be working with Nolan. I really hope Page isn't a part of it though.
  • same I really didnt like her in Juno, with all do respect, that movie sucked. mainly cause of its trying to be kid language.
  • I couldn't imagine a much better pairing of talent.
  • Derek
WOOT! Im so happy about this, Nolan and DiCaprio? Awesome. A quick explanation of the script is "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind" written and directed by Nolan.

    Great news
  • And I third that kickass.
  • kickass ^ 4
  • 5th it

OH GOD NOLAN DON'T CAST ELLEN PAGE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
  • drbenway
Aaah, small minded people who can't separate an actor from their role...
  • maybe because thats her best role so far, and it sucked. ya jerk.
  • Jon
I have faith in Nolan's casting. Everybody at first thought Ledger was a horrible choice for the Joker, but after his performance, you can't imagine it any other way.
  • I will say that's a bit different since the Joker character was established from the get-go. It was more about people trying to imagine him as said villian.

This on the other hand, I will still leave up to Nolan. He's got a good eye. Even if I don't like Page. or anything she's been in.
  • isn't DiCaprio lining up around 3 projects to produce? will those be put on hold?
  • /filmluvsleo
isn't this opening against thor? ha. eff thor. this should be awesome
  • I hope this movie will be the Sci- Fi I have been waiting for.

Also, it's interesting to note that DiCaprio is attached to star in Brave New World by Ridley Scott, but who knows when that will happen

Why the backlash with Page? It's hard to know what the role even is, but the girl has huge talent. She can definitely hold her own in a scene with DiCaprio.
  • na, no talent

    Kickass X 5
  • I think Leo has been the best actor out in terms of picking his projects with Brad Pitt second. Both have been choosing amazing projects lately and are working/going to work with some great directors.
  • I have a feeling that all of the people who are hating on Page could not have seen her in Hard Candy. Either that, or the internet nerds are intimidated by a strong woman.

    Go Ellen.
  • Strong woman, seriously? I love how when anyone dislikes "anything" on the internet there's absolutely no real reason for it other than just "hating".
  • "OH GOD NOLAN DON'T CAST ELLEN PAGE FOR THE LOVE
    OF GOD"... yes, hate.

And yes, strong woman, that's what she tends to portray. I decided not to use the term "feminist" to avoid even more nerd backlash.
  • haha
  • hard candy is terrible.
  • This project seems to be coming together nicely. I think that Leonardo DiCaprio is a fine choice for this film and if Nolan likes him enough, we could see him in the next Batman film.
  • I didn't realize there was hate for Ellen Page. I think I've seen all her movies and I don't have a problem with her. I agree with you that she was excellent in Hard Candy.
  • I don't see the hate either. She was fucking fantastic in Hard Candy. In fact, Juno is still a good movie that was just overhyped by the media. But it was like the movie wanted that sort attention in the first place.
  • I guess any movie with a pro choice theme is bound to get media attention. I agree with you though that Juno is a good movie along with Hard Candy. I just thought it was kind of weird that all of a sudden people are hating on Ellen just because she made a few movies with sensitive subjects.
  • thanyoufor
or that fact that in Juno she's her character in hard candy just not a psycho.
Dicaprio will be great, I used to hate him back in the Titanic days but now i love him.
  • So you're saying that Ellen Page played the same role in Juno as she did for Hard Candy? If that's what you're saying than you either need to watch those two movies again to tell the difference, or need to stop watching movies because you can't appreciate good acting.
  • All I can say is I expect big things from the Nolan/DiCaprio pairing.
  • Leo, Too bad you died in Titanic..
Now might be working with Nolan, great team..
  • Leo in the past 5 years has grown into one of the best actors working right now.
  • Absolutely. One of the best actors of our time, IMO.
  • bobbyboy
Leonardo was amazing in "Revolutionary Road"! (even better than Kate W.)
  • This is fantastic news.

Leo is amazing, but I consider him under appreciated talent. He really gives his all in his movies and seldom gets the notice, in my opinion. Very nice guy as well, had the pleasure to meet him once on set of Blood Diamond, very humble.
  • Derek
I dont know what people are worried about with Page....Nolan usually writes and directs his own films, he also usuallyy produces, as the writer Im pretty sure he has a good understanding about who the characters are, how they act and has a good eye when it comes to matching actors to the roles he writes. i think he has a leg up on other directors when it comes to casting because he writes the roles he directs and he knows better then anyone else who is fit to play them
  • gah
Is it just me or do Leo and Nolan kind of look alike?
